  1. Knox Halls Freshmen beat Gibbs tonight 48-14. Halls is now 3-0 and scoring 92-25.
  2. I think William Blount will be Maryville's toughest game before the playoffs. Powell has had some great opponents to build confidence and work on the new coach's game plan, but Maryville will create matchup problems for Powell. Maryville 35 Powell 10
  3. If Halls can get 7 sacks and 300 yards rushing and 2 interceptions, they have a chance. West 35 Halls 14
  4. Halls has some issues they need to improve on before they will compete for playoff spot. Tackling is he biggest. IMO, overall team speed and line play is not a problem. These two will prove to be the difference tonight. Halls 40 Gibbs 14
  5. I heard West got a RB that played youth football for Bearden. If it is the same one, he is very good. Who did West lose to?
  6. I agree. For Halls, it needs to become "standard operating procedure" to bring their best game and take care of business no matter who they are playing. If Halls takes it serious, it should be over early. Otherwise, it could be a turnover infested, ugly battle in the remnants of the hurricane.
  7. Halls Freshmen are 2 - 0 or maybe 1.5 - 0. Central isn't fielding a true freshmen team so Halls JV played a JV team (including freshmen) from Central in the first half and Halls Freshmen played the second half. The first half score was 18-0 and the second half was 16-6. Both going to Halls.
  8. I am sure Gibbs will fight hard. Over time, Halls should be able to control the line. Halls has slightly more speed than usual. This year could be worse than last. IMO. I hope Halls will get to work on thier depth. However, many of their starters are younger guys and need the experience.
  9. My understanding was that Helton told Halls at a very late date that Central did not have enough Freshmen to field a team. So Central was playing Fresh/Soph/and some Juniors on a combined team. Since Halls wanted to let all the kids play, they played the half and half thing. I am not sure why the JV went first. I missed some also. I saw #22 catch a good TD pass for Halls. I also heard that a Halls player returned a fumble for a touchdown on the opening play from scrimmage in the game. I was told the JV won 18 - 0 in their half and the Freshmen won 16 - 6 in their half. Great job guys!!! Your right. It is tough to pay to see half a game or (in your case) no game at all.
  10. Last year Halls appeared to have better athletes than Gibbs. Is this year different. Halls defense is struggling. What kind of game is everone expecting?
  11. Halls 13 Central 28 Well I was close using my brain. It wasn't the game I had expected. Halls really looked off to me with the exception of a couple of players. Missed tackles and turnovers killed Halls. This made a fair-at-best Central team look like world beaters. Hats off to the styles and mcmillian. They refused to let puny arm tackles bring them down. Offensively, I would have liked to have seen more the second half play calling in the first half for Halls. They were able to move the ball pretty well except for turnovers. I have seen Halls play much better. Right now, I don't think either of these teams are playoff material. But it may be a situation where they get in because not many other teams in 3 AAAA are either.
  12. Guys, The whole Appy State comparison doesn't fit here due to the fact that they and Mich. had no history. We have lots of history between these two schools. We also have this year's scores to analyze. That being said, anything is within the realm of possibility. Turnovers, lucky bounces, injuries, bad calls and the human equation allow for any team to beat any team on a given Friday night. That being said....... Clinton doesn't stand a chance. lol Good luck to both teams. Maryville 52 Clinton 14
  13. I am not sure any team will stop those players for an entire game. I still think the key for Halls is to guard against the big play. Good luck to both teams and I hope there are no injuries in a game that is always very hard hitting.
  14. I agree with you thoughts on Halls having more weapons. Some are better than others but there are more. Having a credible threat opposite Dayton is huge. I also noticed that Halls appeared to be showing a couple new formations out of the wing T. That was nice to see. (More multiple receiver sets) I think this helps put the defense on its heels a little.
  15. Knoxville Halls freshmen beat Sevier Co. 28-6
  16. A couple of online fans are crowing. I don't think the team is. They remember the beating last year and the year before that, and the year before that and.................. This team will not overlook Central. And yes. Wilson will play against Halls. Count on it.
  17. I, for one, am not selling Central short. I would easily say that they are more that 8 points better than Sevier Co. That means Halls will have to play better this week than last to win. I don't know if that will happen. With Wilson back, Central will break at least two big runs on Halls. I still think big plays wins this game. I am talking 40+ yard runs and passes. (and punt and KO returns) I want to see Halls win bad. I am just not sure that Halls can score 4 or 5 times this week. My heart says: Halls 28 Central 21 My brain says: Halls 14 Central 24 I hope heart wins out.
  18. He will play this week. Someone said that the freshmen won this morning. Does anyone know a score or how the J.V. team did?
  19. I agree Rebel 9. Central will be mad and not just because they are 0-2. This is the battle of Black Oak Ridge. These schools are less than 4 or 5 miles apart. Although Central has dominated lately, this is still a good rivalry. Many of these players know each other and several have played together on travel teams in baseball or basketball. Then you have several sophamores from Halls that played for Central in youth football a few years ago. This will be a hard fought game. I have no idea what will happen as far as the score. Halls is unpredictable as far as what they can accomplish. The talent is good enough to make some noise this year. However, much of it is still green. Central could run all over the field on Halls or Halls could shut them down and find good matchups to score a few themselves. Either team could win by 14 IMO.
  20. Hey guys, Wilson will play this week. Central will be ready. Halls will need a great game to stay close. If we keep it close, we have a chance because it appears that this Halls team is a second half team. I think the key this week is big plays. I think both teams have the potential for big plays. The question is who gets more of them. This is a huge game with big stakes. You have to love it.
  21. I just wanted to let everyone know that Channel 10 is reporting that the child passed away today. Very sad. Continue to remember that family.
  22. Quickly looking back at my concerns for this game..... 1. Can Halls run the ball? Yes,but not as well as I would like to see. Halls could not get the corner on the run. FB dive was the most consistant play all night. 2. Can Halls limit turnovers? Yes. Biggest point of the night. 0 turnovers to 2. Halls converted the 2 SC turnovers into 14 points. 3. Can Halls contain and pressure the SC quarterback? Fair job here. 2 or3 sacks and a few pressures. Soft coverage by DBs allowed for some quick passes to 5 yards hitch routes all night. 4. Will the Defense tackle? If Halls can hold down the Y.A.C. (yards after contact) I like our chances. Actually, Halls tackled well tonight. To many yards for SC but not many after the initial hit. 5. Can Halls get more touches for Kitts and Dayton? Kitts had some tough yardage but could not break one. SC seemed to be keying on Kitts which allowed the FBs more yards and allowed Waggner to break a long one. Dayton played a great game. Overall, I thought Halls played a very sound football game. Especially for a season opener. Secondary will have to tighten up. Central, West, Clinton and the other passing teams on the schedule will be licking the chops after watching this game. The game means nothing in comparison to the tragedy involving Weaver. There were conflicting reports late last night. Some rumors circulating during the game were false in stating that he had already passed away. However, I heard from a good source late last night (after 11 o'clock) that the prognosis was not good. Please remember this family in prayer. Also remember his classmates and Super Midget teammates. Many either witnessed the accident or wallked up on it just after it happened.
  23. Pretty wide range of predicted scores. And many appear very confident. Somebody is going to have crow for supper tonight.
  24. First off I am glad to see get cooler. But.... Why is cooler temps an advantage for Halls? Halls has shown great endurance in the scrimmages. They got better later in most of them. According to many SC fans, they faded in the heat last week against a deep WB team. I think the heat would have been an advantage for Halls. Just my opinion.
  25. I had heard about the hit and run but had not made the connection. My prayers are with Taylor and his family.
