If you have a T.A.C.A card or a A.F.C.A card cant you get in on that? If so what gate do you go to?

I was curious if anyone had heard how the TSSAA's vote went today regarding the public/private split? I looked on the TSSAA website but nothing is posted. I read where they could approve it, reject it or table it. Just wondering what happened.

So what is the outlook for the 2003 season? Have you heard your playing us? I heard we opened the season, but not sure.

This should be a pretty decent game. Boyd is a good team and C.P.A is too. What impresses me about C.P.A. is that defense. I have read several articles how they totally shut people down. I am thinking for Boyd to win Healy is going to have to carry them. I think it will be extremely difficult to run on C.P.A. I honestly dont think Boyd is better than U.S.J. and Ezell and they couldnt run the ball either. I think it will be hard for Boyd to score more than 14 points on C.P.A because that defense is so good. I think Boyd's defense is going to have to play a great game. Keep C.P.A's scoring to a minimum. If Boyd can hold C.P.A to 21 points or less then they have a shot. I just don't see anyway though that Boyd can light up the scoreboard against this bunch. I still think that Boyd's team from 1999 was alot better than this team. The only problem was they had to play us (So.Pitt) twice that year. That team only went to the semi's but if not for us then they would have been to the semi's if not the state. They were easily the 2nd or 3rd best team in the state that year. Alot of people assume this is Boyd's best team just because they have went the furthest. I think it is a given though that their best team in school history was 99. I mean the QB wasnt near the passer Healy is but man he was a great athlete. Those giants they had on the line were very impressive as well. Cloudland has a good program they are just not the calibar teams So.Pitt and Trousdale has had for years. Oh yeah by the way don't feel bad because Healy didnt win Mr.Football. In 1998 when Eddie Moore did not win Mr. Football I found out then that the award is a joke. U T football coaches have even said he was the best player in 1A-3A that season. That award is a farce so dont worry about it. They gave it to U.S.J.'s Tripp Tucker that year. Eddie had over 200 yards rushing against Trousdale in the semi's that year. The next week when Trousdale beat U.S.J. by 40 points in the Clinic Bowl the Mr. Football winner had like 45 yards on 28 carries. Like I said im from South Pitt so im no Boyd fan, but the fact remains you have the best player in 1A on your team. Healy is the best player in our division.

How many seniors does Sweetwater lose? How many of them are starters? I am from South Pittsburg and was curious. We open up next season with them. I think we have 8 starters back on offense and 7 on defense. I was just curious as to Sweetwater's outlook for next season.

I wish both teams good luck. I am a non bias S.Pitt fan and this is how I see this game. I honestly think Boyd was the best team in the East last year. They would have given Cloudland a much better game than we did. We got to the semi's last year and only the second round this year, but honestly we were 28 points better than we were last year. I know if we played Boyd again it would have been closer, but probably still lost by 14. We just played pretty bad that night and Boyd played extremly well. If Boyd plays like they did that night they will win big. Cloudland loves their football and they are by far the best team in that area up there. I just don't think Cloudland can stay with Boyd for 4 quarters on a dry field. I know Boyd's defense is better than Greenback's. Their offense is way more balenced than Greenback. Boyd has alot more weapons than Cloudland. Granted Mark Byrd is a fantastic player. The other guys they have are just hard nosed kids. No real great atheletes other than Byrd. Boyd on the other hand has a ton of good skill position players. Healy, Jones, Peardon, Nelson, Akins, #18, are all good athletes. I think several players are overlooked on their team. I think he is number 50 and plays middle linebacker. He is a very good defensive player. Cloudland will give Boyd some problems because they are so big, but speed wins games. I think it will be interesting for a little while, but Boyd will get up by several scores and force Cloudland to play from behind which is not good for their offense. This game will be a blowout. I am no Boyd fan, but I saw Cloudland last year when they beat us in the semi-finals. They havent seen this kind of talent since they played Ezell last year. Boyd Buch has way too many weapons. Healy will pass Cloudland silly. Mark it down that you heard it here first. Boyd wins this one in a no contest. It is so funny how winning a little bit can make people so cocky. I mean Boyd had a great year. For a bunch of christian people that they claim to be they sure act bad. Christians are suppose to ask themselves. Would Jesus do this? Well would he get on here and start talking all kind of garbage about beating people. NO!! They need to start acting like the Christians they are suppose to be over there. They need to take some class lessons from the people at Gordonsville. Those people have class. They had a really good crop of talent over the last few years. Could they stay close to S.Pitt's 98 and 99 teams? NO. None of that matters though. It doesnt even matter that Boyd beat us this year. They should be worrying about Gordonsville. As for Boyd recruiting you can deny it all you want, but we know you do it. You have several kids on your football team from Marion County. You say you don't offer aid. We know you do. When people other than a relative pay for kids to go to school that is against what your suppose to be doing in Division I. You got one of the best football players Jasper has had in the last few years (Peardon). Everyone knows who helps pay his tuition. The same deal was offered to a couple more kids from Jasper that same year. Trying to get those kids to come play football for Boyd. You can deny it all you want, but the fact is that is against DI guidelines.

Basketball season is here for South Pittsburg. I am so excited about winning one or possibly two games this season. Our record the past two seasons is like 2-65 so I am eagerly awaiting tip off. We are so good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone knows im sarcastic.Football is the only thing we can play in South Pittsburg so the town will sleep until next season.

Hey SVC fan I was told that the Marion/Boyd game to start next season had been cancelled. Someone said Marion was playing Page High School to open their season.

I think we are definitely the better of the two teams, but playing the game in "The Jungle" will definitely help Gordonsville. I do not think it will be a blow out by any means. I do not think Gordonsville played very good at all when Cascade upset them. I just dont see Cascade as a top notch team. I think we will win tomorrow night by 14 points. There is a 100 percent chance of rain so that could help Gordonsville seeing how So.Pitt has the superior team speed over them.

I wish I could say Polk has a chance, but they really don't. Goodpasture is too good. They recruit too well for Polk County to give them a game. Goodpasture will win by about 30 points. Goodpasture 42 Polk County 7

Collinwood is a good team, but not as good as last year. I hope Collinwood does beat the private schools. I have talked to several people from Collinwood that admitted they arent as good as last year. I just think C.P.A. is going to be to much to handle. Oh by the way I do think your QB/LB Jonathan Ward should win Mr.Football. Maybe for his defense more so than offense.

Yeah thats what I meant. Boyd is not 32 points better than So.Pittsburg. On that particular night they were. Boyd played perfect and South Pittsburg played the worse game I have seen them play in many years. Boyd might be 7-10 points better on both team's average night, but not 32.

I remember the four great battles Trousdale and So.Pitt have had over the past 10 years. The all time series locked at 2 games each. Man those games are what high school football is all about. It use to be so fun when our two teams got together in the semifinals. Grundy I feel for you having to go to the Creekbank. It is a tough place to play. We managed one win their in 1994, but it was tough. Grundy has got a good team this year. Probably the best they have had in some time. They will be better next year. I wish Grundy luck but trust me Trousdale plays a different brand of football than Grundy. They will have speed all over the field. They will be alot like Howard, but the difference is they have technique and coaching. Plus in my opinion they have one of the greatest coaches in the history of TN high school football. Satterfield is a genius. It is good that Colquette finally gets to meet Satterfield. Two very good coaches. Grundy has a good quick defense but that will not lead them to victory. Oh yeah by the way Grundy should not have beaten S.Pitt. They missed the first extra point in overtime but the officials ruled it good. Trousdale Co 35 Grundy Co 14

Gordonsville better hope they can play as good as they can talk. The majority of opinions on here seem to be that Gordonsville will win despite playing the best team they have seen this year. I guess thats just the way it is now. It seems as though people do not have much respect for South Pittsburg's program since they had that one bad year. I think alot of people are looking at the Boyd game and saying "So.Pitt is no good they have just played bad competition." People need to realize South Pittsburg played awful against Boyd. They gave them the ball on the 1 inch line, 35 yard line, and fumbled once and they ran it back for a touchdown. Making mistakes like that will not beat Boyd. I don't know if we can beat them anyway, but I assure everyone Boyd is 32 points better than us.

I like some of your picks but I cant agree with all of them. I think South Pittsburg is a better team than Gordonsville. I think C.P.A. is a better team than Collinwood. Here are my pics and why. Cloudland over Powell Valley by 28 Powell Valley just is not any good. They lost to Copper Basin by two scores. Greenback over Oneida by 35 Oneida just isnt the program they were 4 or 5 years ago. Boyd Buchanan over Friendship by 27 Boyd has too many weapons for Friendship. South Pittsburg over Gordonsville by 13 So. Pitt beat Gordonsville last year. Both teams are somewhat better, but So.Pitt is alot better C.P.A. over Collinwood by 10 C.P.A. might be the best team in the past 20 years with 3 losses in the regular season. Collinwood isnt as good as they were last year. Ezell over D.C.A. by 24 2nd time around will by closer for D.C.A. but their talent has really dropped off since the mid 90's. Bruceton over Fayette Academy by 16 Bruceton is too good for this up and coming program. They are getting better, but are not there yet. U.S.J. over Jackson Christian by 28 U.S.J. loses all those seniors last year and are still right in the thick of things. I don't understand how that keeps happening at a 1A school.

For the last several years those two regions up there with the exception of Cloudland have been terrible. I mean Cloudland is playing Powell Valley Friday in the second round. Copper Basin beat Powell Valley about 3 weeks ago by a couple of touchdowns. Copper Basin finished last in our region. Thats what im talking about when I say that area is week except for Cloudland. Greenback is a little better this year, but they still arent that good. Cloudland should be in the semi's every year.

I thought this thread might be kind of interesting to see what people say. I will say this before we get started. I think the 1A back of the year nominations are deserving. Cloudland people do not get upset about who was chosen. Eddie Moore from South Pittsburg who plays LB for Tennessee was a finalist in 1998. Everyone knew he was hands down Mr. Football. Guess what they gave it to some 5'5 guy from U.S.J. I have determined that Mr. Football award is alot like the Heisman. Eddie Moore not winning it that year was as bad and Peyton Manning not winning the Heisman. The following are some guys that are good players but didnt get chosen. Mark Byrd - Cloudland- Had a great season, is only a junior, will be one of the finalists next year. A.J. Jones - South Pittsburg- Had another terrific year despite only playing his third year of football in his life. If Mr. Football had 5 finalists he would have been one. A.J. Blackburn - Ezell Harding- He is the real deal. very good player These are the first three backs that come to my mind that were close to being there.

I wish South Pitt got to play teams like Jellico, Oneida, Powell Valley, and all those teams from that area. I know Cloudland cant help who they play, but as long as they are in 1A they should have a walk to the semi-finals every year. I mean that competition up there is just awful. It must be nice to know that you will go to the semifinals every year. I wish we were playing those teams instead of going to "The Jungle" in Gordonsville on Friday. With South Pitt, Boyd Buchanan, Gordonsville, and Friendship Christian in these two regions its just much harder to get to the semi's.

Calm down people. The three finalists for back of the year are all seniors. Mark Byrd will be a finalist next year. The Willis kid apparently is very good since he was nominated for both. The Healy kid from Boyd Buchanan is better than Byrd. I have seen both kids play. Healy is as quick and fast as Mark Byrd, but Healy has a rocket launcher for a arm. Jonathan Ward has been in the running for the last several years so it was no surprise he was a finalist. I think the three back finalists are ok. I do not agree with Cloudland's lineman being a finalist. But that is another story.

Is Bruceton's Patrick Willis a finalist for the 1A back and lineman of the year? I saw that posted on two different threads on here.

Have the 1A Mr. Football finalists been announced? I read on some post where someone from Gordonsville said they couldnt wait until Friday to see Mr. Football Finalist A.J. Jones so I was just curious if they had announced them.
