  1. Excellent response to the Vita post "MaryvilleRebel". The Blount County comment by her (?) was a particularly uncalled for low blow. Yes, it is unbelievable that some people still cannot tell the difference between pride and confidence in a program that has won three straight state titles and "cockiness". And yes, it is obvious that the haters don't actually read the posts by the Rebel fans before they describe all of us as cocky and deserving of a whupping. Not a single one of us has said on here this year that we are unbeatable or invincible. But let's not give the Maryville haters the satisfaction of prying an argument out of us this year.
  2. Geez.....this thread is crud. Couldn't we ask CoachT to start a whole separate board where Maryville haters can air their grievances all day, but the rest of us don't have to page through their rebel rousin garbage to get to the real message posts; like the ones that are actually about the game for gosh sakes. Okay, I'll chill out....It's gonna be a LONG SEASON....
  3. You're right REBELRON, having to do without McCord will be a chore this week. He's a proven huge asset to the team. Rouse would certainly be an asset too; but I hate to say it, we did without him all last year. Of course you gotta take into consideration how involved he's been in the offense in practice this year. And I know, different team, different year. Rouse had a good Soph season, but frankly he's going to have to earn my respect again. By the way, I read some posts about the Maryville-DB scrimmage (which really, now that the stuff that really counts is coming up, is ancient history) but I was just curious how that came out? I think Carter will come to play. Heck, anyone comes to play when they're playing Maryville. But in the end, I think it's the same song as last year with Motown West, Central, Powell, etc. Maryville's depth will wear them down by late in the 3rd quarter. MARYVILLE 31 CARTER 17
  4. Good gosh almighty! Why can't people just back off and let us enjoy this thing! As was said, as long as it is legal, who freakin cares if every single player on Maryville's team pays tuition to go there. As has been pointed out again and again, if Ram and the other haters would bother to read the back posts, alot of these guys have played ball together since grade school. They weren't thrown together in a business office by some quasi recruiting guru, they are buddies from way back and are a TEAM. Fortunately the vast majority of folks on Coach T have had enough class to congratulate the Rebels on 3 in a row. It's just a darn shame that some people can't put their own selfish jealousy aside for a little while and at least show the respect that these guys have earned. I'm not even gonna address the "trick play" crap. So what??? The final score is what matters and Maryville showed great composure and teamwork to pull together and pull it out. It's an insult to all of the teams that the Rebels beat this year to not give credit where credit is due. Now for god sakes, just back off and let us fans and the players (who definitely do not deserve this kind of stupid bullcrap disrespecting) enjoy this! Okay, I got it out and from now on I'll join the other Rebel fans on here and just ignore the haters and let them spout their petty nonsense unnoticed.
  5. Total agreement on Sanders, by the way [Edited by knxmark on 12-11-02 10:06A]
  6. What's this about Coach Quarles and Furman??? I haven't heard anything about that. I've been trying to convince myself that every since I heard the interview with Coach on Sports Talk 99.1 the other day where he hinted that Maryville might make the jump to 5A in a two years (when reclassification is done again) that he would hang around for that challenge. Probably dreamin....
  7. I have to agree that Maryville is a great football town. I live in Blount County, but not Maryville proper. A friend of mine is a Maryville alum and I went to one of their games with him for the first time about 10 years ago. After the first visit I was hooked! For the last five years I haven't missed too many games. This was my first trip to the state championship and what I saw really made a huge impression on me. Not only did it seem that nearly the entire town made it's way to Murfreesboro to follow their team, but the crowd was as varied as the city itself. The fans represented several races and nationalities, almost evenly divided male/female, conservative looking/non-conservative looking, young/old, etc. The young/old part is perhaps the most impressive. A few rows back from me, some folks had brought their toddler aged kids dressed in their best Rebel red and black; and after the game, the fans in my area waited patiently while an elderly couple (appearing to be at least in their 80's) were helped down the stadium steps (and yes, both were dressed in their best Rebel red and black). Not only do these great fans turn out for every home game (and many away games) but they drove 3 hours (many together in a long caravan) to support the team that they take great pride in, and the town that they take pride in. To me it's an atmosphere that I can't imagine being topped in many cities in TN. And, what may shock you... I am a Knox Central alumni! But after experiencing the magic of Maryville football, I can tell you that I am 100% red (and black) blooded Rebel. [Edited by knxmark on 12-11-02 9:50A]
  8. Redbyrd..... Just ignore snaggle. He seems to only exist on here to trash every school with a winning record and get crap started with whoever created the thread. JohnPaul's opinions (although I don't agree with almost any of them) are usually at least backed up with a little bit of reasoning on his part. Snaggle just spouts out crap like "I hate so and so... blah blah blah" and leaves it hangin out there. Disagreeing with someone on here is one thing, but dissin em without showing any class is another.
  9. TruRebel, Stars and Mapper....... I would almost sell my mother (sorry Mom) for a copy of the game! Being a part of it was more special than I could ever describe. How could I get a copy from one of y'all?
  10. BACK TO BACK TO BACK REBELS!!!!! Not sure about the "more talented" comment WesVols. But right now, I don't feel like arguing... I'M JUST PROUD TO BE A REBEL.... great game Burros, you earned our respect and next year might be your year. I'm still horse from all the yellin and still can't sleep from the excitement! WE LOVE OUR REBELS IN MARYVILLE and they continue to make us proud...
  11. Geesh.... give it a rest snapper dude. Nobody started braggin or mouthing off until you came on this thread that was started as a celebration of the championship that we won and tried to get everyone riled up. You are obviously not from any school that we played this year because the fans of the schools that we played all have more class than you are showing. Just back off man.... let us enjoy it..... start your own Maryville hater thread so we can all ignore it and not be forced to put up with your drivel.
  12. I for one think that having the games in Murfreesboro as opposed to Vandy does make a difference. Nothing against the city of Murf or MTSU itself, but the actual city and stadium are just plain harder to get to than Vandy was. I came over from Maryville and got lost twice on the way to the game, and got lost again on the way out of the game! Okay, maybe my poor sense of direction is uncharacteristic of most people, but I heard the same story from other visiting fans. And the city of Nashville just holds a certain mystique that Murfreesboro just can't compete with. Even though they are not that far apart, they are miles apart in what they have to offer visiting folks. It just "seems" more exciting to play the game at Vandy and in Nashville; and just seems more exciting to watch it there. And yes, TV coverage did hurt attendance. I personally know several folks that would have come to the game if the option of staying in their warm living rooms and watching it had not been available. And let's talk about road construction for a minute. TDOT's horrible reputation for practically shutting the state's major highways down with construction delays whenever big events are taking place is still in tact. I spent nearly an hour going about 5 miles on I-40 trying to get to the game while TDOT had a lane of the road closed so 3 machines could chop down trees way off in the median! Everyone knows construction on I-40 from east to west is horrible all the time. Some folks just don't want to fool with it. Maybe it's time to consider moving the game from site to site across the state? One year, play it in Nashville, the next in Memphis, the next in Knoxville, then Chattanooga, then Kingsport, etc. Okay, the logistics make it almost impossible (and how many Memphis folks would travel the 500 miles to watch a game in Kingsport?). But to pump some new blood in to the system might be what is needed. I wonder just how many local folks turned out in Murfreesboro to support their cities hosting of the games?
  13. Gettin darn fired up here!!! Gonna be there early to root on Fulton and stay late to celebrate the Rebels 3rd straight state title! Funny how this game has kinda evolved into a Middle TN vs East TN thing. Lookin at the posts, nearly all the folks from East TN (with the exception of the usual Maryville haters) think the Rebels are gonna win; Mid-State goes with Hillsboro. Of course has alot to do with the fact that no one over here has ever seen Hillsboro play, and vice versa with Maryville. A couple of posters even went as far as to say that Mid State football is harder hittin than East TN. My prediction after a week to think about it and read up on it: typical slow offensive start for Maryville (with the usual great 1st half defense), but gradually Hillsboro will wear down while Maryville shuttles in and out fresh legs. Great game, two great teams... Maryville 28, Hillsboro 17.
  14. Trying to get my cash situation squared away for this weekend - us poor folks do that sort of thing Does anyone know how much the tickets for the championship games are? [Edited by knxmark on 12-5-02 11:26A]
