I cant believe BigReid says Gordonsville win will by 3 touchdowns. Like I said earlier I am confident South Pittsburg is the better team, but it being in the jungle will make it more interesting. I think Gordonsville people will agree. I am sure they are very thankful they arent coming to South Pittsburg. This is going to be like the fourth time weve been to Gordonsville in the playoffs and tney have just come to South Pitt one time. I was really impressed by the Gordonsville players, coaches, and fans last year. They show alot of class.

Gordonsville is better than they were last year, but South Pittsburg is a whole lot better than they were last year. I would say South Pitt's team speed will be a problem for Gordonsville. The jungle is always worth at least 10 points to Gordonsville. It is a tough place to play, but a great environment for football. Gordonsville has always played extremely hard so that will keep it close. I think So.Pitt has the superior talent, but it being in the jungle will make it interesting. South Pittsburg will win but just by a hair.

The game will probably be pretty close, but I honestly think this is the best team Gordonsville will have played all season. Both teams have good defenses. We don't mind that Monterey wants to talk. Thats good that they have confidence. I will say this though. The S.P. players kind of look at this as a slap in the face. The S.P. football program has been solid for along time. They have had many good football teams and several GREAT football teams. We all know that they are not near as strong as the 93,94,95,98,or 99 teams, but they arent bad either. Monterey is coming to a place that they have never been. Like I said earlier So.Pitt has only lost 2 home playoff games since 1990. Once it was by 2 points in the semi's to Trousdale and the other time it was by 2 points to B.G.A. Both of those teams went on to win it all the next week. It will take a great game from Monterey and a flat performance from South Pittsburg to have a chance winning in South Pittsburg.

We will just have to see about getting past South Pitt. Is Gordonsville much improved over last year? I know South Pitt is probably 20 points better than they were last year. The game will be interesting though. We have came up to the zoo on three different occasions and its always tough. last time we played there was in 93 I believe.

Vic Grider in South Pittsburg is a very good defensive coordinator. He is the head coach, but also serves as defensive coordinator. He usually comes up with a good defensive gameplan. I remember 2 years ago we were awful, but he always had a good defensive gameplan to keep up in every game that year. We had no talent at all, but he could keep the game interesting for at least 3 quarters because of his defense.

They have been voting this week at the meetings. Voting on putting the private schools in the DII regions. The results are suppose to be on the TSSAA website. I know that the west TN schools voted 49-29 to make the privates all play together will the other privates that are already in DII. Not sure about the results of the meetings for East And Middle TN. Even if it passes in these meetings. The TSSAA says they will have to sit down and make a decision on what to do.

There is no doubt about it Sam Pickett was one of the fastest players ever to play high school football. Yeah he was from a 1A school that doesnt matter when were just talking about one individual. I think he backed everything up when he played in the East/West Shrine game a few years ago. He was named offensive MVP. Ask anyone around about him. He is the fastest guy ive ever seen in TN football.

Has anyone on here heard how the public/private vote went in East and Middle TN? I was just curious

Sounds like there are some very different opinions on the game. Some say not real close others say its gonna be close. I think its kind of interesting that I havent seen any post saying Monterey will win. What do Monterey Wildcat fans think about your chances? It will definitely be an experience to come to South Pittsburg and play in a playoff game. It is a pretty tough place to play they have only lost 2 home playoff games in the past 10 years. I will wait until a little later in the week to make my prediction.

I noticed that a thread had not been started about this game yet. What do you think about this matchup. I read where Monterey had some pretty big linemen. Size vs Speed match up it sounds like. I am just curious if So.Pitt has seen the size this year that Monterey will present. I am also curious if Monterey has played anyone that has comparable team speed to South Pittsburg. Post comments and predictions.

If Friendship does what they did last year it will be a spread type offense. Last year they ran alot of spread. They had 2 backs, but would have 3 receivers. This year I read where there QB has over 2000 yards passing. They lost a good tailback to graduation last year. I have to go with Friendship in this game. Friendship 35 Whitwell 14

This game will be no contest. Lookout Valley plays hard, but they are just awful. Gordonsville will have this one wrapped up at halftime. I think Gordonsville will win pretty big. The real test for Gordonsville will come next week when a possible match up with South Pittsburg looms. If both teams win this week that has the makings of being a very good football game. Boyd has a good team I grant them that. They are fortunate that S.P is down from what they have grown accustomed to being. This Boyd team this year is not near the calibar team they had in 99. Not even close. I agree with what one Boyd fan said on here Boyd is the best team in Marion County. I mean guys face it as long as they are getting players from Marion County it is going to be tough. As for Boyd rubbing it in because they beat us the last several years, that is all fine and good. But I say this to those people. How many state championships have you won? How many rings have you got? Until you get at least one ring you really do not have alot to talk about.

I don't know if there is any truth to this or not but I heard that South Pitt has had some terrible practices this week. I also heard they had several starters hurt or sick. If this is the case then this game tonight against Whitwell may turn into a 7-10 point game. I mean I think South Pittsburg is a much better team that Whitwell (21-28 points), but if what I have heard is true it could be a good ballgame.

I have to disagree for one reason. Pass defense. I think South Pittsburg and Boyd Buchanan will play again in the third round to see who gets to host Cloudland. I think if So Pitt and Cloudland play at South Pitt it will be a good game. I have seen Boyd up close. I do not think Cloudland can beat Boyd. If I were a Cloudland fan I would hope South Pitt could upset Boyd. I mean no disrespect to Cloudland but Im telling you they can not beat Boyd. If they couldnt stop the guy from Ezell last year then I know you cant stop the Healy kid either. He is very very good. Cloudland will score on Boyd if they meet but that game would end up something like. Boyd Buchanan 49 Cloudland 35 I mean Boyd putting 30 points on the board against a very very good David Lipscomb team is impressive to me. Look at who Lipscomb played and the scores. I am a South Pitt supporter and would love a game with Cloudland but i do not think they could beat Boyd if they played.

It looks like Howard might be playing Portland and Grundy playing Livingston Academy in the first round. McMinn Central goes to Trousdale and Walker Valley goes to Smith County. McMinn Central and Walker Valley will get beat by 50 or 60 points while Howard and Grundy have a great chance to advance to the second round where both of them will probably bow out.

Perry Hutchins QB/DB 91-94 (Could have played at his choice of SEC schools), Corey Tipton TB/DB 93-95 (Division 1AA Tenn Tech, U.T.C, MTSU, Austin Peay) Aaron Chambers DT/OT 96-99 1A MR. Football Lineman 1999 could have played anywhere in Division 1AA, walked on at Tennessee but couldnt stand the heat. Eddie Moore's helmet was not sharpened this is so crazy for people to get on here and think that South Pitt sharpened their helmets that year. They have more class than to do that. When So Pitt loses im the first to give praise where its due. Yes Boyd whipped us last Friday. Did they play well? Yes they played very well. Did So. Pitt play like they are capable? No they didnt. I dont know if they can beat Boyd, but they can keep it closer than that. As for William Nelson he has no class. Why do I need to come on this board and lie? I was by the wall on the sideline. I can honestly say on my christian word he cussed, mocked, and taunted S.P players and coaches all night. Heck So. Pitt's youth minister guy that stays on the sideline even got to hear some of it.

Tell me if I am right on this one. Whitwell and Monterey play Friday. If Whitwell was to beat S.Pittsburg in week 9 then they would host Monterey in the 1st round since Monterey is going to finish 3rd in their region? If South Pittsburg beats Whitwell next week then S.Pitt finishes 2nd in the region and hosts Monterey in the first round of the playoffs while the loser of So Pitt/Whitwell gets to go to Friendship Christian. Is this how it will work out?

I am a South Pittsburg fan, but I would have to go with the following guys for 1A back of the year. Bruceton's Patrick Willis, Collinwood's Jonathan Ward, and the 3rd nominee could be a variety of people. I would give the nod to Cloudland's Mark Byrd, but he missed several games and that is going to hurt him I think. I think Will Healy from Boyd would have to be my 3rd choice. Like them or not the kid is a player. In my opinion he is the best QB the Chattanooga area has seen in the last 10-15 years. Granted their has been several outstanding "athletic" QB's better than him. He is all around a great player. I think Cloudland's Byrd, and South Pitt's A.J. Jones should also be considered. Im just not sure if they should be in the final 3.
