  1. The Cleveland baseball coach attempted to 'recruit' me before I was even in junior high, and one year I won defensive POG at the Optimist Bowl at CHS and get a nice little shpiel from Benny Monroe. The recruiting was never terribly overt, but during the early to mid 90s, particularly with Bradley suffering through a decade of putting for minimal effort at establishing a decent football program, everyone that had any potential ended up having a chat with the Cleveland coaches at some point. Benny Monroe was basically recruiting like he was running a small-town political campaign, and unlike text messages there wasn't exactly an evidence trail left for personal conversations and "accidental" encounters.
  2. Yep... that was easily a TD. Ref was focused on the ball instead of his feet though.
  3. Oddly enough, with the game being televised a betting line has been established on this game. Right now Bradley is favored by 21... that sounds a bit extreme to me. Over/Under = 49.5
  4. Looks good to me... after years of going to college games, I really don't mind the TV timeouts very much. More than anything I just think it's kinda neat to see the local schools on national TV.
  5. Need to edit the note to mention it's on ESPNU. If I had to guess... I'd probably make Bradley around a 10 point favorite.
  6. Being able to waste time on message boards is a great luxury. Thank goodness for the internet.
  7. Told you guys Baylor was good... it's rare that even a 6A school can compete with the top private schools in the state. Good effort though.
  8. Austin Sanders - Bradley Central Committed to Tennessee Blake Bars - MBA Committed to Michigan... offers from Florida, LSU, Penn State, Clemson, Boston College, and quite a few more.
  9. So excited about the ESPNU game... gotta be the biggest sporting event in Bradley County in years.
  10. Walker Valley using their timeouts with less than 20 seconds trying to avoid the shutout... and they fail. 42-0 Bradley FINAL
  11. Backups are in for Bradley... doesn't appear to matter.
  12. Yep... Walker Valley just turned the ball over on downs again. But I suspect that Walker Valley may have gotten screwed out of a down on that first drive.
  13. And Walker Valley goes for a 4th and forever from the wrong side of the field... kudos for not quitting, but they ran it... which is incomprehensible.
  14. Bradley penalized for extending halftime. That's a weird one.
  15. Not really convinced that Cleveland has been "up" at all this year. Their wins are against 0-7 Walker Valley by 7, 2-5 Chattanooga Central by 5, and an inexplicable 35 point win at Red Bank. Honestly, they've been "down" in 6 out of 7 games. Slaughter may be a great guy, but this Cleveland team isn't very good which is inexplicable given their talent level. Not sure what it could really be if it isn't coaching. unapproved website has them ranked #134 in the state, which is beyond unacceptable at Cleveland. Of course they'll still make the playoff because they only have to beat Walker Valley and Rhea.
  16. Bradley with 13 rushes for 210 yards, 239 yards passing, 449 total yards Walker Valley with 28 rushes for 85 yards, 25 yards passing, 110 total yards Walker Valley had the ball 18 minutes, but Bradley was essentially scoring in one play on every drive.
  17. Good grief... who at Meigs thought this was a good idea?
  18. Your name sounds like an Ooltewah one... but Bradley was built on a country club too.
  19. Honestly, the only refs I've ever thought just reeked of home cooking were the ones at Cumberland County years ago(actually witnessed an official high five a kid on a TD run along with ~5 TDs called back for holding). Other than that, I can't really say that I've noticed anything close to bias. I've seen poorly called games, and sometimes it goes disproportionately against your preferred team... but sometimes it doesn't. We just tend to ignore it when the refs help us, and freak out when they hurt.
  20. ESPN still shows the game as being televised, and I've heard nothing to that effect from anyone remotely official.
  21. They have the same problem Bradley did for years... total indifference on the part of administrators in regards to their football program. More concerned with getting a local guy than hiring a proven coach, so even though Lockerby's Tennessee Tech defenses were generally among the worst in the country they hired him in a heartbeat just because he available.
