  1. Hear there is a bad storm brewing in the mountains. Alot of thunder and lighting. Storm headed north toward Hampton should be there around 7:30pm. Could be a knock out storm.
  2. I am sure that WG has improved. Sounds like the coach is moving in the right direction. But the law of average is against WG tonight. 1) Since 1990, WG has only one 3 home openers, and 4 season openers 2) WG only has recorded a record of 38 wins and 144 losses since 1990. A team can be improved but a winning attitude has to be instilled also and that doesen't happen in one season. You are getting there, but it will take time. I think the game will be close for a half but CHS talent and tradition will take over in the second half.
  3. No I am not a teacher in school, but I am a Youth Minister in Valley Forge so I do teach. I pull for and have attended some of the Hampton games this year. There are two kids that play football and numerous friends that I have that I worship with on Sunday, FROM HAMPTON!! I can't speak for the other "fans" but I know there are many people in Roan Mtn that are pulling for Hampton.(just not tonight). The fact is I admitted accidentally calling him that. If it was done on purpose I would have called him that all night. The accusation was it was childish and classless. My point was the accussation was wrong because nobody came to me and ask me about it. Just jumped to conclusions. Like I said before the day I belittle any one, that will be the day that I turn the mike in. I have had the privelige of calling CHS games for 17 years. It is an honor and I try to do my best and we have fun doing it. I have been to other stadiums where the visitors get no recognition, just humuliation. I am a true Lander and I do get excited, I think they call that home field advantage.I have explained my postion twice and will do it no more. I do not live in the past. My eyes are set on a much bigger future.I am a human and do make mistakes. It was not done intenionally and I am sorry if I offended you. If there is anyone that hasn't made a mistake then come on up tonight because I would like to shake your hand. Good luck to both teams tonight. Scott
  4. I am here to tell you that wasn't done on purpose. There were a couple of times I did call him that but I corrected myself and I even apologized to the Grace's coaching staff that was in the booth. We call each other has beens and wannabees and I got tounge tied and accidentally said wannabee instead of wannamaker. No harm was intended. I even gave him cudos to the coaches. Outstanding player. The day I begin to demeaner players will be the day that I pass on the mike. I will say that the Grace coaching staff was one of the best group of men that has ever sat in the box. After the game we all shook hands, said God Bless and went home. Odd how we make accusations without facts. Voice of the Highlanders Scott
  5. Well put AZazno. Even the press guys were wondering why Grace never threw the ball in OT. The better team won the game. Great job guys. Hampton-42 Sad Valley- 6
  6. That was one of the better football games that I have seen in a long time. Congrats to Coach Turbyfill and his staff for doing a remarkable turnaround. Very few gave them a chance to even make the playoffs. I just wish we had more fans in attendance. We had better show up next week because Hampton will be bringing a bunch of fans. This will be one heck of a game at Orr Field. BTY I just finished looking at the Johnson City Press. It is a shame that they didn't even cover the game. Even got the score wrong.
  7. I watched Unaka at Hampton. Unaka only ran several plays(runninig). Not much of a passing game. CHS dominates this one. CHS- 35 Rangers- 6
  8. You are wrong ny friend. The Landers not only will win tonight, but they will win the remaining 3 games after tonight and will again be the REGION 1 CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Live with it.
  9. Cloudland wins in a close one. They know what's on the line with a victory. CHS-28 Jellico-22
  10. Evidently jack, you haven't watched many games, because Cloudland has passed well all year. Winchester has passed for over 800 yards. They don't need to impress while on the field, all they need to do is do the things to get the win. They have played "above themselves" all year because no one thought they would be near this good, but these boys are tough and are out to prove a point. CHS football is back and they will win tomorrow night. CHS- 24 Coalfield- 7
  11. Hey Coach Moser, how does it feel to get beat by a team with the worst field, fans, dressing rooms, etc.? I am sure the bus ride back was a long, cold trip.Midway had a good team, but I think eveyone thinks Cloudland is a door mat. Well think again. We should have beat Hampton. If the coaching staff would have kicked PAT's rather than the 2 points, I believe we would have won.Cloudland should have beaten Midway by three td's, but turnovers hurt. CHS wants redemption against HAmpton and I think they will get that chance.
  12. Cloudland will win, no doubt about it. CHS- 24 Hampton- 16

    mike who

Amen brother, Mike who? The Lunsfords leaving has been the best thing for CHS. I am glad he is gone. He was no caoch. Just had great talent. The only year he didn't have talent he won two games. We have a good coaching staff and many more boys want to play since mike is gone. The way the Jr High team is looking I wouldn't be surprised if mike will want to come back to CHS after this year. And I would hold the ring size for state champs Hampton. There shall be no turkey day play for you cause the turkey will be roasting in Roan Mountain baby.
  14. 2 reasons 1) He wants to be where he thinks he can win a ring. When the talent left Cloudland he went to avery. They had a great team but not many returning so he now goes to Hampton where there is suppose to be a team that is loaded. But to his surprise Cloudland is too loaded this year and will be ready for a great season. 2) Many lander fans, including myself, feel that mike gave the game to CAk two seasons ago. Being up by three scores in the third would usually prove to be a win, but he made some really silly play calls and changed the defense, etc that let CAK comeback and eventually pull the biggest upset in lander land in history. He knew he wouldn't be back so he didn't care.
  15. Cloudland by two td's GO LANDERS
  16. I don't see the Rangers making it past the 1st quarter in the 1st round. They showed me nothing. The only thing they did was hold CHS to under 70 points this year. Where was the passing attack, running game? The best they play they made was walking off the field.
  17. I like the new writer, she is really nice. I for one am glad that wes is gone. He is just another band wagon fan.
  18. I agree. No disrespect to Unaka, but their schedule is weak. I'm sure it will be a good game, but CHS has picked the right time to gel and they are playing with more confidence. Plus, CHS has been in this type of game situation for many years. The LAnders won't dissappoint. Cloudland wins big.
  19. I seriously doubt that. CHS will beat Unaka, just be a closer game. You guys won't be able to win the big games.
  20. I totally agree. It doesn't matter what kind of weather we would have had we still wouldn't have scored more than a couple of td's. Everyone needs to realize that this team is not a CHS team of old. BJ did have a heck of a game but in the first four games I see no blocking, no passing game and no offensive threats. The QB is probably one of the worst we've had. The only thing that stopped the NG passing was Ivan. I feel that we will win our conference because it is the worst in the state and we have all the conference games at home and Unaka really hasn't played anyone. I hope the landers will improve as the second half of the season draws near. We will have to endure a few more lopsised losses before the year is over.
  21. From what I hear the only thing the king can pump are hot dogs up to his mouth. As I recall the king never even started, he was the water boy. I agree Lunsford didn't make the football team. The only year he didn't have talent was in 1998 and we see what happened, 2-8. He knew what was coming up and he knew it was time to get out of dodge. Kieth has pratically run the offense, he will do good, just doesn't have the talent from the past. As I recall it was Kieth who was against changing defensive schemes for the playoffs, but all the other coaches went aginst him and we see what happened, upset. The lamders will be just fine.
