  1. Hey linski2006 I have been there i know where you are coming from believe me i do but sophmores still need game experience even if it is a J.V. game. I didn't like them and i don't think anyone does but you have to agree with me that the sophmores do need experience. and ask coach lester if you don't believe me he will be honest with you about it. And i am saying this and i am qouting a coach at one time( INJURIES HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR JOB ) now that is not true all of the time i will grant you that because i have had good friends get hurt during practice and they were doing right but anyways i am getting carried away. Remember i am a 2001 graduate my number was #58 so i know what you are going through. GREAT GAME THIS PAST FRIDAY KEEP IT UP #27 i think that's your number. BY the way just keep showing up in the 4th qt. you db's are making things happen.
  2. Hey VOREBS i have been getting there early by at least 6:00 but the covington game i just so happened to be speaking to one of the coaches that was kind enough to fax over the rosters and who assured me there would be no problem with the booth. I was thanking him in person which is the right thing to do since in all honesty i am a guest and i wanted to show my appreciation. And that put me ten minutes behind my regurlarly scheduled time. Yes it is hard to get there early when this is a second job. I do understand that and i know i am a newbie and will have to start from the bottom and i have no problem with that it is expected. But the situation is resolved i spoke to the one of the guys who was there and he apologized to me and it is all water under the bridge... Yeah central looked great but the offense could do a little better job masking the option because 85% of the time #7 rolls to the right and will be looked at by other coaches and key on it. Hats off to #44 he was my offensive player of the game cause he wore them down. And also my defensive player of the game was #62 he had 4 QB hurries and 1 sack not to mention the other tackles. GREAT WIN FOR O.C. LET'S GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!! thumb
  3. That is what i did i was nice and the problem resolved itself on it's own without any of my doing they were wrong and covington's crew in the pressbox resolved before i had a chance to. I just want to be givin the same respect i give everyone else and i don't neccessarily get that because of the situation and how it has ended up(DC). I believe they thought i was a reason for him no longer working for the radio station and in turn take it out on me. But i have my head high and i am hopeful that the situation will resolve itself in it's own due time. THANK YOU!thumb 2004 - 07:39 AM] If you stay with this business, you'll have many encounters with the wonderful people in the media. We can all be, um, how shall I say this, snippy sometimes. Some feel that they are more important than others and it comes accross in any type of difficult situation. The best way to handle it is to be nice and walk away...find the person in charge of the pressbox and discuss the situation with them - if needed. It's a wonder that some folks in our business can fit their head into a pressbox that they feel should be named after them. 825353712[/snapback]
  4. hey VOREBS i know what you mean i too wish we had the play by play back but there is nothing that i can do about it either i am stuck in the middle just like the rest of us. But i think we are doing a great job with what we are doing but to others it might not sound like we are and i need your help on one thing i had an encounter with an employee of a local tv show at the covington game and hopefully you can give some advice on how to handle that situation cause you having all of your years of knowledge maybe can help me. Talk to you next home game. GO REBELS!!!!!
  5. LETS GO REBELS REBELS 28 UNION CITY 24
  6. hey chattanooga i know what you mean. I rolled in every other series on defense in varsity games but not on offense. JV games gave me real game situations that you can't get in practice. It allowed you to think on your feet and get a feel of your position and i did this as a sophmore and a junior. I didn't like doing it by no means. And yes i got injured in a JV game my junior year at Graves County. I was playing offense that night but because a sophmore got hurt on defense i had to go to defense as well. I never came out of the game except only on kick off and returns was i on the sideline. Late in the third qaurter i got crack blocked in the back the same time a lineman was pulling and hit me in the ribs and bruised them. But i kept playing the coaches didn't want me out but with about 3 min. left in the 4th i could not breath and Coach Kendall remembers this but it showed to them how much i wanted to get better but to answer your question that if you are a starting sophmore and get hurt at a JV game i believe the coaches have to do what they have to do. I don't like the scenario but what else are you gonna do they need the experience!
  7. yes VOREBS it was a friendly spot indeed and i could see that from the pressbox but they had done that a couple of times last night. an intresting thing happened an older gentlemen a fan of covington came up to the press box after the game still wearing all of his purple and gold and told me that #44 cole clanton really showed the covington side something last night they said he played with more heart than he had seen anyone play with in all of his years there. He always got up and never quit going. This gentlemen did not know me or any of the kids but this shows you the kind of respect our O.C. football is getting even with a 0-4 record just thought all of ya'll might like to know. Great game and tough loss. GO REBELS!!!
  8. YES MICHAEL KEATON was a great batman the new movie starring Christian Bale is going to beat all of them(he is the psycho from American Psycho). thumb
  9. Hey chattanooga i know what you mean and i was screaming for a tackle in the press box! hopefully this past week wasn't a sign of what is to come. It's not that they weren't tackling well yes they weren't but when they brokedown in the secondary to make a tackle #8 just went right around them he was fast. also the offensive line completely broke down but ol #7 did a great job passing which i think everyone was wanting to see but he ran a whole lot from defense breaking through the line or i think there would have been a lot more. Also they did a good job by taking him off defense so he could get some rest but he might have to go back on but i would put him at free safety so he could stay halfway fresh. yeah it's great when you score thirty points but it don't mean jack if they score 48. But they showed great heart by not giving up and just kept grinding it out that is when you see what type of team you have if they give up or fight adversity and stay in the game and play it like it is 0 to 0. Great trick plays loved em. GO REBS!!!
  10. hey OCCHSFANVIACHATTANOOGA that is about right the o-line is a good size but the defense is very small the team as a whole is no where the size that they were when i played primarily in 2000 when the average size on the line both offense and defense was about 285 lbs. and 6'3". but they don't have to be that big if they do their job right last year O.C. got further in the playoffs than we did that year because they were disciplined and in shape unlike us. But their lack of conditioning hurt them this past friday cause they showed they were tired when they stopped wrapping up. And yeah they need to get more than physical they need to get mad. I know when i was there if i missed a tackle or screwed up you better believe i was getting an earfull from the D.B.'s mainly Zach Roberts because i left them out there covered and trying to make a tackle too. So but yeah they need to get really physical.
  11. FullcourtPress If the people you have talked to have stopped pulling for a team because of the radio then they are not true fans. As a former member of the O.C. football team 1997-2001 I agree that kids like the spotlight and some need the assurance from others that had heard them on the radio to verify their style or level of play. But football is a team sport 11 players on the field as a cohesive unit not just one. Their level of play will be justified by the score on the board. Their coaches should be all the guidance that they need. In the past yes Central has had the oppurtunityto be covered by play by play but now if they do a good job they won't have to go back to the radio and listen to see if their name was called out for making a tackle or making a great pass. The joy they should feel is from the teammates who come up and say good block or great hit. I feel that i have done a good job announcing the kids who have done great in the game the ones whose name that i haven't called is either by mistake or that they were overshadowed by someone at the same position who make big plays when it counts. But i believe by doing the updates it gives the other schools more coverage and just as much and no not more recognition than other schools. So please keep an open mind when having the kids best interest and not just blow off some other school because a friend or a relative does not go there. These are kids and should be able to enjoy themselves without everyone getting upset because other kids as well are being covered. Just my opinion and I am not passing judgement it is good that every has a voice that everyone should use it. GO REBELS!!!
  12. redbirdfan thank you for the kind words of inspiration and i look forward to learning more this season from the fans, the players, the coaches, and from you.
  13. iamasportsstar thank you very much and i do believe that i will get better but unlike other people i have to get better in a hurry because i want to represent my team the best i possibly can.
  14. rebfan65 thank you for apologizing i feel that i am in the middle of a dispute that i had nothing to do with and people who know me will say that i am unconfrontational and do not like to be put in situations like the on earlier by the way do i know you. Yes i misqouted Danny Carr there is i don't believe any tension between himself and I. And yes I do believe that the play by play being taken off was a mistake but i support my team and the county still along with Y105 and i do not question the reason for it being taken off.
  15. Listen up RebFan65 this one goes out to you what is your problem with me i am doing the best that i can i was asked last minute and i have been told that i am doing a great job and my family business has nothing to do with it as well it was a gesture shown to me by some of the employees of Y105 and WQAK. And since i am not the sharpest knife in the drawer and that they should find someone else hmm let me see i am on the radio and you are sitting behind your computer complaining on a website rather than calling the radio station or e-mailing them that way you can voice your displesure but until then I will be doing my updates while your on the computer. Don't talk crap either because i hav edone nothing to offend anyone and i spoke to danny carr about it tonight and we are cool with it why can't you be along with everyone else!!!
  16. Well the uniforms were meant to have red in them but the people messed them up and they were afraid that they would not have enough time to get them back more or less it was a screw up and i was told this.
