  1. Agreed. There are a couple of large AAU tourneys that a small college could go to to see a lot of kids; they don't have to go to a lot of tourneys. I don't see it as a waste of money if the kid loves to play. It's no different than traveling around for dance, cheerleading, or those annoying beauty pageant competitions. It is family time. However, motive should be considered.
  2. AAU is the way to go to be seen. Not every college has the resources to visit the various high schools to see kids play. An AAU tournament provides lots of looks at lots of kids...one-stop shopping. Parents should take an active role in promoting their child; don't leave it to your high school coach. The coach can help, but parents should take the lead role.
  3. Where is the district bracket information? GO LIONS!
  4. Wow! I started to say more, but that other CPA thread says enough..."WOW!" is enough here.
  5. Well, before it all comes crashing down, you all should go see CPA boys play some basketball. You will be amazed! It is quite the show!! Cheaper and more fun than other sports around here right now.
  6. I had said you wouldn't know because you weren't there, but that was your first year. Nevertheless, there was plenty of talk when you had a line consisting of James Corder, Steven Ross, Cooper Wallace, Johnny Shields. Latimer, Stone, the Atchisons...it was loaded with talent! CPAers started bringing out the annuals to show that all these kids were there in kindergarten. Different eras, but still a lot of complaints.
  7. Why did you pick "kbrks" as your screen name? It makes it hard to hear your message when people know your past affiliation with CPA. I'm not at all surprised, and certainly not upset, at the attacks on CPA. Success brought them back in the day, and it brings it now. As I said, if CPA is behind the rule it will be addressed eventually. In the meantime, this forum provides an informative update on CPA teams. It's amusing, as well. It would be too late to pick a different screen name now; your posts would give it away.
  8. Ok, Chief, Alex Tucker. Not 6'6", not 230 lbs. Drove all the way from Murfreesboro. Great kid, but no star athlete. Sikes (with an 'i", not a "y") did not go to elementary at CPA. He was not recruited, though; just clarifying. Our 2000 State championship football team took all sorts of grief because the line averaged 200 lbs. in Class 1A. Grow 'em or bring 'em in, people don't like being dominated in sports. There must be some shananigans going on if you win that much. Back then, the Collinwoods of the world wanted us out of 1A because they couldn't get to State. Bring in the multiplier. Then, it's 2A...then 3A...now D2. If CPA is behind the rule it will eventually come out. Meantime, you and the Ken Brooks of the world can continue to rant. Oh, the injustice!
  9. Strange?? Now, THAT'S odd! You went into a school's population of students, faculty, and parents and found people saying negative things about the program? Unimaginable!! Hard to imagine, too, that in a population the size of CPA you can't find A BUNCH of 230 lb, 6'6" Cooper Wallaces or guys with the speed and hands of a Brian Stone. CPA has had kids that drive from Murfreesboro to attend school there and they couldn't dribble, throw, or catch a pass. Odd...SO odd! When CPA did have the Wallaces, the Shields, the Stones, the Corders people STILL complained that life was unfair. Just no pleasing some people.
  10. I can't say I ALWAYS pass on speaking of things I know nothing about, but that would be the case here. To watch Jalen throw down a monster dunk is a thing of beauty. How this team came to be is for others to hash out. I hope they win it all! I don't want to jinx it by saying they will win it all.
  11. I'm speaking of the '02-'03 season when CPA hosted both district and region tournament. We lost in the first game (play-in game) and were out for the rest of the district and regional games.
  12. I know you have all the win-loss records during your coaching time at CPA, Ken. CPA did not make it beyond the play-in game for the district in 2002, I believe. That does not mean it was a losing regular season, though. There would not be any talk during prior years because CPA worked with kids that grew up in the school. It is a different climate now, and that fact has been beaten to death on these boards.
  13. Can't wait to see CPA play in 2012! Haven't been to a game in awhile. Good luck to the Lions the rest of the season!!
  14. Good luck to CPA! I'll be texting my source for scoring updates. SO excited for you!!
  15. Good luck to CPA tomorrow night! Win or lose, you've gone further than any CPA team since 2002 AND you are doing it in 3A. Exciting times!!!
  16. Where is the imbalance? It's not them against you. There are others that think CPA is behind the rule. The problem is...YOU WERE A COACH THERE! You've not just burned a bridge, you've burned a bridge and everything within miles and miles of the place! If you ever wanted to coach again you'd have to coach in Europe!! It's okay for people to support their team and coach. Let them enjoy.
  17. Oh, my! I was really hoping you'd decided to give it up and drop this vendetta you have against CPA. You've made your point over and over and OVER! We get it, we ALL GET IT!! PLEASE...find a nice hobby to occupy your time. You came to CPA, you coached, you had some good years, they decided to go in another direction...DONE. Thank you for your service!
  18. At least he doesn't hide who he is, and few people are listening because of who he is and what happened 5 years ago. They teach you to question things over at CPA. Please re-read your message and check the tone of it.
  19. I said,"ONE OF THE REASONS we sent our kids to CPA..."; it was certainly not the main reason. Nevermind my kids; they worked hard and competed very well. That cry of bitterness you speak of just stirs the pot. Kbrks has good points, but the accusation of being bitter causes people to ignore his opinions. That's why I believe someone else should care the banner.
  20. Understood, but this forum doesn't promote change, that I can see. It's just opinions, some truth, a lot of half-truths, a lot of outright misinformation. I'd say someone other than you would have to carry the banner in some other way than "Coacht" to get anything done. My bottom line is that it's sad to see what attracted us to CPA, sportswise, is taking a turn. D2 is coming their way!
  21. I agree with kbrks on this matter; it's just the repetitiveness! I know his history with CPA and am sympathetic, but we all know life is not fair. Live well, kbrks! CPA will probably go D2 so they can openly do what they are being accused of now. It's unfortunate for the average athlete who won't get a chance to play. One of the reasons we sent our kids to CPA was because they would have a chance to play lots of sports, and they did. The times they are a'changin'!!
