  1. i went to this game and Fulton is one of the worst teams I have ever seen. TSD would have beaten them 46-8 tonight.
  2. that's a big win for Catholic HS.
  3. If Alcoa put Cobb at QB and split 4 WR out wide (including Lindsey, Warren, and Shiverdecker) every play...they could beat anyone IMO. In high school football you really don't truly have "dime" packages because those extra DBs are 2nd and 3rd string. That way you could hope for zone coverage every down, and if they were in man just run Cobb toward the boundry vs. a LB. It would be totally unstooppable in my opinion. Heck put Fiegler out wide with the rest of those boys.
  4. man i'm an AHS grad i'm i'm calling you out for being a bandwagon MHS fan. Before the game you were talking a bunch of trash about how BAD Alcoa was going to drill Maryville. More than ANYONE you talked about the "D1 talent" and essentially made the rest of us Alcoa fans look like lunatics. Way to jump on the "Maryville is 4A bandwagon" after they creamed our butts. At least have some pride and continue to talk trash.
  5. Powell lost to Webb they should definitely not be on there. I like polls based on subjectiveness. Somebody from Nebraska could look at Knoxville area teams' records and rank them based on their wins/losses. IMO that just makes a boring poll.
  6. guys in case anyone forgot they played last Friday night. Maryville is better than Alcoa by leaps and bounds. Coaching, players, conditioning, etc all make a difference in football games. Alcoa is not BETTER than Maryville this year. That's why these games actually take place.
  7. so athletes can normally race 5K road races during season? I thought you weren't allowed to do that. If keeping the distance at 3 miles allows athletes the loophole to race 5Ks on the road i'm totally supportive of keeping the distance at 3 miles.
  8. I simply cannot understand a single justification for running 3 miles instead of 5K.
  9. it won't take an hour to stand in line (there are like 3 gates now). However if you've never been to this game before do not underestimate how crowded it will be. Seats are few and far between. Getting there early is highly recommended if you want to sit down during the game (i don't know if you're an old man or not )
  10. if you get there at 6 o' clock you'll be fine. I would imagine this is such a big game that they will sell as many tickets as possible. If you actually want to SIT during the game I wouldn't get there at 6:01.
  11. Whether it's true or not, a high school coach should not say things like that to the newspaper. It's no surprise to me that he's got kids being ejected from games with an attitude like that. Some people just aren't as smart as others I guess. Hopefully not too many people read that far into the article -- that is pretty embarassing.
  12. aside from Fulton, AAA is terrible.
  13. 1. Alcoa 2. Rockwood 3. Sweetwater 4. Loudon 5. CAK 6. Wartburg 7. O. Springs
  14. i get what you're saying, all i'm saying is. A DB is just as likely to slip turning his hips as a wideout is off the line....if it's raining.
  15. If it rains it's the same for both teams, so I never give much credence to the thought that speedy people aren't fast in the rain. If you're a good athlete you can run fast in the rain. If it were raining while Alcoa was on offense and NOT raining while Maryville was on offense then I would agree with you, but it's raining both teams have to deal with footing issues and a LB is just as likely to slip as a TB.
  16. The difference is going to be whether Maryville's QB can do something. Let's just assume Alcoa/Maryville both have good OL/DL and RBs. Maryville isn't going to win this game by running it 50 times.
  17. BW is not playing Friday. From a very very very reliable source I learned he will not be playing this Friday. The trash talking needs to be more focused toward something else imo. In my day, a story like this would be 2nd page. The student bodies are the ones that hate each other and commit various pranks against one another. This is pretty weak considering how big this game is going to be.
  18. i'm going to go ahead and predict a fight at the Loudon vs. Alcoa game. I know it's early, but I just feel it in my bones.
  19. have you never seen Rae Sykes? I believe he will ultimately be the most high profile player in AHS history. That's a bold statement, but he certainly has the size/speed to be extremely, extremely talented in college.
