Man I really disagree that Alcoa wasted their time playing Hopkinsville. So often teams play in their region or their "geographical" region and never really experience what it's like to play WAY outside their little bubble. Alcoa's main goal isn't "beat Maryville at all costs." If it were, I would agree with you. But having game experience vs. Hopkinsville, Fulton, and McCallie will eventually yield a more well rounded and appreciative team. This is totally despite whether they beat Maryville or not, that is just a bonus if they beat Maryville. Having played Hopkinsville Alcoa is a better team than they were the week before. In my opinion, with or without Warren that makes a big difference when next week is Maryville.

i honestly don't see alcoa attempting any field goals. I know the guy from Alcoa kicked it through during the state title game last season, but if Alcoa is in "range" of a FG I think 9/10 they'll throw it up for grabs.

i'm thinking that extra points are going to end up being a really big deal during this game.

so is Alcoa going to appeal? I know everyone from Alcoa is hopeful, but without compelling evidence what exactly are they going to use as their defense? There is absolutely no way TSSAA is just going to take their word for it. They're going to have to have some kind of really convincing video or an appeal is ridiculous.

If I could get Steve Bledsoe alone into a 10x10x10 room i'd pay $5000 cash on site. *edit, by the way has anyone ACTUALLY seen the tape of last week's game that the Alcoa AD will be submitting to TSSAA? I'm curious to hear someone's opinion about how convincing the replay is.

There were about 50 other players that DIDN'T get ejected from the game Friday. For WHATEVER reason the guy was ejected (SO WHAT if the refs were BS) -- there's no excuse for being ejected from a high school sporting event. period. Retaliation is not a viable excuse at all. Hopefully BW will learn from this and recognize the consequences of defending his pride from now on. I honestly and sincerely hope the absolute best for the guy.

THAT i have no idea about. But, i'm not a Hopkinsville fan so I don't really care about the other guy in the fight. Brandon is THE best player in TN this season, he has no business fighting with guys no matter what. To me, that shows a lot of arrogance on his part. He apparently thinks that it's okay to sell his teammates out in order to protect his personal pride. People talk about intangables from "great players" -- this is a case of exactly the opposite, almost like Peter Warrick from Florida State. He apparently has no concept of accountability, and I hope for his sake this will be a great life-lesson.

ROFL that OHS almost lost to Cookeville. Good games guys.

bottom line is: he was thrown out of the game. I have enough faith in the refs that they wouldn't have thrown him out for NO REASON at all. There is absolutely NO excuse for getting thrown out of a game. How can you argue with that? In what situation is it "okay" for you to get thrown out of a HIGH SCHOOL football game? If you can think of a good reason please enlighten me.

i'm an Alcoa fan, and I would rather play with decent and respectable people and LOSE than play with a bunch of knuckleheads and win. I mean that. I don't, however, think that Warren's "lack of playing time" vs. Maryville will create a losing situation for Alcoa. It will certainly make it much harder considering he's the state's #1 player, but I think the QB from Maryville is still going to have to show off in order for Maryville to win next week. Dont' get me wrong, it's going to be a good game -- I would never pick Alcoa to win vs. Maryville if $$$ was on the line.

getting in a fight during a game is totally unacceptable and there is NO excuse for selling out the rest of your team in order to save your own pride. Who cares what was said or who did what, mature and reasonable people don't FIGHT during sporting events. I don't know this guy personally, but I definitely have a different opinion about him now. He doesn't deserve to play against Maryville, I just hope the rest of the team isn't too distracted by this guy's stupid attitude.

there is probably an appeals process, but it's not likely that Warren will be playing vs. MHS next week. What an idiot.

Is the game going to be broadcast on Internet radio?

It was apparently organized by the booster club in order to generate revenue on old tshirts and so forth. The autographs and stuff, from my understanding, were more or less just a gimic for the elementary school kids. They look up to the football players a lot, so it's fun for them. If teachers and other students were ASKING for autographs then I think that's weird.

I know for darn sure Rainer ran 10.37 for 100m. I was there and it wasn't wind aided or hand-timed. This was during a USATF sanctioned track meet.

Alcoa has great athletes, sure, but it's not like the guys from MHS are fat, slow, and dumb. When you start making comparisons based on a 3rd party then it's getting into a lot of gray area in my opinion. I think it will be harder for MHS to win if they can't throw it though. Their QB is going to have to keep Alcoa honest. You never know though, MHS could rush for 300 yards and win 35-0.

My thoughts: If Alcoa can sustain any type of consistant passing game then DL will get his 100+ yards and Alcoa will win. For Maryville to win their QB is going to have to impress us all, I don't think they're going to get it done this year by just being deep and well balanced.
