  1. I would say Mike will be a candidate for any head coaching position in Blount Co, but I don't see any reason he would leave MHS any time soon.
  2. I am glad to see Coach Meadows is coming back. He has had some very tough personal situations that we are all lucky that we have not had to face. I respect Scott and he has a great family. I think it's great that he was able to take this year off and put his family first. For the most part Blount Co, Alcoa, and Maryville are blessed with football coaches at our schools that are not only good coaches but excellent men at the Middle Schools and High Schools. Good luck to WB as they regroup after a difficult year that was plagued by the loss of a huge number of talented starters from the 2007 team and then injuries that devestated this years players/team.
  3. There was an excellent crowd for a middle school game, but nowhere near 6500. Everyone got to see a great game. I would say the visitor side MIGHT have been 1/2 full. The home side was also about 1/2 full. People had plenty of room to spread out in the middle section of the home side, and most of the visitor side were sitting at the South end of the stands due to the sun. Both teams gathered together in the middle of the field at the end of the game. Both coaches had nothing but praise for the play of the other team.
  4. This sounds like a stat that a fathereb (and mothereb) would know.
  5. My understanding is that the Jamboree will be August 15. I believe that it is going to be at Heritage now that Chip Fuller is the AD at HHS.
  6. What is involved? Where and when do they practice and wrestle? Is it possible to juggle Team TN and baseball? I have a 5th grader that wrestles 85#. He usually weighed in at about 82# this year.
  7. Where is Coffee Co in relation to Tullahoma? We have people on the road to Tullahoma, so I'm sure they'll be told at the Tullahoma weighins.
  8. It was great seeing him working out at Cherokee Health and Fitness in the artcle the other day. Great facility and Sports Performance training here in Blount Co. It's nice to see Carl doing well. He was an excellent kid to be around at MHS during his playing days. He is one of my kids all time favorite MHS players.
  9. They're expecting about 600 kids at the East Regional at WBHS tomorrow. A large # are in Bantams and especially midgets, who will wrestle in PeeWee State 3/8, but there are juniors, middle school and some high school kids as well trying to qualify for state tournament 3/15. We have about 60 kids from Maryville wrestling club competing tomorrow, and there are still Blount Co clubs at Alcoa, Wm Blount, Greenback (not really Blount Co, but we like to consider them Blount Co) and Heritage, as well as the Seymour, Sevier Co, Pigeon Forge clubs. I don't think there are many of the top HS wrestlers, but I know there are a lot of good junior and middle school wrestlers that will be there hoping to wrestle in the state tournament.
  10. 1st of all, it's not all about the $$$. It would have been a better fit if they had been talking to him about the QB or receivers coaching positions rather than the tight end coach. Despite the fact that he would have been coaching Aaron Douglas and potentially Brandon Warren, his strengths would have been better used with QBs or receivers. It would have allowed him to have more input into the offense with the potential progression into an OC position then HC position. I for one am happy to have him at MHS for at least 1 more year along with his current great group of assistant coaches. I hate to see Coach Pinkerton stepping down, but he is moving in a different direction with his career. Coach White will be a nice addition to this great group of men. It appears UT made a nice hire for the tight end coaching position, I assume the OC will be the QB coach, he brought in his own receivers coach, and they also made a nice hire in the RB coaching position. The timing was not right, and Quarles and/or Fulmer were smart enough to realize this.
  11. This last time we moved we were looking for a house either in MV or Alcoa. We have many friends in Alcoa and hear nothing but good things about the schools. It just happened that the house we found that best fit our needs was in MV where we are also very happy with the schools. My kids play football, soccer, baseball, and wrestle. It's nice that in the youth leagues they are playing with and against kids they will face in middle school and high school from Alcoa and the county schools. I think that's why people outside of Blount Co don't understand it when MV says they don't want to change their game schedule because playing AHS, WBHS, and HHS means so much to all the kids involved.
  12. I think everyone in MV are holding their breath waiting to hear what happens. I personally wish the best for George. He and his staff are the highest quality coaches and great men. The possibility of GQ leaving for the college level has been a possibility for several years, and he will make the decision that is best for his family. I have been looking forward to my sons playing for this group of men, and hopefully by the time they are at MHS GQ will still be there, but if not, the rest of the staff will step up and continue to hold MHS to the high standards they have created. Good luck in your decision George, and I'll pray for you as you make this tough decision.
  13. I decided I needed to join as well since I always enjoy reading the posts even though I seldom post myself. Here at Appalachian Therapy Center we support every Blount County team (Alcoa, Heritage, Maryville, and William Blount as well as our adopted team Greenback), and enjoy CoachT as well.
  14. Seymour wrestled Maryville and William Blount last night. They have a very good team.
