  1. THe last guy was hired last year from Ridgeway Middle, never coached a game because of SCS and Covid-19, and left to be the AD at Rust college.
  2. Germantown is open...again. This will be the 5th coach since 2015-16 season.
  3. If I had to guess it would be in the metro areas. Memphis definantly does (hard to get a job for an outsider), Jackson might. They have big hopes and dreams but still a small town mentality. I can't speak for Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, etc... Also, keep in mind it's way eaiser to drop a non-faculty that it would be anyone else. If it doesn't work you can be kicked to the curb with no real issue.
  4. https://tssaa.org/coaches-education Here are the requirements.
  5. They'll be AA (same as now) in the new classification. It might be good for them. Region 6 District 11 Camden Central High School (Camden, TN) East Hickman High School (Lyles, TN) Hickman Co. High School (Centerville, TN) Stewart Co. High School (Dover, TN) Waverly Central High School (Waverly, TN) District 12 Gibson Co. High School (Dyer, TN) Huntingdon High School (Huntingdon, TN) Milan High School (Milan, TN) Union City High School (Union City, TN) Westview High School (Martin, TN) The issue for any coach at a school like Milan is the coaches all being on board for each other. There will be athletes there but basketball players are built over time. I've heard of places that if a kid tried to play both football and basketball the coaches "made" the kid choose which to play.
  6. We played them back in the 90's when Northside was AAA. DC was AA and we were way out matched in size and athletes. Lambuth's coach came to DC to recruit one of our guys and I remember him commenting that if Northiside did half of what we did in practice they'd compete for a championship every year.
  7. Didn't he leave Haywood and take over the boy's and girl's at Milan a few years ago?
  8. Public to Private isn't usually a big deal. Especially when the parent gets a job in the private school. Private to Public is very hard unless their is a move (legit move like Memphis to Dyersburg not just across town) or there has to be a hardship. An example, we had a kid that played private in Memphis before coming to my public school in Shelby County. His father lost his job and could no longer afford private tution.
  9. They did in Jackson for a few years. It was Liberty High School. They beat a HUGE Mitchell team with Thadeus Young. Jackson doesn't have the talent year in and year out to compete like that. The other cities might be able to pull it together. Just because the kids are good doesn't mean the teams are good. Memphis East was a very special group before Wiseman got there. In many people's minds they were better. White Station High has had more than it's share of future NBA players and they haven't done much since 2009. Free Agency didn't exist for Magic and Bird except for the last few seasons of their career. 1988 was the first year for free agency in the NBA. Bird and Magic both from 79-92. There is a salary cap rule called the Larry Bird Exception that allows players to go over the salary cap to sign a player already on their roster. This whole loyalty idea is comical and exagerrated. The "standard" for success is winning a close second is the amount of money you can make during your playing career. Lebron and every generation after his has been conditioned to win no matter what. That bleeds down in society on all kinds of levels.
  10. And you have zero proof that the transfers didn't do that. Miller, Madlock, and Yates have been there. So have many of the others.
  11. Stop trying to be logical with everyone. They cannot comprehend how all of this is true.
  12. Why not? Sounds like a very odd thing to press and create chaos most of the time but not do it in the first round of the most important game so far.
  13. JSS can be beat if you don't turn it over. They don't shoot it great, they get out of position on D, they aren't particulalry good at blocking out. As soon as their points are taken away from the press and TOs on the half court they're very vulnerable.
  14. Did you bump your head? Hidden family member? The player is the daughter of a distant cousin of mine. I think she might start for the girls team as a sophomore. I'll have another relative in a few years play as well. (she currently plays at Northview) It's another child of a cousin of mine. I've said time and time again nothing justifies a physical assault except a physical assault. Not disgruntled at all. Do you know what was said? Do you know why it was said? What value did it add? What good did it do?
  15. I've said it was wrong and there is no justification. If you need me to say what is understood I will do that just for you. An aggravated assault happended. I think it's a Class C Felnoy in TN. A minor committed the crime. It will be handled in juvenile court. Arlington can self impose anything they want. They failed to protect a person on their property. They can remove themselves from competition. They can suspend/fire their coach. They can expell any Arlington students invovled. They did not. It is my understanding that Arlington Community Schools isn't the one that filed the injunction. It was some of parents of players that did it. As far as who is at fault it can be seen in different ways. I don't expect you to do anything but argue. You can deduct that for yourself.
  16. This is not when you grew up. That is irrelevant. So now you're saying what I said? You always come here saying what you like and what you don't like. What you think is right. What you think is wrong. Fact is there are avenues, especially in our world today, to start things that make a change. If you've said all that you said you did then I have no idea why you would make a post about what I said to another person. Then make that underhanded remark about me also being a teacher. My choice of profession and how I provide for my family has nothing to do with you.
  17. What police reports have you seen? What actual evidence have you seen?
  18. You need to back off. I didn't say anything about you in this at all. You have no reason to come at me here. You wanna get upset about all the other stuff in the other threads then keep it there. You want to really settle this then we can exchange phone numbers. I won't take garbage from you. I sure won't take it here. What I said has been said numerous times in this thread. People from DC want to play like they haven't had their share of trashy moments.
  19. I have a relative that plays. She doesn't know I'm related to her. Shes a guard on the girls team. I think she plays quite a bit. I've heard the fans myself. To bring faith into it is laughable. That has nothing to do with anything here. I didn't say it was anyones fault. You should really knock that chip off your shoulder. Deep down you know McCord isn't liked by the majority in Newbern. You know that McCord does as he pleases and no one says or does anything about it. Arlington failed to protect people on it's campus. That was their fault. They will probably face litigation and lose. A person related to the Arlington coach carried out an attack. That person should be face the law and whatever consequences come with it. If Arlington's coach knew about it or helped plan it she should face the law and be fired and never allowed to coach again. If Arlington players where invovled then the players should be banned for the rest of the year. No one said it was ok for this to happen. However, running your mouth, especially in our word today, will come back to bite you. It might take years. I would like to know what McCord said in practice and how it was neccessary for him to say it out loud. A coach can feel anyway he wants about opposing players and coaches but if it has nothing to do with his game plan there is no, absolutley no value, zero, in speaking it out loud to your players. I would also like to know what he said to gauge the reaction that it brought. There are alot of things that can be let go and should be let go. What did he say that was so bad that someone wanted to attacke him? And if all of this started with that little technical and few words exchanged in the video that was posted on this thread earlier that makes it even more pathetic. That was a wek foul, an undisciplined player, and a coach that lost her cool, along with a referee with a quick whitlse. All of that was a joke. If that was the tinder that started this whole fire then both coaches need to grow up and be adults. I see you didn't address the 2007 incident at Liberty nor the fight at DC with OCHS. Two different coaches two different things.
  20. In no way have I justified anything or anyone. I've said nothing warrants a physical assault other than a phyical assault. Arlington should have the guts to investigate and do the right thing. I'm from Dyer County. I wore Orange and White for 4 years. I've had more sweat drop on the old court (now Northview Middle) than people can imagine. I've been a volunteer coach at 3 Oaks, Northview, and helped a bit at DC. I know the realities of this place. As a teacher I don't want to see kids get punished for things others do. You cannot in anyway shape form or fashion deny how the attitude around DC basketball has morphed since McCord has been there. Coach Hopkins was there from 94-2004 he didn't allow for the nonsense that goes on now. We had great fan support and the fans were welcoming. Pete Frodden took over and nothing like that would have even been considered. Fans were nonexistent so that wasn't a problem. Then McCord gets the job in 2007 immediately the whole program changed in a negative way. The players are running wild not just at school but in town too. I still go back from time to time and talk to some people I went to school with. All I hear is the negative. Coach Hopkins wasn't a people person by any means but no one bashed him 100% of the time. To top it off now visiting fans are saying the DC is a horrible place to go because fans are rude, cursing opposing teams, and just general rude behaviour. That is what is truly telling about how a place is being managed.
  21. Don't act like the people of Newbern aren't just a silly as this too. The whole reason that DCHS and Dyersburg don't play anymore are because of stupity similar to this. Remember ber 2003 when there was a fight at DCHS against Obion County? It all started over a racial slur. What did the TSSAA do then? They only suspended the players invovled. That was an actual fight with players from both teams, on the court, after the game and teams were shaking hands. 2007 Season Dyer County loses to Liberty at Liberty in a very early season game. DC tore the bathroom stall doors off and did other damage to the Liberty bathroom. TSSAA did nothing. This whole attitude can be the majority of West TN. So let's just start calling anything between the Mississippi and Tennessee rivers Memphis.
