  1. I have no bitterness toward SD in fact I go to several of their sporting events. My little brother was at SD around the time that She was winning up there and I thought she really got a bad deal from the community up there. I wish her luck at Ooltewah, I am sure they are glad to have her.
  2. That stacked team started out as 34-1 ninth grade team that coach wood coached. Which player do you think wanted her to stay I can think of a couple that wouldn't be as good as they are now without her working with them. Be interesting to hear what Doodle Bivens and Gary Orr thought of Wood.
  3. Guess your referring to the famous Sal Rende. His problem had nothing to do with his kid had to do with his ego.
  4. Yes, Some of the current parents did have problems, most related to their kids playing time etc, and Lance Sexton was darn lucky to get a scholarship at Lee. Jeff Lebo said he wouldn't touch Sexton with a 10 foot pole because he was a major head case. However, Think what you want.
  5. I can assure you I am not Coach Wood. However, if you check the record Coach Wood did not win with someone elses team she won with the kids she coached from ninth grade through seniors. She also had her best player hurt going into the tournament the year she beat Bradley at Bradley and if you know anything Bradley lost in state final that year by 6 to White Station so that team that she coached definatly had a shot to win it all. As it was she took Soddy-Daisy BB farther than any coach has in 50 years there, So as a member of the community I just think people should give her some credit took alot of guts to be the only female coaching varsity boys in Tennessee and to do it for 5 years, hats off to her. As far as who I am I'll give you a hint I have a track record at SD that has stood for 18 years and will probably never be broken and did have a little brother on the football team a few years ago who was very good.
  6. First of all the woman is not coaching anything at Ooltewah, Just teaching 3 11 grade english classes, so I hear. I think you should check with ricketts and atchley about the real story, there are several other people in the community that know the story too. I guess she really stunk as a coach why don't you take a little time and ask Goodwin, McNeil, Bush, Rende, Reg Johnson, Bobby Smith, Josh Sullivan, Cody Walker or some of their parents, even Lance Sexton. I'm sure you'll get an unbiased opinion since they were able to spend their college savings on something other than school in large part due to the psycho woman. I am sure Coach Wood will be coaching again in the future and to the relief of Robert High, Ron Baker, Ron Shumate, Ken Smith and a few other area coaches of which she beat all but Shumate she most likely will end up coaching a more socially acceptable Varsity Girls program. Perhaps if you did a little homework on the 8 years that she coached from 9th graders to jv to varsity at S.D. you would realize that coaching was not the problem. And btw when SD beats Brainerd again or Bradley at Bradley come back and talk to me about poor coaching.
  7. Good pick and good post Owlfan I think the end result will probably end up somewhere between my pick (36) and your pick (16).
  8. I would probably take CH by 6 over SD this year and SD has "pulled out" a bunch of close ones because they are getting calls from the refs that they never would have given SD last year. Lets be realistic.
  9. All of these kids played last year except McNeil, ricketts and atchley but they were all sophmores. Year older and little bigger this year. They should be fairly fundamentaly sound as they had good coaching as sophmores.
  10. If you knew anything, the new coach didn't bring out any new talent several of the kids on that team that are new this year (ricketts, atchley) wanted to play last year but their parents wouldn't let them play for a woman. And that woman drove McNeil home from practice every day until his mother made him quit. I can assure you that Corey Bush shouldn't have anything bad to say about the old coach, or Ryan Goodwin, or anyone else who actually played for her. What happened up there in my opinion was a bunch of rednecks couldn't stand the fact that a woman was winning at basketball while the football team stunk. So over the last 3 years they began the process of removing her.
  11. They have Chris Foster and Murray? at the wings and Brandon Brown at point as well as Curtis Porter coming off the bench to relieve Westbrook at the low post. With the exception of Russel McNeil (and he probably wouldn't as a sophmore) I don't think any of SD's players would start at Ooltewah this season.
  12. Billy Darden 'really' weighs closer to 175 and Kamou rush is huge but is very weak and afraid of contact he will get abused by westbrook.
  13. Hmm lets see I'll give you a short list of area teams that will beat them by 20... Ooltewah Cleveland Brainerd Bradley Co. No sense even justifying the stupidity of the comment about the rest of the state, White Station, Jackson Northside, etc. would probably beat them by 50. This is the same talent that SD had last year with the addition of a good point guard and a couple of church league ball players. The facade will be shattered on Friday.
  14. Soddy Daisy has played nobody close to Ooltewah to this point in the schedule. Ooltewah has played Cleveland, and McMinn twice. There is a lot of hype at SD about a new coach new gym etc. However, the only thing that could fix that program is new talent of which they have little. McNiel could play for anyone but he is only a sophmore and I look for Brown to shut him down. Ooltewah has a very good team this year.
  15. O.k. here is my pick. Ooltewah -- 78 Soddy Daisy --42 Too much speed on Ooltewah, look for a up tempo game which definatly favors owls. As far as defense predict another box and one zone with brown on McNiel.
  16. I expect this game to be about like the Ooltewah/Christian Heritage game. Cept that CH probably has better post play than SD. Should be a blowout. But I think Baker will keep it close again playing subs most of game. Oh and btw the Nest is the Football field I think this game will be played in the Barn )
  17. Obviously you know nothing about basketball. Old what's his name passed the ball off because Baker ran a Box and One defense and he was the One. Duh. As far as Ooltewah looking like a jv team show me a JV team in town that scores 35 in first quarter and 55 in a half with sophmores and freshmen playing a good portion of the 2nd and 3rd and 4th quarters. Ooltewah could have easily left the starters in a little longer and scored a 100 but Baker had a little class. The game I watched I saw a fairly talented CH team get destroyed by a much quicker and more athletic OHS team. Dunno though guess we'll see what a few others at the game saw.
  18. Seems SD isn't the only one with Football players coming out for b-ball. Blake McDade is playing for the Owls now.
  19. New coach hasn't done anything yet, old coach beat Brainerd first 5 times She played them and beat Bradley at Bradley. Need to do more than beat a few AA teams before the new coach gets any respect.
  20. Really Nokona? You think Soddy matches up with Cleveland, Bradley, Brainerd, East Ridge, CCS, etc. etc.? *lol* I'm sure you didn't mean that just focusing on Ooltewah )
  21. Get back with me when they play their first district or region game AAA is a little bit different than what they have been playing.
  22. Just wait til they play Ooltewah in BBall will be UGLY, course it will probably be the ref's fault.
  23. If the Owls can play 4 solid quarters the game will not be close. If they play like they did against ND in 2nd half Cleveland will blow them out. Just gonna depend on which team shows up the one they had 1st half against ND or the other one.
  24. Obviously Nokona knows what he's talking about anyone remember when SD beat Bradley at Bradley and Brainerd 5 times in a row? They had the toughest schedule in the state that year and the results were losing by 4 to bradley in the region final and bradley came in 2nd in the state losing by 10 to the champion.
  25. Why does it always have to be the refs or some other excuse. When your point guard scores 23 pts and the next highest scorer is last seasons leading scorer with 6 it's pretty obvious without even seeing the game that the point guard is a 1 one on one type player who looks to score rather than pass, will find out when they match up with a team a little better then one of the valley teams.
