  1. 14-9 DA at half. USJ came out hot but didn't take full advantage of three trips to the red zone. All DA since then. #24 out is a big loss for USJ. Loved that look with him at tight end.
  2. USJ might be better this year than last, but the problem is I think DA is too. I've only seen highlights, but it looks like you guys might have a better passing game than last year. Think DA's lines aren't quite what they were last year but still very, very good. Swinea is such a hard runner. If he hits the line of scrimmage with a head of steam, it's asking a whole lot of your db's to try and tackle him for four quarters. DA is the champ and has got to be the favorite until proven otherwise. USJ has a balanced attack on O and some speedsters. They should be able to score a few touchdowns. The question is can the USJ front seven make enough plays in DA's backfield to force some punts? Looking forward to this one!
  3. Hey Bruin fans, I see USJ vs Greenfield on the coacht schedule. Thought we were off until DA? Anybody know?
  4. Got to give a lot of credit to McKenzie. There were a couple of spots where it looked like USJ would take a big lead, but the Rebels never let up. Really well-played game by two good teams. That's a good win for the Bruins against a quality opponent. Still some things to clean up of course. Onto the next game whoever the heck it's against!
  5. Wow, what a catch and run by Tyke Tabor. That's D1 stuff. 35-20 USJ in the 4th.
  6. Game is streaming here by the way: http://tncitylinktv.com/channel/jackson-tv/
  7. 28-12 USJ. McKenzie at midfield now in opening drive of second half.
  8. I was going to post that this game has been a little closer than the score would show, until McKenzie returned that blocked punt. Big opening series!
  9. What a fun game! One bright side of all this mess is we get fun matchups like this one. As a USJ fan, this one worries me a bit. I watched McKenzie vs Peabody a few weeks ago and thought you guys had a big line and some good pieces, just needed to move some players to the right spots. Will be interesting to see what changes y'all have made in the two weeks off. For USJ the question is how they will bounce back from a controversial, emotionally charged game last week. McKenzie is a good team, and USJ will need to avoid the penalties and unforced errors they've had the last two games. That said, with Coach Stroup back in the fold I think USJ will get back on track. I say we win by a touchdown and a field goal. McKenzie has some players, but i think USJ is just a bit better in all three phases of the game. Would love to come to this one but unfortunately I have a little pile of unpaid speeding tickets from that little camera y'all got..McKenzie's most wanted.

    USJ vs JCS

I'm glad this rivalry is back. It's more fun when JCS, TCA and USJ all have good teams. I just wish the game Friday had been at JCS so we could've given it a cool nickname like the "Country Club Lane Screwjob." Maybe we still can..."The Flag-Timeout Continuum", "The Fourth Timeout of the Flagpocalypse", "Four Timeouts and 27 Flags Ago..." I guess even a blind eagle can find a win once a decade or so!

"You need people like me. So you can point your finger and say there's goes the bad guy. So say hello to the bad guy."
  12. Hey can we expect #50 back this year? Only saw he wasn't in game and didn't hear an update if it was given. Kid is having a heck of a season.

On the bright side I don't want to hear anyone accuse us of paying off the refs ever again.

    USJ vs JCS

JCS wins 16-14 with a last second field goal. Can't say it was a great game but what an emotional rollercoaster. Some questionable officiating to say the least. Hate it for the kids to have a game so influenced by officiating. 26 flags? JCS has a great team though. They're right up there with the other top teams in DII-A for sure. A lot of speed, solid line and that QB was eluding pressure all night and made some great throws on the run. Congrats JCS! Hoping for a rematch.

    USJ vs JCS

Great, long drive by USJ to open the second half. Two point conversion good 14-7 USJ.

    USJ vs JCS

7-6 JCS at halftime. 12-13 penalties on USJ so far. Some questionable calls in there but not all of them. Close game but hoping for a better played game in the second half!

    USJ vs JCS

3-0 USJ end of first. Sloppy game so far - particularly by USJ. Knew JCS had weapons on offense but impressed by their defense.

    USJ vs JCS

Two undefeated teams! JCS has easily handled a pretty light schedule so far, but look to have multiple serious weapons on offense. You know they'll have revenge on their minds after last year too. USJ has dominated their opponents so far. I think they're a little more stout up front and will have the best athlete in the field at #1 who is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball. USJ's secondary has yet to be tested like they will be this week though. If Couch Stroup is able to come back in the fold I think USJ is about 7 points better thanks to their size up front. Looking forward to a great game!
  19. BigEdMo, I think the toughness USJ shows comes directly from the head coach. Stroup is a good man, but he does have an edge about him. The same was true with Marley, though of course he had a whole lot of edge! I think having a little bit of that really benefits the boys with it being a private school and blah blah. It was something I thought we'd lost under Bradley. It took Stroup a couple years but it's back now in spades. Have to admit I thought for a moment we might be in for a barn burner when TCA threw that bomb TD pass. Never can count you guys out to figure out an offense over the course of the season. This one was lopsided, but the cupboard isn't bare. Good luck to the Lions the rest of the year!
  20. Trinity has no answer for USJ's speed to say the least. 45-7 at half.
  21. Maybe next year we can organize a blood donation drive and settle once and for all which fan base has the thinner skin? I'll say USJ 28-0 with TCA putting up a good fight in the trenches but USJ wears them down and makes some big plays in the second half.
  22. USJ fan here and I was hoping he was a senior last year! Tough runner.
  23. My spies tell me that TCA's anti-Covid measures now include social distancing on coacht... TCA looks solid, though not spectacular. Good size up front and the defense swarms well. I don't think they have the playmakers to put up many points against a stout USJ D though. At the same time, their D looks tough enough to force USJ to put together some drives and execute better than they have the first two games. I'll say 28-3 USJ in a game that will feel a little closer than the score will look.
  24. 35-3 final. Nice win for USJ though that offense will definitely need to tighten up. Passing game was a little off besides the big plays. Was impressed by the two backup running backs. UC looked like a rebuilding team playing their first game against a Cookeville caliber team. UC has some quality backs, and their line fought hard even though they were overmatched. Could definitely see them improving as the year goes on, but will be tough to make too much noise being so one dimensional.
  25. 21-3 USJ but Union City has settled down a bit, broke a couple nice runs and got a couple stops.
