  1. Obviously, the so-called experts are out in force. 'Man-In-Blue', 'Just the Facts'(see also arm-chair idiots), I am so enthused to see that you know so much about basketball. Man-in-blue, you don't have a clue!(rhymed didn't it). The team from 2004-2005 had a tremendous season. The difference in the team from years past was the defense that was played. A big change from years gone by. Talented, yes. Refined, no. Coach K took a very difficult situation ( no summer camp, summer league, or tryouts because of being hired late) and turned it into a positive for all. Along for the ride??!! How ridiculous!!! He did an incredible job of molding this team into a complete unit( aggressive both offensively and defensively) that could compete with anyone. He instilled a team concept that didn't allow the team to rely on one player alone. Everyone had a purpose and each player bought into this concept. You could see it on the court. If he had been "just along for the ride", maybe a district title, maybe an appearance in the regionals, then a quick exit out of post season play. So, justthefacts, you say you were not impressed with Mangrum's play? Reeder a joke? Please, enlighten us with your vast knowledge of the team and tell us all who deserved to play in front of those two that wasn't already playing? Also, the shot thrown in there about Coach Craig being here would have lead to an undefeated season and state championship was a lame one. Coach Craig did do well while he was here and should be commended for his efforts. To say otherwise is ignorant. But, undefeated and state championships are lofty goals that would be hard to attain for any team. Seems like Jackson North Side (2005 AAA State Runnerup)and Boliver(AA champs 2/3 year in a row) might have had something to say about that. But, again, great season that everyone should be proud of. Players and coaches each had a role in their success. However, justthefacts reminds me of another idiot who bad mouthed Coach K during last season. Could this moron be the infamous TIGER14? I hope not. He was an angry person who definitely needed some counseling. Besides, if you are such a fan of the Tigers, why personally attack specific players by name?? Sounds to me like a disgruntled parent, again. What, did your son lead his 8 year old team in scoring and never play much as a senior? You need to grow up and get a life. Please do not embarass other Tiger fans by claiming to be one. You are a disgrace. And those are justthefacts!! GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TIGER TEAMS THIS FALL!!!!!!!
  2. Congratulations to both teams on big wins last week. Tough losses came to Riverside and Lewis County, but both had great seasons. Surprise! Region 6-2a was supposed to be eliminated after round 1. It is just a shame that they now must play each other. Round 1 went to Camden by the score of 30-8. However, Richland had the ball inside the Lion 10 yard line three times and came away with no points(30-8 score very misleading). Both coaching staffs have done an excellent job this year and will have their respective teams ready. However, I must go with the Lions because they are at home. Good luck to both squads.
  3. I do not believe anyone was 'trashing' the announcer. However, it is against TSSAA rules to have an announcer talking over the loudspeaker while the play is still going on. In addition, the music must be turned off before the play starts as well. I am sure that the announcer did not know this, but someone needs to tell him.
  4. Montgomery Central is a quality team. Losing a major cog in the offense always takes some adjusting to. Problems are bound to occur and must be worked. Don' t look for Central to lay down Friday night. Should be a good game to see.
  5. Region 6-2A is wide open guys. I think that Camden has to be considered the favorite until someone proves otherwise. The rest of the region has to get busy winning games. It is conceivable that the fourth place team in this region will still need to go at least 5-3 in region play to get into the playoffs. Makes for some exciting football this fall. Good luck to all.
  6. Don't be too quick to count out Mont Central. They have played some tough teams and look to be up for this one. I believe it is homecoming for them. They have alot of weapons. I do believe you have gone over the edge, Catfish. Are you mellowing in your latter years???
  7. We can talk back and forth all we want to without changing the outcome. Even if the Waverly team had an illegal formation, it is not a "correctable error" as defined by the Football Rulebook. The point being, after the play is over, it cannot, excuse me, it legally, by the rulebook, cannot be overturned. There was never a flag thrown and nobody saw it. The Adamsville coach could not have seen it either being that the player in question was, indeed, on the line of scrimmage. He, however, was in a two point stance and not a three point stance, maybe providing the look of being of off the line. Still, the coaches' angles and camera angles would not be very reliable. The two line judges never saw, or most importantly, called it . Right or wrong, the play cannot be overturned, period. Besides, nothing's going to change. Game over. Bad calls for both teams. Referees are human, too. Besides, those referees did not miss tackles, fumble the ball, miss blocks or make bad decisions on offense or defense. Don't make excuses on why you lose. Move on to next week. This one is over.
  8. Gosh, dwolford. You and lessermarty got rooked tonight, huh? I am sure the referees decided to stick it to you as best as they knew how. However, it is quite embarassing for you two to cry and moan over getting beat. Unfortunately, it happens to everyone at some point in your life. Oh, by the way, you speak of the camera angles. Just where were they? Did Waverly have 'cherry pickers'set up in the endzone so that both teams could get the perfect angles with the cameras? Just wondering. Good luck next week.
  9. Swamptiger, you can be objective in your posts. But in the process of being objective, you always seem to find a way to be negative towards your beloved school. Are you jealous or something? Obviously, you are no coach of any kind, and probably always got picked last on the playground. Maybe you got cut from the team or something. Whatever your excuse, take a minute to look at some facts before you start spouting off at the mouth. First, Bolivar is the reigning AA state champion and loves to get the running game going. Their coach has both the boys' and girls' team in the state tournament this year. Do you honestly think that they (the team) and he (coach) would just 'go through the motions'? I am sure that it is quite possible to overlook an opponent at first, but not after you have outscored them by eleven in the first quarter and they still don't fold. I don't believe that the coach would sit by and watch his team play this way. Second, I am sure that it never crossed your mind that Waverly might have been intentionally trying to slow things down so that Bolivar couldn't get running up and down the floor. That is called gameplanning, idiot, not being intimidated. Besides, what did they have to lose? I dare say that everyone in the building figured the cheerleading squad would be in the game for Bolivar by halftime. A third problem here is being disappointed with the crowd. Do you think that because the lead was a whopping 12 points at halftime that the crowd would quiet itself. If anything, they should be going nuts looking for all of the high flying acrobatics Bolivar brings to the game because hey, Bolivar is up by 12. Confident, probably, but not quiet. That is just plain stupid. Maybe the crowd might have been just a bit uncomfortable with only a 12 point lead. Not worried, uncomfortable. Bolivar is a tremendously talented team, and well coached. The fans and the atmosphere are great for high school basketball. This is not a post that is aimed at being negative towards the Bolivar team. They were the better team and deserved to move on. However, swamptiger, you talk in a negative manner about the Waverly squad and their efforts. You make up excuses as to why Waverly was even in the game. Couldn't have been because of the gameplan(you do know what that is don't you?!) and the players' execution of it. Nooooo, Bolivar just had a bad night, going through the motions, bellyache, in-grown toenail, etc. Maybe, but maybe Waverly had a good game plan. Well, suffice it to say, you are no fan at all. Seems like you have an axe to grind with the team. Applaud the team for its efforts without offering your opinion on how the team was 'playing not to get blown out' (that dunk attempt was pretty timid wasn't it?) That is quite offensive to any kind of competitor. I hope that people do not know who you are with you making statements like that. I am embarassed for you.
  10. I wish that you wouldn't be so intimidated by someone that is more intelligent than you. No need to try and sound smart here. It is what it is. There is no reason for you to worry about what I am posting. Read it, skip over it and/or move on. Most people fear what they do not, or cannot, understand. Obviously, you are one of those people. Let it go, okiedoke? thumb
  11. Dear Tiger14, Please refrain from using the words 'student of the game' when referring to yourself. I know the pedigree is the there, but, unfortunately, the apple has fallen way too far from the tree (see Wooden, Smith, Pitino, Knight and K). I am glad to see, however, that you have removed all ridiculous posts from this site. The only sad part is that some live on in replys from myself and others. Hopefully, you have decided to start that ten step program that will help you reenter the real world with the rest of us and allow you to be objective in your posts. Good luck with the treatments and I hope that you will be able to exit that path of destruction that I was talking about. Good luck! thumb thumb thumb
  12. I appreciate the info there. Nice to read something worthwhile. Seems like this NS team really is talented. Looking forward to seeing them at the state tournament. thumb
  13. Obviously, I feel that I am losing my mind reading what you write. I need to step back and step off of this dangerous path of destruction that you are on. Please write about basketball information and stick to reporting it in an appropriate manner. We know by now, that John Wooden is your grandfather and Dean Smith is your godfather. You and Bobby Knight correspond regularly and Rick Pitino calls you one of his greatest friends. Coach K (can't spell it) must never get tired of you explaining the ins and outs of basketball to him. You have given way to much to the game of basketball and all of the readers out there. We are forever in debt to your genius. I will never read another of your replys. They make me want to throw up. Maybe a ride on the Waaahhhmbulance would heal you of your ills. For the sake of the viewers out there, I think that I can speak for them when I say that I hope your son is a senior or he transfers to another school next year. Seek help, my friend. I wasn't joking about the counseling or meeting with a preacher.
  14. Tiger14, you are killing me. I find myself looking through this website and seeing your name on different subjects, with the same statements. Hate is like a cancer that will eat you up inside. Tell me, is your son really that good or do you have an over-inflated opinion of his abilities? Let it go, friend. For your sake and your son's. I am sure if he was an all-star, the coach would play him more because every coach wants to win, regardless of who gets to play. Obviously, the team is doing well with the rotation they have. Maybe you should change professions and get into the coaching ranks and divulge some of your mastermind schemes to young players. I am sure that your knowledge of the game and playing experience far exceed that of the coach. Approach him and tell him of your thoughts. I am sure he would appreciate them. What is the worst thing that he could do? Bench your son. No, obviously, he is already there. Seek help, my friend. thumb
  15. It's early in the season. Who are the tough teams that these schools have played against and defeated? Haven't seen their schedules. thumb
  16. What is up with the Summertown team? I thought that they returned a good nucleus of players from last years team. Have they had injuries, tough schedule, bad luck, what? Haven't been able to follow them closely. Just curious. thumb
  17. Well, well, well. It seems that we have run into the bitter parent again. I read this article only an hour and a half ago and I now know what your child's name is. Please use better judgement when posting on this site and others so that you don't have to come back and edit it when it looks like you might get found out. I can only hope that your son does not know what you are saying because I am sure he would be completely embarassed. I am also sure that he knows that you are his #1 fan. I wouldn't know you if you walked into my house today but I sure have learned alot about your character in just a few posts. Counseling or seeking counsel from a good pastor might help you with your issues. Besides, this thread is about a basketball game. Jackson Northside is a very talented team, I hear. Besides the Delk twins, has any of the other boys signed college scholarships? I would like to see this circus show come to town. Keep me updated tomorrow night and tell me how it goes. thumb
  18. Seems to me someone is alittle bitter, here. I believe that seven players saw court action for the W team last night. I am not sure about playing uninspired, but they seemed to play with a great deal of heart considering that they were down by 13 or 15 at one point. Seems like to me that they have folded in the past to this CC team and that was not going to happen the other. Props to the uninspired team who overcame a mental hurdle(5 or 6 straight losses) and a scoring deficit that was in double digits. Obviously, my friend, you have a son on the bench or you have a beef with this coach. Hate will eat you up inside. Maybe you might want to go speak with this coach man to man and not hate on the internet. Good luck to both CC and W. thumb
  19. I believe that you are a little confused on how the block call went down, my friend. If you could go back and see it again, with unbiased eyes like my own, you would have seen that the call was on the baseline coming to the player throwing the ball inbounds. The play seemed to be designed to go to that very player. The referee made the correct call from approximately three feet away being that the CC player stepped out of bounds to get to the W player. Also, again using unbiased eyes, the travelling call on Smith was indeed horrible. The W players had hands in the air, did not attempt to block his shot, and he either panicked or lost the ball and it just bounced. Nobody pulled him down. If anything, it cost W precious seconds on the clock and allowed CC to reset their defense. The charge was indeed a good acting job by the CC player. Bad mechanics by the referee who called it from 75 feet away, the other two were calling nothing. Gutsy move by the CC player. Great game to watch, well worth the money paid. Love to see the rematch at Waverly(with an unbiased opinion, of course). Maybe both teams will bring their "A" games and we will see who is truly the better team. Good luck to both squads. thumb
