Waverly played Jackson Northside two times this year and they got beat by 17 and 27 respectively. To me, that is not the way to earn respect. Who in District 10AA has been to the Boro and brought a Gold Ball home??? Fact of the matter is...you have no teams in District 10AA that can earn respect where as Giles County will waltz into Franklin and take your respect as well as your pride, leaving you feeling as naked as the day you were regretfully brought into this world to grace us with your stupidity.

Catfish...why don't you pick a side and stay with it. On every other thread after the 2nd Giles County vs. Brentwood game you were polishing the hardware under Tyler Smiths jock strap. You couldn't say enough about him and this Giles County team. You said that no one will challenge them until sub-state...now you are on here talking about how awesome Waverly is. Make up your mind already.

Does anyone in the Region tourney really want to play Giles County. I feel bad for the winner of the Harpeth vs. Page game tomorrow night, especially if it is Page. Holt still has his starters in the game...unbelievable. I am a Giles County fan, but that is uncalled for. Cheatham County couldn't come back if you spotted them 20 points. This is just asking to get someone hurt. Yeah, we must be listening to two different games. I know what the commentators are saying on the Pulaski radio station. I think one of the fouls was referred to as the Goldberg spear.

Oh my, Giles County is up 48 to 17 in the 3rd quarter. Giles County is on a 22-0 run in the 3rd. They will not be denied tonight. They came out flat, but whatever Holt said at half-time got dem boys fired up. Cheatham County has gotten 2 intentional fouls called on them in the 3rd quarter. I guess they don't like getting dunked on. However, trying to take a player out of the game because you can't stop them is totally uncalled for.

Waverly has not played Giles County this year. The Region championship will be the first time.

As big time players do in big time games, Tyler Smith will step up. I look for him to score 30+. Cheatham County will hang around for a quarter and a half, then Giles County dominates. The starters will be out by the end of the 3rd quarter and Giles will cruise to another win. I do not think Noel Smith getting hot will be enough to stay within 20 pts. of Giles County.

What is laughable is your post. Where in my post was Tyler Smith's name mentioned and where did I mention a dunk? You need to check yourself before you get on here talking all stupid. Devendorf is overrated. Who couldn't make wide open outside shots. Devendorf is not a standout player on that team. Jamont Gordon and the big kid that plays down low are the standouts.

Honestly, the only reason that Ellis is not on the East team is because everyone wants to see him and Louis Williams go head to head again. Don't get me wrong...this will be fun to watch, but that is the hidden agenda.

Actually the Jordan Roundball Classic features teams from different countries, so it really can't be classified as an American High School All-Star game. I read this in the Atlanta Journal Constitution a few days ago. Williams is also playing in the Jordan game.

Yeah...I did see the rosters on the McDonald's website and there are no TN players. When I watched South Gwinnett and Oak Hill play, the Devendorf kid was getting lit up by everyone on the South Gwinnett team. He did not impress me at all. What is even more ridiculous is that Louis Williams sidekick Mike Mercer was not on the list. The kid is ranked in the Top 20 but he could not make the team because Williams was on it. If I recall, Rondo and Josh Smith were on the McDonalds team last year. Didn't they play for the same team??? Also, why is Monta Ellis playing on the West squad. Last time I checked MS was not in the west. I guess politics figured into this...Williams vs. Ellis rd. 2.

I have a clue and let me tell you one thing. I attended Giles County High for 4 years and I followed the basketball program very closely after that. I can't remember another team besides Marshall County ever going to a sub-state game. Loretto came close a couple of years, but that is it. Giles County will continue to dominate this district in the years to come. I hear they have some outstanding freshman ready to play next year. There were great teams well before Tyler Smith and there will be great teams after him. You need to get a clue and be grateful that Giles County doesn't score 100 pts. every night they step on the court. As far as Holt rubbing some teams the wrong way...who cares. You have to give your starters playing time. You can't sit them down when you get a 25 pt. lead in the 2nd quarter. Also...what are these upset teams going to do about it...they couldn't beat Giles County if their lives depended on it. I will spout my mouth off all I want...you are just like all of those teams....upset and can't do anything about it.

How pathetic is this district? Giles County beat Loretto by 35 pts. last night. Loretto managed to score an amazing 41 pts.; however, 1 player scored 26 pts. for them. The next highest scorer on that team had a whopping 4 pts. Tyler Smith score 29, Coffey scored 17, & Derron Garrett and Corey Perry scored 8 for Giles County. I love Giles County basketball, but outside of Smith and Coffey, who else do they have? No one is the answer!!! Zach Holt might get hot once in a blue moon. You might have a player other than Smith and Coffey step up and score in double figures on occassion. Honestly, I believe that District 9AA is the worst district in TN...hands down. Loretto got beat 105 to 66 by a 1A team...how pitiful is that. TSSAA should realign in order to make this district more competitive. The only thing is...outside of Giles County there isn't a school in the area that is competitive year in and year out. Everyone is fighting for 2nd place behing Giles County and it gets boring after a while. What happened to Marshall County...they used to be one of the best teams in the mid-state; however, they are lucky if they have enough guys to man a full squad come game time. I am done ranting and raving...

What a wonderful way to end his high school career. Scoring 26.5 pts. per game, being nominated for McDonald's All American game, being nominated for Mr. Baskeball for the 3rd time...the only way this could get better is if plays in the McDonald's game...wins Mr. Basketball...takes his team to the BORO...and brings the Gold Ball home. Either way, this young man could not ask for anymore. For one night in March, he brought everyone in a county and city together to celebrate the first State Championship ever for the Giles County Boys Basketball team. Congrats Tyler and the rest of his teammates that have played such an influential role in the success of this program. Good luck at UT next year.

That was uncalled for...funny but uncalled for. Smith will probably see big minutes during his freshman season. I look for him to be a Corey Brewer type freshman. He can come into a program and instantly make an impact. Question is...will Buzz let him make a difference. This guy couldn't coach the NBA All-Stars, much less college kids who need some help developing into those NBA stars. Key factor for Tennessee basketball is coaching. You can have all of the talent in the world, but if the coaching staff is slacking or lacking...then the team will suffer.

Thanks for the follow up JD. Didn't Lee Humphrey graduate the same year as Bradshaw? Humphrey is adding value to his team, while Bradshaw couldn't grab his butt with both hands and someone helping him. The kid is PITIFUL. I guess that is the reason we can never expect Vol basketball to be competitive because they listen to the same people that we do when they are recruiting...Bradshaw is a perfect example.

PPG 26.4 (leading Mid-State...ahead of some very good players...Brandan Wright for one) 3pm 29 (averaging 1.9 per game.) not bad for a 6'6 small forward Nominated for Mr. Basketball for the 3rd time No info on rebounds or assist...I will keep checking or if someone else would be so kind as to post them.

Yeah...their slacking off began when they first stepped on the court this year... The District tourney is simply a race for 2nd. Giles will not be tested during this tournament, which is a sad thing. They need another good dose of competition before they get to region and sub-state. I guess to hear Page fans tell it, they will be good competition for Giles County since they have almost beaten us the last two times they met...a 16 pt. margin of victory & a 40 pt. margin of victory. Hey, the 3rd time could be the charm???LOL

OOOH....OOOOH...Just like he did against Fairley when his team lost. That is a great way to head into the post season. You talk about J.P. being the best player in the state, but you have nothing to back it up. Don't say because Unapproved Website says so. Those rankings have not been updated in who knows how long. Is he leading Memphis Area teams in scoring...Tyler Smith is leading the mid-state (26.4 ppg). Has he went head to head with the best junior two times this year and proved both times that he is the best of the senior class? Has he been nominated for Mr. Basketball for 3 straight years? Give us reasons why he should be the best senior in TN. Please dont say that he's gotten 3 Gold Balls. We are talking about individual accolades...we all know that J.P. played on the best team in TN for 3 years.

Smith is classified as a small forward and should have no problem being a backup in that position on the McDonald's team due to all of the hype (all earned) that surrounds him at his position. Prince however is going up against...Louis Williams, Jamont Gordon, Mike Mercer, Monta Ellis, etc... To me, Prince has the least chance of making this team, but I could be wrong.

I can't find any info if the teams have been selected. I know that Tyler was a member of the Top 40 nominees. Unless they are keeping this on the down low for a day or so, I don't believe the teams have been picked.

Yeah, he was Franklin for 3 or 4 years and he carried them deep into the tournaments every year. It looks like it might not be long before Giles County is getting hated on in another forum because their football team is running rampant over the district and region.
