  2. the cut block is legal inside of the nuetral zone. As a spectator you may not like to see it but if it's legal its not dirty. Sounds like just good coaching to me. Sounds like we need these guys at Bearden. Good luck Waves and congatts on a great season.

Once again your class and character amaze me. I hope your right and you determine the direction of your team. One thing you might try is at the team dinner tonight is you and some of the other team leaders sit everyone down. Run the parents out and you guys talk to the team about whats goin on, keep it positive and remind them there are 2 games left. (a lot of ball to still play) going out with 2 good games. win or lose will set the presedent for next year. Yes it is to late for this years seniors and i do truly feel bad for them BUT explain to them that they have a chance to pave a foudation for the future years. Let everyone know that yes there maybe some coaching issues and changes may be coming but the thing to do right now is everyone give there all and let the other problems get handled through the outlets that need to handle them. You let them know that you guys have to handle the business at hand and have faith that everything else will work itself out. I have faith in you and about 70 something other kids on the team. continue to handle your self with class and character and try to spread it to everyone else on the team. good luck tomorrow night ill be there cheering for ya.
  4. you guys will see friday night. needless to say your gona be shocked!
  5. your right but still got to have some faith somewhere. upsets occure every week.

In response to Bearden Sevier predictions. You are somewhat right. However the most obvious thing is that you have a coach who is seriously scared for his job. Now for you BHS. you are a talented player. You are the leader of this team and i must say that weather you like that fact or not you are. Right now the best thing you can do is Try to be the best POSITIVE roll model you can. This new thing going on (not to tip any Sevier Co fans or players off) Fills a void where we have been lacking all year. I personally believe it will be a 100% improvement. The opportunity lies here to Make a big impact quickly and reallly turn some heads. I encourage you Make the best of this opportunity. As far as the politicing. That has been going on for several weeks. How many freshman were allowed to dress might as well play last year untill the last game of the season. True there might have been only 1 maybe 2 who could have had any success on the varsity but those 1 or 2 should have traveled some. Lewis is prime example of this. But you look at the Only freshman who has started in any compasaty this year. What is his name #22. Couldnt be Maynard is it. I know people on this team feel betrayed and hung out. But what some of those older players are feeling has been goin along all season. Just now its affecting them. Keep this in the back of your head. Play for your self and ALSO play for the TEAM. Take comfort in knowing this there are some things going on behind the scenes that will hopefully put an end to this madness, and should make many of you Juniors happy. I only hope that it works out for next year. In the mean time keep your head up. you guys have many things to be proud of even though some of them are small and meanningless to you right now, in the future they will pay big dividends. Also continue to be a leader but be a positive one. one last thought. "Show me a good loser and ill show you a loser" im not positive exactly who said that but its a great quote and it completely applies to this team. I dont see good losers out there so you must be winners somewhere.
  7. Bhs refer to the bearden ?what can be done post for your reply. Pickle and Rogers will run wild this game. Dogs 45 bears 36

CC you make some good points. However the biggest difference is that your school has just come from the cellar to the top. Yes it took 30 years and everyone on here knows its hard to do. Bearden however has not necessarly been a power house but has been traditionally competative. Over the last 3 years we have watched this dramatic decline. Nothing against the players cause they do play hard but last week against SD we looked like it was our first game of the year. From the stands we appeared to be unprepared, i didnt say not playing hard cause we did play hard but unprepared. As parents and fans we feel that the talent on this team is not that much different from most of the teams of the past, therefore that is why it is hard to watch our team go from competitive to where you guys have been the last 29 years. Our other fear is that if things dont change fast it may take us 10-15 years to get competitave again. Congrats on your season and good luck. At Bearden we are striving to get back to where you guys now are.
  10. If the guy is running away from the line of scrimage everyother player is set and no whistle is blown how is it any different from any motion play. the only difference is that the player running off the field says something. Doesnt the qb say something most everyplay? The only thing that im aware of not allowed to be said on the field (besides cursing) Is a defenseive player immitating the snap count.

thanks for the clarification. I was explained the rule wrong.
  12. I unfortunately have never seen a free kick myself. Was told that Ditka with the Bears in the 80's used it once in the NFL. But like many of you guys i wonder how many coaches know of this rule. Seems like it could come in handy atleast 1 once every couple of years. Did see a wrong tee once. Team lined up for about a 40 yard fieldgoal. Holder jumped up and started yelling that he had the kickoff tee and turned to run towards the bench to get another (backward from LOS) about half of the other team actually took a knee and unsnaped their helments. The snapper snapped the ball to the kicker who then threw it to the holder. Went for a 40 yard TD. Was the craziest thing I ever saw.
  13. There all kinds of quirky rules in football. Have you ever seen something and wondered "what in the world?" Example: Free Kick. = Team receiving a punt , unon a fair catch can request to the officials a free kick. At this point they bring out the kickoff team to the point of the catch place the football on the kickoff tee and kick it through the uprights. If good reuslts in 3 points. This play would be used late in a half or game when you have an opponent backed up deep in their territory and are down by 3 or less. Or really any time you want to use it i guess... If anyone knows of any rules that are never done such as this one chime in. Who knows maybe you just might see one by the end of this season.

    S-D WINS!

Cut the new staff a break. Swafford back tonight? Swafford wasnt that great. Get behind this new staff and in 20 years you may be saying " it was almost like Hutchins was back tonight"
  16. Hate to say it but, I feel the falcons may have to much for the jackets. Should be a good game to watch though. Fulton 21 kingston 14
  17. Saw 3 teams in Georgia do it once for 4th place in region. However the OT in Georgia is different. Personally i like it better. Team 1 starts on their own 20 and drives untill stoped or scores. Team 2 starts on their own 20 and drives untill stoped or scores. team that penatrates furthest down field wins unless both teams score. if both teams score play it again (very seldom happens)
  18. Think the Kee's got a boost of confidence last week. Will be a tough one but if they come out and play the whole game like they did the second half of the Bearden game they can win.

I have to agree with bulldg75, Quitting is one thing that will haunt you the rest of your life. there are otherways to handle things. I know that the spirit is down among the players. I hear it everyday when i pick up my son. His #1 question to me almost everyday is " why should i stick around when i wont play untill im a senior and maybe then only on jv?" My response is this. Football is much like life. There are ups and downs. Sometimes no matter how hard you try you cant win. weather its cause someone is setting you up to fail or your just out tallented. Quitting never solved anything in life. In fact it is hard to do the first time but each time afterward it comes a little easier. I played on a team in highschool that won a total of 7 games in 4 years. I know its not easy and you hear crap from every direction. IT TAKES MORE CHARACTER TO STAY AND PERSERVERE and it will be something that you can build on the rest of your life. You guys have one job to do and that is to prepare the best that you can and play your hardest. Be a true leader like I think you are and try to rally the troops. But dont also be selfcentered. There are about 60+ other guys that are going to follow your lead. I also encourage you to encourage your younger players. Those are the guys that are going to help you next year. At this point those are the ones who you are going to lose in the off season. Many of these kids have busted their hump just as hard as you have this season maybe not in a game but at practice and camp. Many of them have never seen the field in a varsity game this year despite many opportunities to have done so. Many of these same kids havent played more than 10 or 20 plays on the JV games. Some of these kids are going to be the studs on the team in 2 years or even next year. yet many of these are fixin to leave and many wont be missed. Some of you older guys need to remember to encourage them. They dont get it anywhere else afterall.. You keep your head up and tell the rest of the guys to do the same. Let the Parents worry about what will happen next year and about any changes to be made. Trust me many of us are just as unhappy as you are with what is going on.
  20. Got to agree with you on this one. GO CC
  21. i guess oakridge also and DB also recruit I guess Campbell Co. went out and recruited alot of kids this year to. get real. Just because a team has a sucessful program dont mean they recruit.

Your right possum, last time Wess Vols cut us off. therefore this time everyone try not to Degrade anyone by name and maybe this post will atleast let some parents vent their thoughts and views. We sure cant do it with the "people close to the program" for fear of our sons not getting on the field again.

You are a well spoken kid, and like i said earlier in the post you show a lot of class and heart. I also agree that you guys need a break after the season. But the previous poster had a good point. Many teams around here not only lift weights like you guys do in the off season, but continue to lift 3-4 days a week during the season. That may be a small thing but when those teams do that and are starting to max out in a few weeks they are at their prime strength where as you guys, who for the majority, have not lifted a weight since before camp are at your weakest. That along with several small things that go on during the week have lead to what the previous poster said. "lack of disipline" As a player when you give all you can on the field nothing else can be asked of you on friday night. As a coaching staff when you dont prepare the players on monday - thursday you are not giving them a chance to be sucessfull on friday, no matter how hard they play. Letting players just go through the motions is not preparing them. there is a quote "practice makes perfect." however that is not correc t. " prerfect practice makes perfect" there is an exrteme lack of working towards perfection from this staff and to much of going through the motions. Also when coaches tell players one thing and then dont do what they say they will do it hurts the moral of the team. I know you BHS are a starter but their are about 50 other kids on this team who are not starters. Many of these kids have been told different things this year, about playing time or what have you, which for what ever reason have not been done. The 15-18 of you who get all of the playing time (nothing against you) are only as good as the guys backing you up. If those guys dont get any reps in practice or just going throught the motion reps can they make you better on scout team? Also if their moral stinks because of broken promises believe it or not but that will spread to the rest of the team. Also when you have coaches who go against TSSAA rules on something simple as the 6 quarter rule. (a player can only play in 6 quarters a week Freshman games through Varsity) you have to wonder about the integritiy of everything else in the program. Their are many solid players and players with high character on this team who leave everything on the field every game. It is for this reason that us parents want better for you guys. For us that stand on the hill everyday we realize that you guys are not getting the what you deserve. For these reasons Someone has to question what is going on here.

I agree with you. Thats why i mentioned Pickle. Trust me as a parent of a player I want nothing but positive for this team. However, when indifference is all you meet from the "people closer to the program" you have to go somewhere. If you would like WesVols give me an email and ill explain myself better to you with out going on here.

I agree with everything you said about Pickle from every game and practice ive watched he seems to be a 110% type player. Along with several other of the Bulldog players. I also agree that Bearden had a tough night tonight. Unfortunately there has been many of them lately. Something seams to be lacking with this program. Ill be the first to say that we dont have the talent of a 10-0 team. But I do believe that we are atleast are at the talent level to be 500. You watch all the games WesVols, and are familair with the program. Where are we lacking right now? We were 3-7 last year but were in every game that we lost. Different story this year. Sure is frustrating to many of us parents. One of the problems I personally feel is that our players are just worn down by the second half. We play some where in the neighborhood of 15 to 17 kids all game long with very, very, few subs. There are another 50 or so on the side lines is there not any one else on the sidelines who can come in and play? With that many kids why did we even have to play Pickle at LB tonight? I dont have any answers and im not even sure if i know all the questions. But I do know that we are not a 1-7 type of team and that these kids work to hard and deserve better than this record. If you know something i dont help me to understand, cause id sure like to.
