  1. Got to dig a little, folks. That story is six weeks old. Thanks for looking around the website, though. Visit anytime. You can find it here. http://dalehollowhorizon.com/2009/06/ma ... ball-team/
  2. The school central office announced the new Clay County High football coach late this morning. Get the details at www.dalehollowhorizon.com
  3. Interviews with five or six applicants will be held Monday. May not take long after that. See details on www.dalehollowhorizon.com
  4. That's right. Get more details at www.dalehollowhorizon.com

  6. He is a good one, for sure. Got the Herald-Citizen All-Upper Cumberland co-defensive player of the year, and we had six others (all seniors) on that team, too. Not for sure how many starters will be back. The Dawgs are losing a fine group of seniors, but there will be several key players returning, including two of the top three rushers. Brown will be back in the backfield, as will a freshman who ran for over 500 yards.
  7. Thanks for replying. I am hoping since we are in a region, or "super district" or whatever they are gonna call it, that we get two automatic participants per classification. Don't know that, though. Just wishful thinking. Just when you think you've got something figured out, it gets changed.
  8. Somebody help us out with the next year scenario. Will there be four playoff qualifiers--two for 2A and two for 1A?? Is that the way everybody understands it, or will it be something else? I've not heard a final word on this, and would be grateful if somebody else could explain exactly how it will be.
  9. Thanks for the info. Doesn't look like the weather will cooperate today, but maybe tomorrow.
  10. Are both teams still unbeaten in the tourney?
  11. Thanks. It would be only fitting if these two get to play one more time.
  12. Non-region games are Taft Youth Center (home opener, week 0), and road games at Jackson County and King's Academy.
  13. I agree wholeheartedly. I don't know which region is the best "top to bottom," but it doesn't matter. Only four go to the playoffs, and I just don't believe there is a region with three better than Region 4.
  14. The more things change, the more they stay the same. As for the top team, I'm going with Gordonsville, but it will be a tremendous battle between them and FCS. Trousdale will be strong as always. I still say this is the top region in the state, in terms of having three teams who can contend for the state title year-in and year-out. It may not be the best from top to bottom, but how many regions are strong in that respect? Look at your first-round playoff scores. You have an occasional upset, but to have three teams capable of going all the way speaks for itself, I believe.
  15. Wardawg, I appreciate your last comments on the new coach for CCHS, but I gotta disagree with you on one point: strength of this 1A region. You failed to mention Gordonsville, and when you put FCS (last year's runnerup) and Trousdale (champ season before last) in the mix, I believe it is easily argued this is now the best region in the state in 1A. The three teams we just mentioned will easily be in the top 10 this season statewide, and I think not a stretch at all to say one of them will at least make it to the state finals and possibly win it all. Check out the post-season results over the past two years (since Trousdale rejoined the region) and you can see why I have this opinion. When Trousdale won it all season before last, Gordonsville and FCS were the only teams to really play them close at any point during the regular season or playoffs. As recently as three years ago, I would have agreed with you about the region not being so tough, but times have definitely changed. Again, thanks for the comments for our new coach. I had the opportunity to meet him this week, and he really seems excited about coaching the Dawgs.
  16. One thing you have to remember about classification: there is no particular number that makes you 1A, 2A, etc. The TSSAA divides the teams into fifths (in football) as equally as it can. The 20 percent with the lowest enrollments are 1A, the next 20 percent is 2A, and so on. Enrollments can increase for any school and not necessarily move it into the next highest classification. If you look at the current numbers, you will see the classes basically have 60 teams each in them--some a few more, some a few less. Just because a school passes a certain number in enrollment does not mean it will be in a higher classification the next time around. If everyone is basically increasing in enrollment, the scale will just slide upward with it, the way I understand it.
  17. They look pretty good to me. I know one thing: you give Thompson a little bit of a lane, and he's gonna take it all the way.
  18. Region 4. Since Trousdale came back in, we now have one better than average team that doesn't even get in the playoffs every year. I will admit to being partial (since it's the only region I get to see--for more than one reason), but I believe the numbers will speak for themselves. They did last year, and I believe they will again. All in all, most teams play a pretty strong non-region schedule, too, especially Trousdale. This year, they play two 3A teams and one 2A (Smith Co.); Friendship played the defending DII A state champ, along with Collinwood and 2A Ezell-Harding; Gordonsville played Smith County, Westmoreland, and Upperman; Clay played three 2A schools; Watertown played a 3A school and Midway; Monterey played Harriman and two 2A schools; etc. Hope I got all that right. Pretty tough schedules I'd say, all in all.
  19. What are his numbers like this year? I know he got off to an unreal start.
  20. Won't be that much. Wish I could see this one and the FCS-Trousdale game. Will probably get to see some combination of it in the playoffs, though. Good luck to all.
  21. Friendship and South Pitt are front-runners. Don't count out Trousdale just yet. They are a much different team than four or five weeks ago.
  22. Clay County wins this dog fight, 36-6. Final.
  23. And most folks don't realize how much $$$$$ it takes to run a football program. Costs are off the charts compared to other sports. Gate receipts are a huge part of any program. Post-season success also helps the bottom line in more ways than one. As for Trousdale winning another title, not much doubt about that. I look for the state champ to come from Region 4-1A several times in the next few years.
