Actually mrdrano Greeneville played AAAA in football when there was 5 classifications. Greeneville has never been in AAA when it comes to Football.

I would say Maplewood they are 6-1 and that loss coming to private school MBA who is ranked in the top 3 in their class. Greeneville would meet them in the semi's

I hope your Joking about the 9,000 yards? His team last year went 6-6 in the smallest league in NC. I found the stats about him online. I saw him play against Greeneville 2 years ago and he was all Cocke County had. The kid might be good but he is no were close to being the best to ever put on a GHS uniform.

Carmichel kid is from NC. He had over 1,400 yards of offense last year at his old school. He use to play for Cocke County before that and was about the only player they had. He played PG for the second half of the season for Greenevilles basketball team and is the fastest guy on the track team, that includes the 2 fastest player in the Brac last year Rob Wright and Taylor Shuffler.

Greeneville will again go through the BRAC unbeaten. They have great players in Spradlin, Story, and Jamel Hall. Heard Jamel Squatted 550 lbs yesterday pretty dang good as a sophmore. They will have to make up for Quarles leaving at QB and Safety. I think Tanner Stewart will be a good fit and will have to learn in a hurry since he will only be a Soph. The only thing that worries me is the O line, WR, and DB's. If i remember right we graduated all the starting WR and DB's and lose 3 starting linemen. Who will step in beside Chaz Story at MLB since Craney graduated? They D will have to win them games early on until the O gets things turning.

You are right, we did, and we got to keep the gate money at Tech and got a cut at Bell (Bowl Game) So money IS a valid point...what is not valid, however, is all of the NE TN people that are getting this thread going. It didn't matter if it was Betsy, Greeneville or the almighty DB them selves that would have showed up for the semi's against the F5 back on Thanksgiving, all of them would have gotten hammered. Just get better. Do you really not expect to Split the Gate with Calhoun or any other team that would play you in Chattanooga? Every game i have been to both teams split the gate. People would pay to watch a game like that even if they weren't fans of Alcoa or Calhoun. All it would take is some phone calls and both teams wanting to play each other. So the whole money arguement still doesn't fly with alot of people, not just people from NE TN. I have a ton of respect for Alcoa and the Dynasty they have built, but to be the best you have to beat the best and that means scheduling the best.

No team from Tennessee was in the Juco world series last year.....your point is? Walter State has been to the world series 4 times since 2003 and won it all in 06 not to mention being ranked number 1 several time. Every year Walter State sends kids to big time baseball schools like LSU, UNC, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt and some decide to just go pro. Lee is a very good NAIA school but to compare a very good NAIA school to a very good Juco School isn't fair

You are right the senior class did win the East TN State Title when they were 8th graders. I think Quarles and Hopson are the only seniors that played on that team. The other players such as Andy McNeese and Landon Morrison excelled in other sports (football) and decided not to play basketball anymore. It happens all the time at Greeneville, athletes decide to Concentrate on 1 or 2 sports that they like better or thing they have a shot at a scholarship.

I can guarantee you that Maryville would have beat you just as bad if not worse. Greeneville scored in the 3rd Quarter with starters still in from Maryville so unless you were there please don't make yourself look like an idiot. With that being said i think it will be a great game between 2 blue color teams that play hard nose football. You don't make it to a State Championship Game and be a bad team Ok just answer this question what was the score of that Maryville vs Greenville game? 33-6.....The same score Maryville beat most teams beside their lose to Hillsboro. The point is that Greeneville learned alot from that game and knows what its like to be in a big game.

And Giles County got put out by David Lipscomb in the Quarter Finals who didn't even make it to the championship game! lol.....The point is Greeneville has played in Big games before and Giles County hasn't yet. We had a Running back playing QB in the Maryville game because our QB got kicked off the team and everyone in the stadium knew we couldn't throw the ball. If you would read my first post i said that the Junior and Senior Class has played against better teams than Giles County in Maryville 08 and Sullivan South 07, never once said that they beat them. You just make it sound like Greeneville hasn't seen a team as good as Giles County when they have 2 years in a row.

WiseOldManGiles no one besides people in East Tennessee knows who Greeneville is. We hear the same thing every week form teams west of Knoxville that its going to be an easy win. Whites Creek coach said that they he didn't understand why they had to travel so far to play for a State title. I'll be at the Game Saturday and if you are Better than Maryville last year and Sullivan South the year before then you deserve the Title

Greeneville isn't flashy team. Like WiseOldMan said they are very discipline and will adjust. They are not the fastest team but they fly to the ball and will stick you and make you think about it the next time you touch the ball. Quarles the QB can both run and pass. He has thrown for more than 2,000 yards and rushed for over 500. The main RB is Spradlin who has rushed for close to 1,200 yards and missed almost half the season. There are also 3 other RB that have rushed for 400 yards. On both offense and Defense they have Veterans and Youth. They have played in big games since their freshman and sophmore year and wont give up. I don't know much about Giles County but The Junior and Senior class has played against better teams than Giles County in Maryville last year and Sullivan South the year before. It should be a good hard hitting game

I know it's been a few years but they've also seen Jason Whitten, Little Man Stewart and Todd Collins and several DI college players that didn't quite make it to Sundays, BTW I heard Gerald Riggs had a little brother I'm assumming should be playing at Red Bank? Any trith to that Lion? I think your talking about Cody Riggs but he plays for St. Thomas Aquinas out of FL and is ranked the 8th best db in the nation. If he played for Red Bank then we would be in real trouble

we are 5-5 because of 3 QT breakdowns. schedule is way better then greeneville we have played two number one teams and more than half of our schedule is in the playoffs and half of our schedule is in the top ten in the class. talk what you know. Ask any coaches or fans and they will tell you we have had every team on the rope every game. all i can say is they better strap there helmets tight and get ready for a long night. NOT A CAKE WAlK. and we were talkin playoffs not record. that doesnt mean any thing. with half of greeneville schedule opponents have a losing recorder. You make Central sound like they are all world man. Here is what i know Greeneville is ranked 6th in AA in strength of schedule while Central is 25th. Greeneville's 3 loses have came to the #1 team in 5a the #5 team in 5a and the #8 team in 3a all being close games and having chances to win in all. I don't know how you have a team on the rope when Red Bank beat you 35 to 0 and South Pitts beat you 47 to 12 ( sounds more like man handling to me). Half of Greeneville's schedule is in the play-offs also. With that being said i'm sure Central will bring in a good team to Burley friday but Greeneville has seen teams better than Central this year (TN High, Sullivan South, and Elizabethton). Coach Ballard will have this team ready to play. To the Devils seniors play every game like its your last!

They're faster Charlie..... You are right barb this year team is faster, bigger, stronger than the 07' defense. Heck our biggest guy was Stewart at 207 lbs. Even with that I still don't believe that they are better overall as a unit. What we lacked in size we made up for it with work ethic and heart. This years team is averaging giving up 15.3 points a game through the regular season while the 07' D averaged giving up 12.4 points a game against tougher teams ( I know they can't help the conference they play in). We had the bend but not break attitude about us and were always fired up no matter who made the play. I would like to see this years team have that spunk about them. With that being said i'm not trying to down this years Greeneville team because everyone knows i want them to do well and win state.

Then keep your non-biased opinion to yourself. We could actually care less what a Gville fan thinks. WG versus SG is a rivalry. It is a big deal to whomever wins it. Kind of like the way Gville acts when they beat Elizabethton every once in a while. Greeneville has beaten Elizabethton 8 out of the last 10 times they played. While WG has won 2 out of 10 times against SG. So i guess when your not use to winning you would get very excited about having a winning record since 2002 lol

Whats going to be the excuse this Friday when TN High beat you all. I never said you was scared to play anybody. I just said you are not going to beat anybody outside your conference!! You wont hear any excuses from me if TN High wins. TN High has a good football team this year and always has a good team. So i guess Greenevilles win over Jeff Co. doesn't count as a out of conference win? You try to come on here and stir stuff up but what you say holds nothing

HeavyC this is a discussion board and you are going to have fans that take stuff over the top. I'm glad to see fan support for the Devils because 3 years ago there was none. In the past 2 years Greeneville has won 21 games that sounds like a pretty good football team. You are correct that Greeneville is 2-2 but those 2 loses come to the #3 ranked 5a team and the #5 ranked 3a team. You might want to find another reason you think Greeneville moved down......Greeneville has beaten Mo West the past 2 years so why would you think we couldn't beat them? You also think we moved down because of Maryville.....you might want do some research before you get diarrhha of the mouth because if we moved up to 5a we still wouldn't have played Maryville. Greeneville has never been scared to play anybody anywhere.

Greeneville looked really good for their first scrimmage. It seems like Coach Ballard has kept the tempo up and even might have raised the tempo since McCurry left. The D will be very very good this year.....Volunteer had trouble moving the ball at all on the first D. The O also looked good scoring 6 td's on Volunteers first D. With the graduation of Barner, Hall, R. Fillers, and Greenway i thought the O wouldn't be as good but if they play like they did in the scrimmage i don't see people stopping them more like just trying to contain them. I also heard there were 95 kids on the JV and Varsity which is good to see that more more kids keep coming out each year. Looks to be another great season for the Green Devils

Tadvols.....i wasn't at the Passing league because i had work so i'm just going from what i heard. I understand why Coach Ballard played #16 Quarles the whole time.....He has never started a High school game even though he is a senior because he was always in the shadows of Greenway who is the all-time passing leader at Greeneville. It was good for himto play against great athletes that Fulton has. Its a passing League people run their mouth all the time that includes Fulton and Greeneville. It takes the bigger person to let their play show what they are about.

Glad to hear Greeneville did good.....heard they won all 5 of their games. That was the biggest question coming into this season was the passing game since they lost Greenway, Hall, and R. Fillers. Maybe we will see Fulton in the play-offs

I have to agree with bmoreman on this one......The 2009 Devils will be more like the 2007 Devils team than last years team. The D will win games early and the O will catch up 3 or 4 games into the season. The D returns alot of starters were the offence has some good weapons with R. Wright and Spradlin and will be fine as long as the line play is good. It should be a fun year expecially in the new conference with all the county teams.
