WOW..........................UNBELIEVABLE............................... THE OLD SAYING IS TRUE, OPINIONS ARE LIKE ARM PITS (OR WHATEVER), EVERYONE HAS THEM, AND THEY ALL STINK.......................... I guess this is like when you are married for a while........everyone thinks your wife is hot but you. I dont have a dog in this race....My kids are long gone, and I dont even live in White House....but all I hear is how good their coaching staff is. I wonder, what do fans base their opinion on when they make such statements? Practice everyday? Film? Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this #12 the coaches son, nephew, or grandson. Is he related to the principal, another teacher, what? Is there some nepotism, or favoritism that we don't know about? Do you honestly think the coaches randomly make such decisions? They obviously based this decision on something they have seen. Isnt this the same coaching staff that has won countless region championships? Isnt this the same staff that has led them to 20+ consecutive playoff appearances, including several semi finals, and a state championship? Has there been a big turnover on the coaching staff? I know Gallatin has, maybe there is something here you know, that I don't. Please tell me!!!!!!!!!!! To me, the most accurate statement in your quote would have been "I dont know why White House has chosen to pass so much", and just left it at that. Because the fact is, you dont know. Your knowledge of football probably consist of coaching some pre-adolescent pee-wee league, or worse yet, listening to analysis of football on TV, where players are recruited or drafted. Im sure standing around the water cooler at work, everyone thinks you know a lot about coaching football, because of the jacket you bought your self that says coach, or the monotonus (sp?) pompous ramblings about any and every topic that is mentioned. I'm sure you are glad that coaches cant come to your work, and stand in your little cubicle, and belittle and ridicule every decision you make. My daddy taught me, "Better to keep your mouth closed, and people think you an idiot, than to open it, and remove all doubt." Too bad you arent my brother. No, on second thought, thank god you arent.

What does this mean? Only read the paper, in what way were the coaches intimidated?

My advice, if they are gonna keep a 32 team play-off format, would be to allow the top two teams in each region keep the top two seeds, then go to somekind of mathematical formula for the next 16 places. Points by class of the teams you beat, A-6 AA-9 AAA-12 AAAA-15 AAAAA-18 (for example) and then add bonus points for teams they beat in their class or bigger. Total, divide by games, done. You could then win your way in within the region, or win your way on strength of schedule. Many states use a formula something like this, and if Im not mistaken, Tennessee did at one time too. I guarantee, it would eliminate the bottom feeders, and perhaps reward the strongest regions with more than 4 play-off spots. It would also make for some great early round inter-region games. Just a thought

If your offensive coordinator scratches off plays from his call sheet each time they score, then you might..........................................................

If your man in motion just continues laterally to the sideline, to get the x-point tee, then you might be a ......................................................

If you go to the officials, and self report any penalties they might have missed on a play, then you might be a ......................................................

If your coaches trade your game film, complete with cut-ups, and a self-scout breakdown, for fuzzy polaroids of some of their plays, then you might be a..........

If your coaches in the press box invite the opponent's press box coaches to sit with them in the press box, then you might be................

If your athletic department employs a full-time medical staff, including team doctor and athletic trainer, for the visitors, then you might.............

ok, great responses and I appreciate them. However, my first initial question revolved around it being "obsolete" for lack of a better term. Saw alot of defense about teams that won with it (ie Cleveland), but my question was not could you win with it. If you win the state championship, you have horses. My question was, if it is so great, why dont the college or pros run it. I've always heard the pros dont run option because the QB takes a beating, and is too valuable to lose that way. But in the Wing T, he doesnt really. So why not run it? Speed of defenses at that level, too easily schemed and read? Somebody help me, I still dont really understand.

Thanks! I realize that alot of teams are successful with it. But Ive heard that Goodletsville ran the Single Wing into the 80's, and was successful with it. I realize that with the right talent, anything could be successful. I guess what I am saying, is that so many teams in the state run that offense, like it is magic or something. Doesn't Hillsboro run the Wing T. And they are successful. But, I guess my question isnt can you be successful with it, but doesnt it seem like a lot of teams just roll over teams all season long, then, struggle in big games? Im pretty old, but I remember playing against single wing, Straight T, the veer (the Wing T of the 70's), wishbone, etc. But everything runs in cycles, people see how to defend it, and then kinda goes out. I guess my point is great teams have success because of good talent. I dont know, maybe I should just stick to being a casual observer (ex-jock), and leave the opinions to the experts.

Just a question? Does anyone consider the Wing T an "obsolete" offense? I understand the concept of misdirection, and concealment of the football, but it seems to me that it has its greatest effect against the poorer teams, (don't know if it is coaching, talent, or a combination of both). I know Trousdale has abandoned it, and Portland is 0-3 with it versus Livingston. I guess coaches coach what they know, but if it were such a great offense, wouldn't SOMEBODY in college or Pro's run it. It seems very predictable (the guards take you to every play), and seems that you always start running laterally with your best players. Also, it seems most effective when you have two great running threats on the outside, a good fullback, a great TE, good lineman, and an exceptional talent at quarterback. Given this personnel, wouldn't any offense be pretty effective? Im no coach, but would some of those who make their living coaching offer an opinion.
