  1. These threads really get out of hand. The question was, "Can TN High be stopped?' Of course the answer, as it would be for any team in the nation, is yes. You have to remember that we are talking about 14-18 year old kids who are playing a game. In many cases just losing one of them to injury can completely change a season. Obviously, I hope that TN High can go all of the way, but just like any other team, they are not above losing. Anyone can lose a game. Even the mighty Maryville Red Rebels. Just ask any of them about the semi final game of 2003.
  2. Does anyone think that Sullivan East is for real? They have won more games this year than in the history of the school. Do they have a chance against the Vikings? I think not. thumb
  3. I am going to have to pick the Vikings THS 55 SCHS 3 thumb
  4. Going to have to go with Elizabethton in this one. They are down, but not out. thumb
  5. TN High rules regions 1-2 in the playoff bracket. Maryville has only one small speed bump on the way to the semi's in Knox Central. Who knows what happens then?
  6. Obviously, I am pulling for TN High. But other posters have a good point. As good as Elizabethton was in 98 and 99, do you remember what happened to them? Maryville beat them in 98, and Knox Central did it in 99. I hope that the Vikings can go all the way, but they have 4 more games to play in the regular season before they even get to the playoffs. And all 4 are region games. At this point it is anyone's ballgame. Remember, we are dealing with high school kids. They tend to change from one day to another.
  7. This could be the first good match up in region 1 this year. These are two solid teams. But of course I am going to have to go with the Vikings. THS - 49 SHS - 9
  8. I have to agree. East had a tough one Friday night against a Betsy team that lost 35-3 to the Vikings. Sure Elizabethton has gotten better, but so have the Vikes. All shall be seen in week 10. My bet is on the Vikings, but first we have to take care of the Rebels. One week at a time. East will get their turn!
  9. Maybe Friday night was a wake-up call for East. Sometimes when a team is not used to winning, they can let it go to their heads, and not know how to handle the success. (Look at Johnson Co.). We will see how good East is. They still have to play South and TN High, both of whom are undefeated in region play. thumb
  10. I agree, JV is nothing to discuss. Here is my question.... Why did they back out of the JV game against Tennessee High? If they are so great, you would think they would want to play.
  11. The Vikings Web site could be great, if the web master would keep it updated. My Webpage
  12. Of course I am partial to my Vikings, but their D seems to be pretty strong this year. With the starters in they have given up less than 20 points. The teams that have scored 14 against them have come late against the young guys. Defensively, they have alot of team speed, and it kills.
  13. I have seen both teams play. We scrimmaged Greeneville in August and played Elizabethton in week two. I will agree that both programs seem to be down from where they usually are. In the scrimmage with the GREEN Devils, we scored 4 times to their 0. Now I know that it is just a scrimmage, and it was before school even started, but they weren't the team they usually are. Elizabethton too seems to be very down this year. When we played them in week 2, it was a landslide at 35-3. The bad part is that we couldn't have played any worse than we did. I think we had around 150 yds in penalties in that game. It was a bad showing. So with all of that said, I feel that Greeneville has the slight edge in tonight's match up. But who knows, we will see.
  14. In Bristol, there is a good old fashion in-town rivalry between the two High schools. The TN vs. VA High game is a good one.
  15. I have to agree with many others that have posted on this thread. 1. TN High is a very talented team this year. 2. They don't really have a strong schedule. 3. It is too early to be making late season predictions 4. The Vikings are taking it one week at a time. The schedule matter can't be helped. They only have 3 games that are non-region. Those include Cherokee, Science Hill (5A), and VA High. The VA High game will never be changed since it is a cross town Bristol rivalry. As far as the other two open weeks, you have to schedule whoever you can. I am sure that getting teams to play in their open weeks is not an easy task. Most teams are probably looking for an easy win. I do think that TN High will be in the playoffs. They should be the #1 team in region 1, but I am sure that Johnson Co and Sullivan East will try to change that. It is hard to say at this point since the majority of region games are coming up. All I can say is that the Vikings are only worried about the VA High Bearcats right now. NO, it doesn't have any TN State playoff ramifications, but there are in-town bragging rights over it. Good luck to all, and I hope to see everyone in the playoffs.
  16. I sure am glad that the Central faithful have some hope for their team. Because there sure isn't any concern in Viking land. You are calling for an upset.... don't get your hopes up. We will see in a few weeks. Good luck against Unicoi.
