  1. Take it from some experience. It doesn't matter who wins the game this friday because they won't make it past thanksgiving weekend. All seasons end with Maryville. They just play ball at a different level than we are able to in upper E Tn.
  2. This should be a great one. And regardless of what anyone has to say about EHS, they always seem to peak at the right time. You can throw regular season out the window, because they know that it is win or go home. Too close to call.
  3. The Bristol Herald Courier does the same to us. They spend more time covering SW Va football than the Vikings. Someone told me it was to sell more papers to the "region". I would say that is what is happening in Kpt as well. They figure that everyone in Kpt is going to buy their paper anyway since it is the city's only paper so they try to attract readers and subscribers outside of the city to increase their sales.
  4. That is pretty much the way I see it. The only possible change would be between #2 and #3 in region 1. This friday's game will determine who wraps that up. But knowing that the game is going to be in the castle, I think that the Vikings should be able to pull it out.
  5. Don't think the Greene Devils can pull this one out. West 35 Greene 6
  6. I agree GLee. The only team worth anything in the 5 rivers is Mo. West. And judging from how they fared two weeks ago against Knox West (41-38) I don't think they will make it to the State Championship this year. Fortunately for them, they won't have to play anyone until the Semi-finals. The only team that should prove to be a roadblock for West is South. And I don't see that happening either. But the season ends with Maryville the day after Thanksgiving. And believe me, we have recent memories of how that feels.
  7. Where is everyone at? It is Tuesday, and no thread on the big battle in Bristol. Last year all I heard was how East was going to beat TN High, and this year....I haven't heard anything. Where are all of the loyal Patriot fans. If there ever was a year to take out the Vikings, this looks like it. Let's hear what everyone has to say....
  8. South will win. By how much, who knows. THS beat Elizabethton with only 1 half of football, and lost to South. Granted, I am sure that EHS has gotten better, and I don't know if THS hasn't gotten worse. But South has alot of good players, and they seemed to want it worse than the Vikings did Friday night. South 28 Betsy 6
  9. It's over, we lost, DB is better, get over it!
  10. Elizabethton can get a real confidence booster with this one. The only trouble I see is the 3 man front stopping their inside option. They ran it pretty successfully against Tennessee High. Otherwise the Cyclones should have no problems winning this week. EHS 24 UCHS 6
  11. Congratulations on your win last week. It was a long hard trip to get there, but I think you have more to come. It wouldn't have to be so hard fought if your coaching staff would change the defense, but for whatever reason they must think that this is what will give them the best results. In order to win this week the Cyclones are going to have to put up some numbers because I am sure that the Devils and Gash will. Elizabethton 28 Greeneville 24
  12. Trojanman you are foolish. THS is definitely not the team that they were last year, but to suggest that they will only win five games is rediculous. The conference is way too weak for that. The only tough games left on the schedule are South and D-B. Even if they lose both the final record will be 7-3.
  13. Elizabethton may struggle with North's size and pounding it between the tackles. That 3-5 defense has to go. EHS 20 SNHS 17
  14. We only have 3 non-region games, and they are against VA High (in-town rivalry that will always be scheduled), Science Hill, and D-B. We couldn't schedule any tougher local competition. We would have to travel to Morristown or Knoxville, and we will play the Morristown teams in the playoffs.
  15. I agree with alot of things you have to say GLee. Elizabethton is a quality team with many weapons. I do think that the second qb is better suited for your team's success than Jeffers is. I know when he came into the game against us he was a much bigger threat. As for the 3-5 defense, I don't think you all have the athletes to pull it off. You really have to have 3 great down men to get it done, and at the high school that is rare. (Thus the infrequency you see in people running a 3 man front.) I think that Elizabethton is probably one of the best teams in the state without a win. But I forsee one more loss coming up against South. They are tough this year. I think it will be a dog fight between south and us for the conference title. Good luck to you all, I am sure you can make it to the post season.
  16. I agree with you GLee. Your assessment of the cyclones and the rest of the teams in the area is right on. DB and Science Hill seem to be above the rest. In my opinion, THS is not far behind, but to this point really haven't proven it. I will admit that the south game scares me. They seem really tough, especially after playing DB 7-6. Worst of all we play South the week after DB, that doesn't help our chances. We deserve to be 4th right now, and until we beat one of the teams above us, that is where we will stay. I think we should fare pretty well with the rest of the conference, but South will be the test.
  17. Ouch! That is harsh. Maybe he is just ready for some roundball.
  18. I would normally go with Elizabethton in this one, because they are a good football team. And hopefully during their two weeks off, they have taken the time to change their defense. I am afraid that if they run that 3-5 against North they will not be able to stop the running game.
  19. I haven't seen Sevier Co. play, but I have to believe that Science Hill has more team speed. As the Vikings found out Friday night, speed kills. Science Hill by 10
  20. Like I said, the cyclones won yesterday, so they must have been better on THAT day. I make no excuses. THS lost. the end. Saying they played a bad game is not an excuse, it is a fact. I saw those boys play as 8th graders at Vance, and they looked much better than that. Last night they did not look the same. Why I don't know. Maybe it was because EHS was better? I don't know. But congratulations to the cyclones, and hopefully for you all it will spill over. But as you can understand I do not hope that it happens. Good luck to your freshmen to win it all. Since we didn't beat them, I hope no one does.
  21. I don't want to be negative about anyone, because EHS won the game, but they are not that much improved over their days at TA Dugger. THS really had a bad game.
  22. No such luck, Seth Bartee doesn't even have the guts to make a call. He said this one is too close to call. To me that means that he would like to pick "the hill" but is afraid to upset the Bristol fans. I say go with your gut Bartee and pick 'em if you like 'em. The Vikes will show up to play regardless of what you think!
  23. Elizabethton must be tough. They beat Tennessee High last night 15-12 at the Castle. Tennessee high has alot of talent, but made alot of mistakes.
