  1. They return one starter and according to some, could be starting up to 3 sophs up front. Sorry truth, but it gonna be tough.
  2. Alcoa will play Boyd Buch. in the semis in the east. In the west it will be Camden versus Goodpasture. Tyner can't beat private schools for the most part and I think Camden is being overlooked with people thinking Huntingdon is a shoe-in for the finals. My final is Alcoa (whom barring massive injuries will dominate the final game) versus Goodpasture. Bringing back memories of their earlier confrontations.
  3. Duhhhhh, it didn't say west tn. football, it said Huntingdon. And yes, i agree with turbo, it was terrance bell. He'd run circles around Larry Stewart. Best defensive player would be Reggie Gordon.
  4. Is Mckenzie having camp like Camden or are they going out two a days or what? How is Huntingdon doing it this year? I'm wanting to drive by and watch all three this week before they get in pads. thumb
  5. I need a little info on who Camden will be scrimmaging this preseason if anyone can tell me. thanks
  6. Who is camden scrimmaging this fall? Any info.
  7. Huntingdons asst. coaches are top notch. I can't believe they haven't been mentioned yet. You'd be hard pressed to find a better staff in the state at any level.
  8. Wow, I didn't realize this had happened! Thats a huge blow to a team short on lineman already. Huntingdon always likes to play quicker lineman on the d-line so I can see their thinking there plus keegan would knock your block off. On the offensive side of the ball he obviousy wasn't going to replace donald so his choices were limited there i'm sure. In Huntingdons style offense the fb is the pivot man so I disagree with you there. I really hate to hear this, he was fun to watch and really represented mustang football the way it is supposed to be played, full speed and knocking heads! What did coach mansfield say and what are mckenzies plans for keegan? I'm sure they were tickled pink to get him. But why Mckenzie of all teams?
  9. Did you guys start this week or will it be next week? If you have started, how's it going so far and will you scrimmage anyone? Are you running a five wide offense?
  10. Do not talk back to your daddy like that. I'm not talking about their making it or not making it to the playoffs. Its their non-region games that could kill them. They've got some tough competition on there, and you fellas are gonna take some serious licks. You limp into the playoffs, battered and bruised, and whammo- the smart, private school, with inferior speed beats you.
  11. I'll go out on a limb here. Neither Alcoa or Huntingdon will be in the state championship. Alcoa is primed for an early exit this year and with their schedule, they'd better have depth. When the playoffs roll around they'll get a dose of an ex 1A private school who will absolutely give them fits. Huntingdon may have the two best backs in the state ( and yes I believe they are) but there have been numerous changes taking place and no answers yet. We lost the entire off. line but one and the defense was hit and miss at best and loved to give up big plays.I'd say the odds of a repeat matchup are very iffy.
  12. tnknights, does the lack of support reflect on their football record, has that been part of the problem? How much control does Coach Swenson have over the Middle Schools? Can he make them run the high school schemes?
  13. In a school with 1200 kids as opposed to 400, i'd say they probably should have more. They probably don't have a boo or Donald but who else does? The thing thats got to be exciting for Hickman Co. is they are actually being talked about. And I would venture to say that their days of being Homecoming are fixing to end. thumb
  14. Absolutely the toughest run i've ever witnessed and I can go back to the 1970's with Huntingdon football. The week before that was even better in my opinion against milan. He took the game over in the second half and was just steamrolling through their lb'ers and db's. He'll never play Rb in college but will either be a DE or OLB.
  15. Coach is from East tn. down around Knoxville. His wife is from right here in Huntingdon, born here, raised here, cheerleader here. I know it had to be tough for her to move. Your getting a heck of a deal with her also. We think enough of them that they are getting a farewell party, no telling the number of folks who will be there. One last chance to talk them out of it. thumb
  16. Its pretty obvious i'm both a friend and a fan of your coach. I think you guys got one heck of a deal and i'm still not sure how you did it. How are the asst. coaches there?
  17. Isn't the cutoff for 2A like 675 or so? I've heard they'll be a big 2A, kinda like Camden.
  18. Are the fans and administration very supporting of football over there? Its got to be exciting times in centerville. How soon can you realistically expect a turnaround though?I'm very unfamiliar with that part of tn. Rumor is they will drop to 2A in 06 or 07, which region will they be in?
  19. You folks are fixing to see some BIIIIIIG changes. I'm coming to the first game, can't wait. Have you guys had spring yet?
  20. I predict they'll sneak up on some folks this year. Mark it down, you'll see a marked improvement in that football team this year, and in two years when they go down in classification they'll be a contender. Who is Eric's Def. coordinator going to be? How many are on his staff?
  21. Interesting. It seems from all that i've gathered that its just a verbal agreement until august and the new contracts are sighned.
  22. Hypothetically speaking, if a coach accepts a position at another school before the end of the year, like in December. Is that bound under contract by his new school or is it a verbal agreement? If not, can said coach be lured back by his former school before a new contract is sighned ? Does this ever happen or has it ever happened and under what circumstances? thanks
  23. I don't know about a tandem but i'll give you a trio: 2003 Huntingdon Mustangs-- Terrance Bell, Chris Donald, and Boo Weathers. In my mind they were the best backfield (all classifications) at the state championships that year.
  24. No doubt, Milan vs. Huntingdon. Especially the way the Mustangs have beaten them the last two years in the semifinals. Lots of bad blood here.
