CG has faced athletic qbs all year seems like. Shuffler from South Greene, Legg from Gibbs, Carmichal from Greeneville and Malone from Claiborne. They should be ready to slow Herzog down. I said slow him down, not shut him down! I'm really hoping the kids play hard especially for the 4 seniors that are on this team. They deserve to go out with a win or two. The season is winding down. This has been a year that CG would like to forget. Right now all that's left to play for is pride and a chance for these young guys to get better and more game experience. I see CG coming out on top in this one uless they have a hangover from the Claiborne game. It was a huge effort from them on Thursday. If they can prevent that from happening then they should win. Well it was a great game to watch. Claiborne jumped out 21-0. It was 21-6 at half. In the 4th cg had cut it to 27-21. Mistakes killed cg again. Fumbled punt ret and a blocked punt were back breakers. It took cg too long to get going. But they fought and showed more heart than ive seen all year. Congrats to chs. You guys played well. For cg...finish your last 2 games strong and try and get some wins...you guys deserve it.

There's been many times in this rivalry, even dating back to the old Powell Valley/Claiborne Co. High school days that the better team has gotten beat. Anything that could've went wrong has for CG this year. From losing their QB to costly freshmen/sophomore mistakes etc. I feel it's about time something go right for them for a change!!! Realistically (spelling?) CG should have one more win and maybe two more. But it hasn't worked out that way. I hope them boys go out there and play their hearts out. You are right bud, they're gonna need a couple breaks and a little lady luck. I'm hoping they get it. I'm still saying CG in a shocker!!!

CG coming off a throttling to the hands of Greeneville and Claiborne coming off a loss to West Greene. Both teams looking for a win. Claiborne has had a pretty good season so far. CG...not so much. They've lost 6 in a row since the week 1 win. This game's on tv and a chance for both teams to get some publicity. Claiborne is still playing for 2nd in the district while CG is just playing for pride right now. This game being on a thursday has given both teams a short week and not much time to lick their wounds from friday. I'm expecting a good game. You throw out the win/loss records when these two tangle. Claiborne won at CG last year. CG is looking for revenge. I'm predicting the upset. Greeneville will get CG's A game, however, that's still not going to be much. CG just isn't very good this year. They play hard and are somewhat competitive, but facts are facts and they just aren't very good this year. The effort is there, but it's just not enough. Their jimmy's and joe's just aren't what they need to be. They do have a pretty good young group of kids, and they are gaining valuable playing time so hopefully in time they will get where they need to be, but it just ain't there right now. As for this friday, I would say that G'ville could name the score. All I'm hoping for is that everyone comes out of it healthy and that CG competes and doesn't give up. If they do that, then I can walk out of there feeling ok. G'ville - 52 CG - 14 Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!

You could be right barb...but I hope you're wrong. CG has a lot to be playing for this friday. They need a district win desparately. Also, they will be playing for one of their classmates this week. A young man in the school named Nick Brummett that has lukemia and is not doing well at all. The Panthers and their fans will be honoring this young man at the game on Friday. They will be seeling t-shirts at the game from what i've been told and all of the proceeds will be going to this young man's family. In the true perspective of things, it is only a game in the end...this young man is fighting for his life. I hope that all of you will keep Nick in your hearts and in your prayers. CG is struggling mightily. It seems that they are having a hard time on both sides of the ball. Their youth and inexperience isn't aiding in this matter at all. Hopefully they can get it together soon. C-D is seemingly doing pretty well this year...probably the best that they have in a long time. CG is facing a lot of personnel problems. Hopefully getting to play at home will help them this week. If CG can get a few stops and control the clock then I give them a shot...if not then C-D could run away with them. Well here we are at week 5. The Panthers have struggled a lot this year so far. A couple of games they couldve won and didnt. Their youth has just been too much to overcome the obstacles they have faced. This week they play the #4 team in the state in 4a. That doesn't bode well fo my panthers. I feel that Gibbs will be just too much for CG. Gibbs has a very good team from what I have read and based on the game last year. Hopefully CG can manage the clock and maybe help keep the score down to give them a chance, but in the end, the Eagles will be just too much for them. Too much skill and depth. But, CG, keep your heads up. Brighter days are coming for you guys. hang in there and keep getting better. It will only help you in the long run. Don't listen to all the crap about what some "fans" are saying about your coaching staff and you all either...just hang in there. CG - 14 Gibbs - 35 Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my two cents...and that's it. I wasn't at the game so I dont know the circumstances. But I have seen several games in which the team I pull for was up big and tried to sub and the opposing team still has their starters in or what-not. Our team had to put the older kids back in just for the simple fact that they didnt want their young kids get killed by bigger, older kids. Like I said, I wasn't there, and have no clue of the circumstances, but I have seen that before in the past. I do, however, disagree with the Oakdale coach bashing another staff in the local paper though. That's not very professional. Like I said, just been reading this and read the article and wanted to throw my two cents in. That and a nickel will buy you...well...nothing these days but you get my drift! Well bud, the Panthers are kinda hard to figure out. They are a young team in many key spots. They look great at times and they look not so great at times. I guess thats the downfall of having a young team. They are talented and they play hard for four quarters. At least thats what ive seen of them so far this season. If they can ever get over their inconsistent play, then they will be hard to handle. They had a good Oneida team on the ropes and had a costly turnover that lead to a td and a costly penalty that hurt them as well and lead to a field goal which decided the game. They arent very big in size but they play with a lot of heart it seems to me. Im hoping they can iron out some of their mistakes and play a complete game...and i hope that it starts this friday! Their running back is good, their qb is good and they got some good receivers...but theyre all young. Thats the downer on this team right now. I will say this, they seem to be getting better every week though and I know the fan base is waiting for them to break out...hope its soon!!!

I have seen CG in all three games and in the pre-season. And all I can tell you is that they improve each and every week. Mistakes are killing them right now. They are a young team at many key spots. But what I can say is that they play hard for four quarters and dont give up. That's what impresses me the most about that bunch right now. Congrats to Oneida. What a hard fought football game by both teams. Too many crucial mistakes by CG at very inopportune times. A roughing the punter and a botched punt return lead to 2 Oneida scores. Oneida was able to capitalize though and that's the way the ball bounces sometimes. Good luck to the tribe the rest of the way. You guys have got a good football team. Hope you guys win the rest. For CG, keep battling and hanging in there, it will go your way at some point. Just keep your heads up.

Well the game is tonight and I am pumped. I'm hoping that the rain will hold off, but even if it doesn't, I'll still be there! Heard that CG had a pretty good week of practice.
