  1. I'll be there to cheer on Lindsay and the Lady Pats tonight!!! Good luck to Rush Strong! Don't cause too much trouble, DZ. haha......
  2. sleeper pick: Jason Deering, Jeff County JC lost 7 seniors last year (19 win team) and are currently loaded with sophomores (winless). Might be overlooked because of the win/loss record, but Jason is a talented, young kid who can play with the best of them. Is still adjusting to bigger role, but once he gets that "feel" with teammates, will start putting up lofty numbers.
  3. Easy, DZ.......oh, I mean, DuckinAround...... Lauren Lyke, from Rush Strong, is the one blessed with height between the Lyke sisters......Like Lindsay, she is an awfully talented basketball player......I can see her helping Jeff County on the varsity level next year.....I know she will work hard this offseason to be able to step into varsity action, whether it be at the wing or post position.....While there will be a transition period (with the departures of veterans Huff, Rickard, Lyke this year and Kyle and Sinard next year), Jeff County has some more talented players waiting to fill their shoes DZ, This old man from Jefferson County says you need to buy you some new pants (and don't hide his water next time at the ballgame)
  4. Jefferson County's 3 point assassin Lindsay Lyke - with Huff and Rickard dominating down low and Sinard and Kyle driving by defenders, her outside touch is a perfect complement to this year's returning sub-state team (who only lost 1 starter)
  5. I believe the Halls scrimmage proved the balance that the Lady Patriots have this year. When Halls decided to practically stick all 5 players in the paint to stop Huff and Rickard, Lyke and Kyle were able to knock down shot after shot from the outside. The defense tenacity was present, also. Jeff. Co. was able to fustrate Halls and force multiple turnovers. I am glad to see Sinard running the point for us. With the youngsters getting into the game at the end, they were able to see how Varsity Girls basketball is in highschool. I was very encouraged by the performance yesterday. Hope we can keep the momentum heading into next week's contest versus Karns. Go Lady Pats!
  6. Sleeper pick- Lindsay Lyke - Jefferson County A senior sharpshooter (fans of Tennessee High will remember her from region last year) With the likes of Huff, Kyle, Sinard, and Rickard, Lyke provides the outside shooting to make the Patriots a well-rounded team.
  7. Haha....clever name ain't it, Heath? Again, the girls are well-rounded offensively. They have the ability to hit the outside shot and have the size to score down low. Like Heath said, big game experience never hurts. Defensively, these girls are athletic and will be able to pressure the ball on most teams. I will be surprised if they go 10 deep, but they have worked hard in conditioning over the offseason in order to overcome the lack of depth.
  8. I have heard the news that Sarah Jane was at tryouts today too. As far as the Chambers' comments go, Haley will be a good role player for the Lady Patriots, giving some rest to Huff and Rickard down low. And as far as the comments for Shane, if anybody attended a Patriot's basketball game, he/she would of seen a player giving his all for the team. If that makes a player "horrible," well then, that young man is guilty as charged. Go Lady Patriots and welcome back Sarah Jane!
  9. I have not heard confirmation on Sarah Jane Sinard, but I believe that she has been plagued by knee problems in her past. I don't know if that is a factor or not in her decision, but since she is an avid golfer, it might just persuade her to focus on one sport.
  10. whose got an update or a final of the Morristown west game?
  11. This year's team will look upon last year's playoff run as added motivation to take it a step farther and reaching state.....Losing Sinard certainly hurts but they still have the firepower to be a dominant team.....With the speedy Kyle running up and down the court, Lyke draining 3's from the outside (remember the TN High playoff game?), and Huff and Rickard scoring down low, JC will have the talent to score, but everybody knows defense wins championships. If they can harass the teams as they did last year, they can get the easy transitition buckets and disrupt the offensive flow of their opponents. If the younger players, such as Holt and Chambers, can get some quality minutes, that will help as far as depth goes. Go Lady Patriots!
  12. Not only is Jeff Jennings a great person and a true student-athlete, but he will also be a great football player for Vanderbilt. Just because he didn't go to UT doesn't mean he isn't an SEC type-player. He already is getting snaps at RB as a true freshman. For those who missed a Jefferson County football or basketball game last year, you missed an incredible athlete. If he would of been a feature back (shared most of snaps with scatback Scooter Houston), he would of won Mr. Football, hands down. He is an extremely dedicated teammate, and he is just as mentally tough as he is physically tough (and he is pretty dang tough.) It will be a pleasure watching him play on Saturdays in the SEC over the next four years.
