  8. Lincoln County congrats on a great season. The game last night was a classic as I knew it would be coming in. I always enjoy the spirited competition that your program brings to the park. Your parental support is great. Your facilities are great. Your entire program is one that your community can be very proud of. Whitney, good luck in your future. I look forward to hearing good things from you at the next level. One great thing about last night is the game was played wide open with as much intensity as possible, and after it was over friends can both congratulate and console the respective teams and programs. I consider myself very privledged to call the Lincoln County softball program and supporters my personal friends. Troy, Rick, Dave, Sherry, and others thanks for doing things the right way for your kids and high school sports.

  13. Those questions have not been discussed fully yet. Probably will be in a different location in 2006.
  14. This will be a little long: NFHS Rule 9-6 Art. 6 Winning and losing pitchers are determined as follows: a. If the starting pitcher has pitched the first four innings or more and the team is ahead when the pitcher is replaced and it holds the lead for the remainder of the game, the starting pitcher shall be the winning pitcher. b. If a game ends for whatever reason, having gone less than 7 innings, then the starting pitcher must have pitched 3 or more consecutive innings to be declared the winning pitcher. If the starting pitcher cannot be declared the winning pitcher and more than one relief pitcher is used, the winning pitcher is determined as follows: 1. If the score is tied, it results in the game becoming a new contest so far as judging who is the winning and losing pitcher. 2. If the starting pitcher is replaced before having pitched four or more innings and the team is ahead, the official scorekeeper shall determine the winning pitcher to be the relief pitcher who has been the most effective. 3. When the opposition goes ahead, pitchers up to that time in the game cannot be credited with the win. However, if the pitcher who was pitching when the opponents took the lead remains in the game as pitcher and his or her team subsequently takes and maintains the lead the remainder of the game, said pitcher is credited with the win. 4. Generally the relief pitcher credited with the win is the pitcher who is pitching when the team takes the lead and holds it for the rest of the game. However, if the relief pitcher pitches only a short while or not effectively and a succeeding relief pitcher enters and does better work in keeping the lead, the latter shall be granted the win. c. If a pitcher is replaced by a pinch hitter or a pinch runner, the runs scored by the teamduring the inning of removal are credited to that pitchers benefit for deciding the pitcher of record when the team takes the lead. d. The starting pitcher shall be charged with the loss when replaced and the team is behind or falls behind because of runs assessed to the starting pitcher after being replaced and the team does not subsequently tie the score nor take the lead. e. A pitcher cannot be given credit for pitching a shutout if the pitcher does not pitch the complete game, unless the player enters the game with no one out before the opponents have scored in the first inning and she does not permit the opposition to score during the game. Saves do not count as wins on the pitchers record. Saves are relatively rare in softball. The teams with saves in their record usually have good pitching STAFFS.
  15. NFHS Rule 9-6 Art. 7 In order for a pitcher to be credited with a save, she shall meet all three of the following criteria: a. she is the last pitcher in the gamewon by her team; and b. she is not the winning pitcher; and c. she meets at least one of the following: 1. she enters the game with a lead of not more than three runs and pitches at least one inning; or 2. she enters the game, regardless of the count on the batter, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck; or 3. she pitches effectively for at least three innings. note: A starting pitcher who is replaced and then re-enters as pitcher can be credited with a win but not a save.
  16. Blazin08, Don't take this as a negative toward you catcher or team, only toward your stats. Your catcher may in her career become an All Midstate player. She was 0 for 1 (K,BB) vs. Catalano and 0 for 2 (K, Fielders choice) vs. CAT. Riverdale also stole 5 bases in the first game alone. Her .494 reported batting average is tremendous, but 0 for 3 vs. Riverdale. Again, she is a good player, just don't blow your numbers up.
  17. Batter-runner should have to touch 1st base safely for the game to be over. If she retreats toward dugout she should be out. That would have been a tough call to make to keep that game going. Other strange things have been called in the past though. Someone else asked me this question yesterday. I think my answer is correct. NFHS Rule 8-2 article 4 The batter-runner shall be called out when: Art. 4 The batter-runner fails to advance to first base and enters the team area after a batted fair ball, a base on balls, a hit batter, a dropped third strike, or catcher obstruction. Penalty: The ball is dead and runners must return to the last base legally touched at the time of infraction.

Riverdale is 6 - 0 as of 4/15/05. Remaining games in district: Oakland (2) Warren Co. (1) Cookeville (2) White Co. (2) Lebanon (1)
  19. In the past I've been involved in several of these games. This has been the scenario in all of them. Regular season games are started over. Post season games are picked up from the point of suspension. TSSAA really does not care about regular season games. All they want is for each district to have two teams ready for regional play. Each district is given alot of freedom to decide how the two teams that go to the region are determined. Jeff Breeden
  20. Cancelled because of rain. 4/12/05
  21. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. You are in our thoughts and prayers. The Riverdale Warrior Family
  22. Congrats Coach Head! It's always a pleasure to watch your kids play and a challenge to coach against you. Quality coach, program, and person. Congrats again from the Riverdale faithful.
  23. We will have a plan to put in place if need be. Keep your fingers crossed with us that the rain will stay away. I can assure you that every ounce of energy will be put forth to get fields ready to play, safely.
