  1. Each host site for our tournament made over $1,000 profit to put into their own programs. How many times have you ever attended another schools tournament, made money and played home games? The host schools seemed to really enjoy the format. As far as number of games go, please look at the weather over the past few years and the weather this season. At the end of this season, most good teams are going to play 50 or more games. As far as our tournament goes, each host site has very good facilities. My question has always been why play at parks when each high school in our area has great fields to play on. We followed baseballs lead on the style and format of the tournament. The only drawback I can see is that we don't get to see all the coaches unless they came by the hotel and visited with us in the hospitality room. The 2011 tournament that we host will be similar to this years format with probably some kind of elimination games on Sunday. Thanks for your obsession with our games and tournament. We can use all the help we can get in making it better each year! Thanks to all the teams that were in our tournament in 2010 and we look forward to seeing you in 2011! 5. For everyone on this thread, enough is enough! David Woods and I were friends before the state tournament and are friends today! Riverdale has the utmost respect for Beech's Softball program. I feel like that is mutual toward us. The championship games were played by young ladies who laid it all on the line for their respective schools and programs. They were hard fought games! In athletics there must be a winner and a loser to each contest. In the state tournament there are no losers. Teams are there because the earned the right to be there. Each team at the state tournament had excellent seasons. The state winners just had the ball bounce their way. Every dog has its day. Friday and Saturday just happened to be our, Riverdales, day. Next time the ball could bounce the other way. We are cherishing the state title and hope to be in a position to get more in the future. Beech will also have opportunities to contend for state titles again in the future. Again, two hard fought games by fine young ladies and coaches that have respect for each other! Let's just leave it at that! Jeff Breeden Riverdale Warriors

  11. The pro is that the weather is much better in the fall. A con for me is that I also coach football. (I would have to make a choice.) I think a con would be tournaments played on Fall weekends. I think a big part of the high school experience is Friday night Football. I think every student, especially athletes would miss out on some great experiences if we are playing softball on Friday night in the fall. I think a con is having tournaments while college football is being played on Saturday's. In the South, football is KING! Some may not agree with me, but this is just my humble opinion.

  17. Let me clear this situation up for everyone. CAT was added to the team after the team had been selected, so she did not take anyone elses spot on this list. Here are CAT's stats for the first 10 ten days of the season that she played. I think when you read these stats that you will agree she was headed for one tremendous senior season. Offense Plate App. 38, Official at bats 31, hits 16, Runs 4, BB 4, HBP 1, Sac 2, ROE 2, 2B 4, 3B 0, HR 4, TB 32, K 4, RBI's 16, Slug % 1.032, on base % .639, BA .516 Defense chances 14, Putouts 3, Assists 11, errors 0, Fielding % 1.000 Pitching innings 54.67, Batters faced 195, Hits 13, Runs 2, K's 124, BB 9, HBP 2, Earned Runs 2, Balls 231, Strikes 543, total pitches 774, strike % 70.2, K/BB ratio 13.8, K/7inn 15.9, Opp. Avg. .071, ERA 0.26, Wins 9, Loses 1, saves 1 Both runs given up were on a homerun to Katie Ayers of Father Ryan. That was also the loss on her record in 2008. I would say let those numbers speak for themselves. Jeff Breeden
  18. If you would like to see the coaches who are members of MTSCA please go to www.MTSCA.org and click on members. I personally get sick and tired of reading about how people think all star teams are political. The MTSCA coaches were allowed to vote online for All Middle Tenn. and All Stars. Votes were tabulated and the team selected. That is the end of the story. The players either had enough votes or they did not. Some good players were not nominated by their coaches and some coaches do not belong to the association. The political comments do not fly with me. Politics in the selection of these teams played no role in these selections. I would be interested in knowing why a head coach in middle Tenn. would not join the MTSCA in the first place. The whole purpose of the MTSCA is to elevate the game of softball in middle Tenn. By giving scholarships, recognizing good players, and having all star games the players get more opportunities to play. If these all star teams don't go the way YOU think they should, please ask your head coach why they are not a member of this organization and offer to pay the $25 fee for them next year. The MTSCA wants to do the best they can to promote the players and the game of softball in the Middle Tennessee area. If your head coach wants to get involved, please have them contact a board member of MTSCA and we can find a project to put them to work for the betterment of the game. Jeff Breeden
