  1. I know the coach at McMinn Central resigned. Maybe more in the area.
  2. How hard will tickets be to get to theis game? I will be traveling up to watch it (2+ hours), I have no connection to either program just wanting to watch two good fotball teams duking it out. I will probably call DB on Monday or so to see if they are preselling the tickets. Thanks.
  3. Because the schedule is picked before the season ever starts and they give coverage to a variety of teams. (Althoguh most of the teams that play multiple times are the Chattanooga based teams.) August 26 - Baylor @ East Ridge September 2 - Ooltewah @ McMinn Co. September 9 - Howard @ East Ridge September 16 - Hixson @ Central September 23 - Soddy Daisy @ Hixson September 30 - Polk County @ Howard October 7 - Howard @ Tyner October 14 - Tellico Plains @ Notre Dame October 21 - Brainerd @ Hixson October 28 - Hixson @ Red Bank I agree the ND vs Tellico Plains game should not have been on TV, but CSS made that decision.
  4. Any other openings? What about assistant job openings?
  5. Alcoa can put up what they want against them. The thing is how many Tornados break 100 yards receiveing, rushing and returning.
  6. Defense will be the key for this game, whoever makes the mistakes on D, it will make the difference. Big palys on offense because of mental break downs on defense by one team or the other will be what loses this game. I give the edge to the 'Kees at the moment because of momentum, although WB has played very touhg opponents the last couple of weeks. McMinn 21 WB 18
  7. That is why they run a 4-4 defense those outside linebackers are pretty decent. plus I don't think they have a bad tackler on the defense. Polk wins by 13, 27-14. If Hawkins has a bad game it will be a lot worse though.
  8. Polk wins by 40. Coach Davis runs a tight ship, both of them. Polk has a man at FB.
  9. Prepaid reservations are great.
  10. Just wondering if anyone on here was going to the night race? I will be around Friday night after our game, then travel up there about (2+ hours). I will be staying at Farmer Bob's Campground(www.farmerbobcampground.com), nice place. But I will have to be back on Sunday for a our coaches meeting. Gotta love traveling. Gotta love football. Gotta love Nascar.
  11. Hastings in Maryviille does not have it yet. (Thats what they said on the phone.)
  12. So what is great about this team? Who is going to be great and why? What is going to make them great? Lost Coaches Rhodes and Dupes. Lost some Seniors that were very important, even if they didn't work as some say. Give us details......... What is their record going to be.....who will they beat?
  13. 1. Polk Co. 2. East Ridge 3. Notre Dame 4. Meigs Co. 5. Grundy Co. 6. Howard 7. Tellico Plains 8. McMinn Central 9. Sequoyah
  14. With both starting Runningbacks out, County did OK on offense. I think that the secondary is weak and the WILL LBer is a weak point as well. I think that McDermont could help out at the WILL. The score of varsity action was 18-0 with 2 TDs and 2 Safeties. (Both safeties were results of poor snaps by the center.) The first half of the game Central played really well, but the County defense made the adjustment and made plays the second half. McDermont, Holland and Moses carried the ball well for the Cherokees. County had trouble passing the ball as well. The weakness of the Cherokee offense is still the line, they will get better before fall camp. Central still spreads it out on offense, mainly to run the ball, with Moses and Barnett. Their defense held their own against the Cherokees.
  15. Does A-E have a Head Coach yet? Its getting late isn't it?
  16. On such a short notice, who wins this matchup between the two county rivals? Rumor/grapevine says that County has a lot of starters either injured or in baseball how big of a difference will this make?? Will the Chrerokees only win by the skin of their teeth or will Central pull the upset? Central returns a lot of starters and could give the Cherokees a run for their money.... Should be a pretty decent game, it starts tonight at 7:00 (I think.)
  17. Heard that the Irish beat the Cherokees something like 4-1 in varsity action. Also heard that Catholic scored on the secondary with some passes. Was not there just relaying what I heard.
  18. What are the teaching positions that are open if they lost coaches?? PE? Guidance, History, Science? If they need some more coaches they got to have a position to put them in, don't they? Who all left? Mackersie and Bennett? Did Bunkle go as well, I heard he had an offer. The Cherokees have a long standing tradition of winning, they will come around, last year was a down team compared to other teams in Athens.
  19. No news yet, possible Special Ed position opening, though. Could happen this week. They are wanting someone in for spring ball. Could be a good or bad hire depending on what happens with the teaching spot. If nothing opens who knows what happens.
  20. I heard Bennett got a sweet deal in Bradley County, (What I heard was a Driver's Ed job with a car and gas card, and told him to drive the car anywhere, I don't know how much truth there is to that or not.) I do think that he is leaving without stepping on anyones toes though. Who knows his kid may want to go County when they get older, he lives in Riceville, don't he? He is a good teacher and a heck of a coach as well. He will be an excellent HC one day.
  21. I talked to someone earlier today that is close to the program. They said that they may have to reopen the process, they are not overlythrilled with any of the candidates, other than the ones they don't have a position for. Rumor is that a special ed position will be the one that comes open. No PE, No History unless the old HC leaves. I do know one person who wants it but only wants a 100 day contract, but I don't think they are going to bite at that one...administration that is. Guess we will see soon.
  22. You need to talk to Mr. Moser, he is the principal, and it was announced in the local paper in Monroe County. And why would Satterfield leave his cushy job at the 'back? Yeah he loses a lot of people but he also gets those people from Blount to play for him, what dod you get from Seq. ? A WR who runs takes plays off?
  23. Is it true that Coach Satterfield is interested in leaving Greenback? From the rumor mill, I have heard that he is interested in the Sequoyah Chiefs and on the quiet side they are as well. The school has to much talent walking the halls not to be more competitive than they are. I think Coach Satterfield is a great coach and could turn many programs around if the community and the players are behind him like they are in Greenback.
