  1. When I first seen that ALCOA had beaten 3 different 5a Schools by quite large margins I thought the MUSTANGS might be in for a long night. After a further look those 5a teams had a combined record of 6 Wins and 24 Losses. Alcoa's AA regular season opponents had a combined record of 18 Wins and 36 Losses. Just a little something to think about. GO STANGS!!!!
  2. Well, I hope the STANGS can be competitive enough not to be playing Alcoa's freshmen squad by the 3rd QTR!!! This is reaalllllllll funny. This is definitely locker room material. Maybe the STANGS shouldnt even make the trip????????? GO STANGS!!! Do your talkin on the field!!!!!!!!
  3. He wouldnt know his team dont go ever go to the title game. Anyway, we need to move our traffic to the Alcoa and Huntingdon post. We got unfinished business, WESTN2004STATE an WESTVIEWCHARGER man are already rooting for the basketball team. Most Milan and Westview fans have a clue and to them I having nothing but respect. But these two nuckleheads arent worth the time. GO STANGS!!!!!
  4. ditto hardhead 70. Lets go westtnstate2004 how about a CONGRATS to the Mustangs; then you can go ahead a brag on the DAWGS all you want. Show some class dude.
  5. To our friends and neighbors on the other side of the Cumberland Plateau. We will be honored to step on the field next Friday and defend our State Title. I dont know anything about Alcoa Football, but I hear you have great tradition. The only thing I can tell about Mustang Football is that you dont have to worry about us trying to out finesse you. We just simply line up and see what you got. See ya in the boro. GO STANGS!!!!! How does another bling bling sound?
  6. Well, there is a changing of the guard occuring in West TN football. The STANGS have once again proven their worth. Best of luck to the Bulldog faithful, your program is still the one everyone in West Tn wants to emulate. To the boys in Blue and Gold you have to play another 48 minutes of hard nosed football and you will bring home that 2nd GOLD BALL. Congrats on getting back to the boro, but there is still one more game to play. Who says defense dont win championships. Final Score Huntingdon - 28 Alcoa - 7
  7. That should worry you even more, the STANGS made about 4 or 5 BIG MISTAKES in that game (ie...turnovers & mishandling kickoffs). Milan still only one by 8 points. If Huntingdon eliminates the mistakes you will need several trick plays to win this one. I think well be ready for the ole onside kick. Go STANGS!!!!
  8. THe STANGS havent forgotten the way to Milan. You DAWGS buckle up your chinstrap real tight. Hope the DAWGS dont have another 4th QTR meltdown. Oh yeah I forgot, let the trash talk begin!!! Go BLUE!!!!!!!!!
  9. Well, the STANGS did what they needed to do tonight to win. They played tough defense and ball control offense. Camden should be real proud of their team, they played good football the entire season. Huntingdon needs to take a look at the previous Milan game and realize how close they were in the first half of putting them away, but they let it slip away. If the STANGS play the same tough defense (they showed the past 5 games) for the entire 48 minutes next week , protect the ball and they will be going back to the boro.
  10. I agree, enough talk. Its time to play. Go Stangs!!!!!!! thumb Best wishes to all who compete!!!
  11. Thats some real good "Chest Beating" your doing there. Anyone who has paid attention the last 30 years realize how many trophies the Dawgs have! Our collective hat is off to the great tradition at Milan. They know how to WIN CONSISTENTLY. But its pretty obvious "you" dont know how to be classy about it. I hope you dont represent the majority of Milan fans. Just remember, if you dont be nice Santa Claus just may just leave a bag of switches in your stocking for Christmas!!! Or maybe even worse, you may have to watch the 2-A title game on cable from your living room like you did last year. By the way what did yall do with all the State Champs shirts you had printed up last year? Dont worry, yall can change the dates and use them this year. Im sure the DAWGS are a cinch to win it all.
  12. Well, I was trying to refrain from commenting on this one but here it goes. I have a tremendous respect for this Lion's Team. They play smart and hard. They have some athletes and their good kids too. But as a recent comparison to any other team, I would compare them to the Mckenzie Rebels of 2001. That rebel team went 10-0 or 9-1(cant remember) in the regular season. Even beat the Mustangs at their house!!!!! They had a good running back (Stenberg) and qb (Hopper) as well as a good O-Line and D-Line with size and quickness that year. They won first two in playoffs and then got severely humbled, I believe by Westview. The point of this comparison is that when a team makes that giant leap of success in one season it is hard for young players (who have not been there before) to realize how much it takes to win in the third, fourth, and the final round of the playoffs. The Stangs even experienced some of this their first trip to the Clinic Bowl and they had been in several big games prior to that. They were so glad to be there, but Goodpasture came to win because they had already been there. I am not saying the Lions cannot win Friday night, they have enough talent to pull it off (especially if the Stangs help some ie... turnovers). But it helps if your program has been in some big games before (in recent memory). If the Lions can maintain this kind of winning consistency for another 2 or 3 years it will really start to show in the Big Games. Just throwing this out there. What do you Lion fans think?
  13. Should be a great game. Do you think the Lions can stop the run? Weathers and Donald both had off nights against Cheatham County but the field was soggy. It may come down to the turnovers in this one. Huntingdon will have to score more than 14 points to win. GO STANGS!!!! thumb
  14. If Camden can stop the 30,40, & big 50 yard runs that Weathers and Donald can put on a team, then their chance of winning is very good. Even though Huntingdon's Defense has pitched a couple of shut outs in a row, I dont see them shutting the Lions out. I think they will have to score more than 14 points to beat the Lions. You know Markham and Company will get there share of points. Can the Lions stop the run consistently and put Huntingdon in long yardage situations on third down? That will be the key to the game. Huntingdon's O-line better be ready for a dog fight. Or it may just come down to which team turns the ball over (one critical turnover could decide this one). Should be a good game. Go Stangs!!!!!
  15. Definitely Weathers, you think you got him and poof he is gone (kinda like Barry Sanders). He will run over you too! A lot of backs have good stats but if my team had time for one play to win the game "BOO" would be the one you have to get the ball too. He can take it the distance on any play. Oh yeah, did I mentioned he is a fine young man too!!!
  16. Camden will win and so will Huntingdon. Lewis Co. was yall's (5-2A) champ last year with an undefeated regular season and Camden nearly beat them as a #4 seed. The Stangs went up there a in the quarter finals (when they were 12-0) and put a thrashing on them at home. 5-2A plays a different brand of ball. 3 or 4 yards at a time and a cloud of dust. Its tough football and extremely physical (your team is beat up when they get on the bus) but it wont get them to the boro. Got to have a couple of home run hitters in the line-up (ie..Weathers, Donald, Guy, Boyd, Walker). I havent seen that level of talent in 5-2A consistently. Just my opinion, no disrepect intended. Best wishes and good luck to all who compete.
  17. Let me ask you Bulldog fan, why would that photo make the Mustang faithful mad? We won that game on our way to the State Title!!! I know the Bulldogs were already making room for the 5th Golden Football in yall's trophy case last year. We just happened to have a group of kids last year that would not quit and had plans of their own. But as they say, that was last year; it dont mean nothing this year. I hope this years group of Mustangs will get that same desire over the next 4 weeks. Go Mustangs!! and good luck to the Bulldogs. Yall are the definitely the example of what a winning high school football program is all about.
  18. 27 points is enough to win most high school football games if you have a couple of other ingredients to go with it. Defense and no turnovers. If the Mustangs can play stingy defense and not turn the ball over in the playoffs they will be o.k. Sounds easy but it will take a lot of discipline on both sides of the ball. The kids need to forget about the pressure of following a state championship team because all the sophomores, juniors, and seniors are already wearing a state championship ring. Just wonder how many thousands of former high school football players from across the nation played all four years and never got a ring. There should be no pressure; this team should just start playing smart and have fun. The rest will take care of itself. There is no doubt that they have the athletes to complete deep into the playoffs!!!! thumb
  19. Camden is for real this year. They have a very balanced attack in Markham and Boyd. I too have watched these youngsters since minor ball and they are a special group that will give it all they got. Their big test will be on defense. Will they be able to stop the strong running games that Milan, Westview or Huntingdon will be prepared to throw at them in the playoffs. It always comes down to being able to stop the run game in the playoffs. Playoff football is always real physical in the end. If you dont believe it just ask David Lispcomb the difference in finesse and power. They found out the hard way at the Boro last year; and they were 14-0 going in. Lot of respect from this fan for Lions. They been through some tough years and now their enjoying some success because a group of young men have really worked hard. Good luck.
  20. The real test for both teams will be the playoffs as usual. A multiple personality football team will not last long when the playoffs start. Neither of these teams have learned how to be consistent. That comes from senior leadership. Watch out for Westview and Humboldt. Both of these teams have enough athletes to come out of West Tn 2A and go to Murfreesboro.
