  1. "he is good, but I saw no indication that he will be playing on Saturday's" "He has a long way to go before that will Happen" "The only way I see him being a definite scholarship player is if he transfers to Munford" "Lacks dicipline to be considered an elite player at this time" Try to twist YOUR words for new meaning if it makes you feel better. But you spoke without knowledge of what you were talking about and you were wrong. It happens, live with it. BTW, players who are not "elite" players do now get sholarship offers from SEC teams. I will not waste any more of my time stating the obvious--YOU were WRONG. Try to deflect from this fact by changing your argument all you want, NOBODY's BUYING"
  2. Really tough for you to admit you are wrong, huh? That's Ok, we all know you were (as you know you were). You said he would not play on Saturday's based on his football abilities. He has committed to Ole Miss proving you wrong. National signing day is in February and the one thing you said correctly is then it becomes official. Schools pull offers sometimes, but no school that ever wants to recruit again pulls an offer after a player commits. Players sometimes back out after commitments, but to accept another offer, therefore still "playing on saturday's" Sure several things could happen to prevent him from playing including injury, but that's not what you were basing your he won't play on Saturday's comment. So you don't really have to admit you were wrong, we already know you were.
  3. Unfortunately RW, you are already wrong. The Player Yank mentioned (Gavin Hardin) has already committed to Ole Miss. Therefore he will be playing on Saturday's. It is always wise to have basic knowledge of what you speak before before argue "absurdity".
  4. The "Rock" is one of the most hallowed places in West Tennessee football. The legendary names that have graced this legendary field is quite lenghty. It has got old and run down a little and the fan base has dwindled, and it is quite probable that the younguns (and some old the olduns) do not know and appreciate what has happened on that field, but show respect for history my friends, because history is what makes the "Rock" special to us old timers.
  5. Does anyone know if Liberty has hired a new girls head coach yet.
  6. Don't know about the coach------Is Liberty moving to 4-A in football this year?
  7. There is probably a built in disadvanatge (nobody's fault) with District 12 AA--a West tennessee district--going to Middle Tennessee for Region 5/6 teams. Even many of the better players would be totally unknown to most (if not all) of the coaches. Most of the better players in middle Tennessee have been seen or at least heard of by the time tryouts roll around. I doubt the teams are prepicked, but obviously there would be some players who would be obvious choices without a tryout, and much of this would come with familiarity. Nothing wrong with this, you can tell a lot more about a guy you have seen or heard of their exploits all season than in a tryout envioronment with limited time for looks at each player. But I am sure there are spots left to be earned through tryout. I also applaud the coaches for taking their time to make this a possibility.
  8. I don't think anyone was dissing Dyer County. My comment was more on the fact that the Goodpasture pitcher had thrown 11 innings which I got from the box score. I was wondering how many pitches he threw to go 11. Wasn't at the game, but it had to be a great one and obviously could have gone either way and a tough loss for Dyer County. My opinion is any team that has made the state tournament has earned respect. And if your still playing, you still got a chance to win. Good luck to the DC.
  9. Bruins and Eagles need to bounce back tonight. As long as your still playing, you still got a chance. Just makes the trip a little more difficult now. May come down now to who has the deepest pitching, most teams have probably used their #1's and #2's. Good luck to USJ and JCS tonight, fight to live another day.
  10. 11 innings pitched for Akins? How many pitches did he throw?
  11. Final Score Gibbs 9 USJ 4 Has anyone heard a final on Dyer Co/Goodpasture? AA Tonight's games USJ/Marshall Co Seymour/Dyer Co-Goodpasture loser
  12. Gibbs plates 6 in 4th, Gibbs 7 USJ 4 after 5.
  13. Huntingdon scores 6 in bottom of 7th for a 8-7 comeback win. Mcadams with a 3 run homer made it 7-5. Crocker started inning with single and ended game with RBI single for 8-7 final. Good job, Stangs. Dyer Co Goodpasture 1-1 in 9th.
  14. Richland 7 Huntingdon 2 going to bottom of 7th. USJ leads Gibbs 4-1 in 3rd.
  15. Lexington is not playing Dyer county, they are playing Seymour. Lexington just tied the game in the 4th.
  16. I would definitely put this in the must win category. Good luck to the Big Red Tigers.
  17. USJ takes 2-1 lead in 4th. Goodpasture still 2-0 over Lexington in 4th.
  18. Marshall County leads USJ 1-0 in 4th. Goodpasture leads Lexington 2-0 in 3rd.
  19. "Dying ain't much of a living, boy". Everytime I get to liking somebody, they ain't around long. When you get to disliking somebody, they ain't around long, either.
  20. Both pitchers threw 7 inning shutouts against excellent teams and both deserved to win. MC was able to push one across in 9th and win. Great game dominated by 2 great pitchers that could have went either way. MC made that extra play (or hit) that they had to make. Congrats to MC and to Bolivar on great seasons. And hats off to both pitchers for treating everyone to a great game.
  21. Good luck to all. Bring us back 2 or 3 ships to West Tennessee.
  22. They split 2 games during regular season and Bolivar defeated Lexington in District Championship game. Lexington used their #1 pitcher yesterday and Bolivar (I think) used their #1 and #2 guy--not sure how much each pitched. Score in District Championship game was 14-12 and Lexington scored 9 and Bolivar 8 in regional semi's yeaterday, so probably will be a high scoring game. Pretty evenly matched teams, Bolivar will be at home, could go either way.
  23. Congrats to John Wills (and the rest of the Bruins).
  24. This is a district that the top 4 teams played mostly low scoring games against each other in regular season, the 3-2, 2-1, 4-2, 5-0 type games. In District tournament the scores were 14-12, 18-11, 15-11, 9-5 games in last 4 games. The field is small for a high school field, but it was small for all teams, It just favored the teams with the most 320 fly ball hitters. Maybe it as the hot weather, the wind that caused the ball to be jumping, but everything that got up seemed to go out. And not all runs were home runs, there were the walks and HBP's and hits that preceded the home runs. I know Liberty only played 3 games and hit as many HR's as they did in regular season and gave up more home runs than they did in regular season in over 30 games. But all teams had the same advantages and disadvantages. Good luck to Bolivar and Lexington in regionals.
