  1. I heard it advertised as live broadcast on jea channel 6. It was not listed, but I taped all the shows that were listed that night on channel 6 that night. So I have it in about 4 different segments. Commentary was not very good, carried on a lot of conversation, but often identified the wrong players at bat, pitching on the bases etc. But it was still fun to watch. Maybe they could replay the game and let everyone tape it.
  2. Also Ryan Seaton-Ripley, defensive player of game. The first 2 innings were a little rocky, after that was a well played game. Never did see a box score for game, but Thomas, Haynes, Ferrell and Mosier had 2 hits each for grey team and Wills and Parrish had 3 hits for blue team. Griffin had triple and got last 3 outs for save. I think Edenfield was winning pitcher and Wallace the losing pitcher. Not official, just watched the replay of game and this is all I remember.
  3. Stop thinking and keep swinging. If you can hit, you can hit. All hitters go through slumps which are complicated by overthinking every AB. Go back to basics, then grip it and rip it.
  4. I think the TCBA website said June 27.
  5. Brian Ferrell, Matt Haynes and Curt Fuqua from Liberty High School are on the team. I have not seen information anywhere of rosters. Supposedly 40 players (20 each team) high school seniors from West Tennessee. That's about all I have heard. Game was a good game and fun to watch last year.
  6. Final regular season standings in 13 AAA Liberty 7-1 Hardin Co 5-3 Munford 4-4 Brighton 4-4 JCM 0-8 Not sure who is #3 and #4 seed in tourney Munford and Brighton split and I think both games were 3-2. District tournament starts next Wednesday at Liberty. Should be some good games, the top 4 teams are pretty evenly matched.
  7. Kyle Brown from Liberty threw a no hitter against Milan at Pringles Park Thrusday. Someone must have thought they were renting the place by the hour as the game was played in an hour and 10 minutes. Liberty picked up just 3 hits, one of which was an RBI double high off the left field wall by Matt Haynes for the only run of the game. Only baserunners by Milan were on a stikeout on a wicked breaking pitch in the dirt that got away and an infield error. Liberty had only the 3 hits and were issued one walk and hat a hit batter, so just 7 baserunners in the game. Good job, Kyle Brown.

    Easter Slam

Liberty defeats North Side 4-0 in championship game. North Side beat Dyersburg and Liberty beat Humboldt in the semis.
  9. Liberty takes both games from Brighton to go 5-1 in district with 2 district games vs JCM left. Hardin County is 3-1 with 2 games left with Munford and 2 with Brighton. Munford and Brighton both have 3 district losses (2 each to Liberty and they split with each other). JCM is winless in district.

    Easter Slam

Is this pool play with winner of each pool advancing to semis? If so, looking at shcedule. pools look like: Dyersburg Halls Union City Milan North Side White House Liberty Westview Madison Humboldt South Side Fayette Academy Clarksville NW ???
  11. Liberty and Hardin County split 2 last week (4-3 HC and 5-3 Lib). Both are 3-1 in district. Liberty 2 wins over Munford and split with HC. HC 2 wins over JCM and split with Liberty. Do not know about Brighton, Liberty plays them tonight and tommorrow. Also not sure about Munford other than the 2 losses to Liberty. Looks like all 4 teams are pretty evenly matched.
  12. No, but I can give you a schedule of games played at Liberty 4/1 Liberty/Bolivar 3:30 Bolivar/McKenzie 5:45 Liberty/McKenzie 8:00 4/2 Liberty/Ripley 5:00 Bolivar/Ripley 7:15 4/3 Bolivar/Montgomery 3:30 Riverside/Montgomery 5:45 Liberty/Riverside 8:00 Semifinals and Finals Saturday at South Side (not sure if both semi's are at South Side) That's all I know.
  13. This sounds odd, but a district can set up tiebreakers, etc how they want. If this is the case, it's not that the first game doesn't count, but they are saying if teams are tied, the team that won the second meeting gets the tiebreaker and the #1 seed.
  14. Most plays in every game are easily discernable as a hit or an error. There are usually going to be 2 or 3 that could go either way and it is a judgement call. The key is to use the same judgement for every player on both teams. As stated, if it would have taken a great play to get the out, do not reward great effort by a fielder almost making a great play and call it an error. Also, if the runner would have been safe anyway, disregard the boot unless it gives them an extra base (as in bunts, slow rollers and balls in the hole)--sometimes this is obvious and sometime it is a judgement call. If throw is wild or first baseman drops the ball, if the runner has beaten the play, it is a hit and an error only if the overthrow allows an extra base.
  15. Opening Day Everyone is undefeated, optimism springs eternal, scrimmages are over, time for the real thing. Good luck to everyone, everyone stay healthy and enjoy the greatest game on earth.
  16. Although the ultimate goal is always to win it all, I would think there would be many teams out there that would have liked to have played in multiple state championship games and "come up short" after winning a state championship in the last 5 years. I am sure USJ wishes the ball had bounced a little different in those championship game losses, but they were there with the chance, most teams were not. It looks as if USJ will be very good this year. Losing a dominant pitcher like Gant will have an effect, but looks they still have plenty of pitching and offense. Maybe they can even make the championship game again and see if they can keep from "coming up short" this year.
  17. Slightly surprised, but nothing really surprises you much anymore about the steroid issue in baseball. I think if you were a true A-Rod fan (are there any of these /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> ), it would be a big deal. But otherwise, it's just another in a long line, just one who happens to be a superstar. If this story doesn't linger very long past spring training (and there is that chance since he admitted it), he will probably play long enough that this will become a distant memory to most. Now when and if he gets ready to break HR record, then this issue will probaby be brought back up. If Bonds had admitted use and had not broken the HR record, very few would care now. If Clemens had just shut up and let it blow over, not many people would care now. Hall of fame also becomes a question. Some are already being shunned because of steroid use. When Bonds and Clemens become eligible, were they good enough to overcome the juice issue. Arod may be far enough in the future and good enough that enough people will overlook the "3 years in Texas". Who knows?
  18. My youngest will be a senior this year. Next year will be weird not getting ready for high school baseball. How did we all get this old?
  19. Everytime the Cards look like they are going to fade away, they make a run. Everytime it looks like they are on a roll, they lose 2 or 3 they shouldn't. Rumor is Wainwright and Carpenter could be back in early August--if they can hang in till then, who knows? Hope I am wrong and Mulder does well, but don't think anyone expects him to have an impact.
  20. Cardinals have to hang close till they get Albert and Wainwright back. Team is hard to figure, they just keep taking 2 out of 3 from everyone no matter who goes down--can they continue to hang in there? If they stay close and have a healthy Wainwright and Carpenter to anchor the staff down the stretch (and Albert comes back soon healthy), they should have enough pitching to make a solid run. Cubs are the Cubs--they have most talent and should win, but they are going to have to prove it before most will believe.
  21. All Star game last night was great. Great job by the players and coaches, and by the Diamond jaxx staff. Enjoyed the game, was really fun watching a great game with so many excellent players to cheer for on both teams and not really care which teaam wins, just enjoy the game for the baseball. And thanks to the sponsors that helped make this happen. When you attend events like this, remember these people who help bring these events to us, and support their businesses when possible.
  22. Have heard rumors, but nothing solid. Coach English is leaving to pursue a career outside of baseball. Good luck to Coach English and the Liberty administration finding a new coach.
  23. Glad to see these 2 teams in the finals. Want both teams to win, know that can't happen, but at least one will. Good luck to both teams, hope it's a classic, congrats to the winner and also the runner-up, great accomplishment getting here.
  24. Great job Eagles. Pulling for that JCS/Huntingdon championship game.
