  1. 2nd place is the first loser!
  2. The sign appeared at the Harpeth vs. PF on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. I think it was the first game of the tournament. There was no need for a sign like that at anytime. Say Hi to all the Hillbillies back home working at the corn cobb pipe making exhibit at Dollywood.
  3. PF has the rude fans. When a fan sits in the stands with a sign that she holds up for the other teams fans to see that says "Sit down in your seat", what kind of true fan of kids and the game of baseball would hold up a sign like that? That is nothing but "hillbilly", plain old fashion corn cobb pipe making hillbilly. But I guess we all got the last laugh, so lady with the sign, "Sit down in your seat". Maybe next year you will get there with a better attitude and maybe even win it all.
  4. I agree and it was stopped as soon as it was heard by an adult. But fans shouldn't knock someone elses field. These are grown people I'm talking about not kids. Everybody just needs to learn and grow from this whole experience and make the rest of this year and the years to come more enjoyable for all. Good luck to your team and I personally respect your players and know in my heart that this game could have went either way because high school ball can be very unpredictable.
  5. This morning I have heard more acts of class from parents of Harpeth players made by Milan fans. They made comments concerning our bath room, "they hope we raised enough money to get an indoor bathroom, not a portable one". My reply, I have been to parks that teams play at and even though they had a "real bathroom" it's condition left something to be desired. We just played in Loretto on a very nice field, that I was told was funded by a Major League Player who played high school ball at Loretto, we haven't been that fortunate yet. They also made the comment "you call this a baseball field". This field has come along way in the last 4 years thanks to many donations and alot of hard work by the parents of these boys, it still has things to be done, but like all improvements, they take time and money. Hopefully with the success of this years team the school will put forth more effort and help improve the field and it's surroundings. But to answer the fans question, Yes it is a field, it's got grass, dirt, three bases, a home plate, dugouts, and a scoreboard, it's also home to one of the top 8 teams in the state! GO HARPETH!
  6. I agree totaly, enuff said about this, lets just hope something positive can come from this thread.
  7. I didn't make any predictions, I'm just saying high school ball can go either way. It's not about who has the best pitcher, the best hitter or best team. It's all about who plays the best on any given day. This game could have went either way. It is o.k. to be confident in your team, but don't take any opponent for granted because every kid that played this year had dreams of being where these two teams were today, and I can tell you there are alot of people at Harpeth that knew this team had talent, but I don't think they ever thought they would be making plans to got to Memphis. I just think your fan got a little ahead of the game.
  8. You had every right to be, I don't blame you, but it happened on both sides and it was kids on both sides, they just have some growing up to do. Maybe if they did something like play baseball or football they would understand the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, but they just dive around in big trucks dippin Skoal and acting stupid. That is the only explination I have for it.
  9. There's a bump in the road, it's called Harpeth. Never count your chickens before they hatch, or you runs before they cross the plate!
  10. I was at the game and I heard negative comments from Milan fans after our 2nd baseman made a bad throw. I am sorry our fans acted the way they did, I was standing there when they said what they said and Alan Collins, The Athletic Director stopped them as soon as he heard them. They were kids, don't let the actions of a few give you the opinion that we are all this way. I take your fan I heard as just one person and I don't group you all with him. Maybe someday we can all go to a game and never hear anything negative from anyone.
  11. Well what do you think about Harpeth now. They may not win another game, but they made all of the people on coach t take notice. We are talking about young men who at most have 12 or 13 years of baseball under their belts, anything can happen. I will say one thing about Harpeth, they have the finest two Seniors who have taken the underclassmen under their wing and made the Freshmen feel just as much a part of this team as anyone else. This is a team that plays hard, wins together, loses together, and takes one game at a time and gives 125% everytime they hit the field. The bad news for everybody else in baseball land, they will lose two good ball players but only two, watch out in 06.
  12. If my High School baseball team was the defending state champions and I knew they could possibly reach the playoffs the next year, I would have made graduation on Saturday. That gives everybody all day to get ready and no chance of having a school function interfere with the graduation. Maybe the Milan administration should have had more forethought in scheduling the graduation. Great game, Milan has a class act team, the best of luck to your team next year.
  13. YOUR MORALS ALWAYS NEED TO BE BOOSTED, IT HELPS THE TEAMS MORALE!

    Region 5-AA

I was there the night that Sycamore found out about their teammate, after the game was over......Sycamore won that night but it didn't matter to them that they had WON......their focus was on their teammate who was sick, and they wanted him to get better and back to "playing" the game that he loved, as well! Sycamore and Harpeth have played with extreme class this year! My hats off to them.....some other schools in our district have NOT! Good luck to everyone! Let's hope that all four teams have fun, play well and go home safe!

    Region 5-AA

You know, I've been reading all the posts here regarding the outcome of the Region 5AA tournament. It's pretty sad to see all of you throwing out your numbers and stats and predictions, this pitching staff for this school is more dominate than that school, he's got a better curve ball than the other pitcher. You all sound like a bunch of small children fussing over who has the most candy. The bottom line is this......all four of these schools, Harpeth, Sycamore, Giles County and Loretto are awesome teams and are "on their game" or they wouldn't be playing in the regional tournament in the first place. They ALL have had good pitching games, good hitting games or they wouldn't be here in the first place! No one knows who's going to win or lose...the competition here between these four schools is tough and it's anyone's guess who will come out on top. Let's keep something in perspective.....all four teams will play their hardest and best....someone will win and someone will lose........we can't predict that. I hope they play well and excel in all areas (hitting, pitching, fielding, and especially sportsmanship)! We have played schools this year whose sportsmanship left something to be desired, parents of those players were rude, obnoxious and very disrespectful to the visiting team. In Cheatham County, a young player may never play the game again due to a brain aneurysm. In Coffee County, two young players suffered serious injuries during the game. Other schools have had serious injuries. I hope these four teams go out there and play their best and be proud of themselves no matter what side of "champion" they fall on and I hope they all go home safe and healthy! That is what is really important here!
  16. Your right he will have them in the weight room and then the other coaches will be telling the boys they need to go to GNC and get all of this Protien mix and do all of this stuff that puts them on the road to using things like steroids and God only knows what else. Then when the season is about to start they will bring in a doctor from Vanderbilt who will tell the kids and parents that they shouldn't be taking supplements because the medical field doesn't fully understand the effects of these things long term, but who cares he needs them to perform for only 4 years, after that who cares. I wish the Harpeth players only the best but I don't think the coaches have the boy's best intrest at heart, you know it's an ego thing.
  17. It doesn't matter because Harpeth will have trouble winning with the Head Coach they have, he can't communicate with players and will continue to lose them. The school administration lacks the guts to put coaches in their place when it comes to the way they talk and the way they treat players. I will have to say that since all of this has come to light, the coaches halos are shinning brighter than ever, but if you don't keep them polished they will turn again, it's only a matter of time.
  18. It's a shame that you don't know what the REAL story is.....these kids made this decision on their own.....they came to the parents for direction....parents told them what was at stake and the possibility of not playing this year was a factor....these kids felt strong enough about their reasons for striking that they were willing to take that risk....to try to make things better for them, their teammates and every future athlete that plays sports in Cheatham County..... that is the REAL story.....so now YOU know!
