  1. CoachT District 14AAA tournament at Raleigh Egypt doesn't show on the scoreboard for me to put in final scores. The tournament brackets and results are as follows: Boys (Quarterfinals) Saturday 21st #4 Cordova 51 #5 Arlington 41 #2 Craigmont 75 #7 Bartlett 36 #3 Bolton 49 #6 Millington 48 Semifinals On Monday 2/23 (7:30) #1 Raleigh Egypt #4 Cordova On Tuesday 2/24 (7:30) #2 Craigmont #3 Bolton Consolation Thursday 2/26 6:00 Championship Thursday 2/26 7:30 If it is ok...I will put the girls brackets and results here. Girls Quarterfinals Saturday 21st #4 Bolton 53 #5 Cordova 55 #2 Bartlett 63 #7 Ral-Egypt 35 #3 Arlington 76 #6 Craigmont 60 Semifinals Monday 2/23 6:00 #1 Millington #5 Cordova Tuesday 2/24 6:00 #2 Bartlett #3 Arlington Consolation Wed. 2/25 6:00 Championship Wed. 2/25 7:30
  2. mtownballer you left off the Memphis Central team of 1981 that won the AA championship. The only school to win back to back state championships in two different classifications. oops, my bad...you were only listing AAA teams. The AA list would also be impressive as well as A from Memphis.
  3. Hines had a great night shooting the ball against Craigmont and is very talented. He is a bit streaky, but can beat you in so many ways. Anthony Jones is a 6'4" wing who is extremely talented and can score in bunches in a variety of different ways. Can take you off the dribble, pull up and hit the mid range jumper, or hit the three. Is mid-arm above the rim and leads the Pharaohs in both scoring and rebounding. The quick guard you are referring to is Jeremy "Poohman" Holmes. He is a two year starter who is like a bullet on offense and defense. He's averaging double digits in assists and is close in steals. RE's zone busting shooters come off the bench. Cedric Bee and Jeremy Whitmore are deep three threats and Rashad Harris and Brandon Roberts are also solid shooters. The inside players you were referring to Terop are Ronald "Tank" Brown who is a 6'5" junior and a three year starter for RE, and Joe Brady, a 6'5" senior. Both play hard and can rebound and score. RE is not big but makes up for it in hustle and athleticism. RE can be great on some nights and very beatable on others so it will come down to how hard they are willing to play in the tournament to get out.
  4. In a hard fought battle between two of the state's top five teams, Raleigh Egypt avenged an earlier 2 point loss by beating Craigmont 74-64. This win gives Raleigh Egypt the regular season district title for the sixth straight year and qualifies the Pharaohs to play Central in the Memphis city championship on Feb. 19th at White Station High School.
  5. This is what is wrong with our society today...people who want to violate the morality of our society with the attitude "if you don't like it leave" are wrong. If you want to disrespect everyone around you...you leave! Same is true in many of the once quiet, family friendly neighborhoods in Memphis where now thugs speed up and down the streets with their music blaring, drug dealers have moved into the vacant house down the street, prostitutes begin to walk the neighborhood, etc. Their attitude is if you don't like it leave. WHY DO MORAL, CHRISTIAN, DECENT CITIZENS ALWAYS HAVE TO BE THE ONES TO LEAVE???
  6. Good game. Lotsa hustle by both teams. Liberty had a few more guns and JCM had no answer for liberty's #4. Was fun to watch the point guards go at it. Wow what quickness!
  7. I agree with you on White Station. Although they are getting better, and may be the team to beat by tournament...they have 5 losses. Don't know much about Walker Valley or Columbia, but they do have a better record.
  8. I guess because Cordova (unranked) and single A Manassas beat them.
  9. Sorry terop thought the thread said JCM-Liberty score. The schedule shows that they played on Dec. 16th and there is no score posted for that game. Do you know how that game turned out?
  10. This score is still not posted. If you know how many points and rebounds Prather had...then what was the final score?
  11. Things have really heated up in Region 7AAA since the AP polls came out. Four of the top eight AAA teams are in 7AAA. On top of that...Cordova who is a spoiler in district 14, beat Craigmont last night. Ral-Egypt 1 Liberty 4 Craigmont 5 JCM 8 Four of Region 8AAA teams were also state ranked. Ridgeway 6 White Station 9 Melrose 10 Germantown others receiving votes Tell me getting out of this substate won't be a dogfight! Pick your poison, once you get to the region semis you have to beat state ranked teams the rest of the way just to get out.
  12. No AAA team wants to draw Southwind or Liberty in the tournaments. They both play hard, are getting better as time goes on, and are well coached. Melrose is going to be a tough out in the tournaments as well as Germantown. There are some other spoilers out there such as Central, Wooddale and Kirby so there's no guarantee that anyone will get out this year. The Favorites are probably Ral-Egypt, Ridgeway, Craigmont and White Station, but any of these four can be upset by Southwind, Liberty or Melrose.
  13. I recognize that the strength rankings on CoachT are limited because of the lack of time required to research every team in Tennessee's out-of-state opponents. Having said that...I don't feel a team should be penalized in the rankings because they choose to play in Quality tournaments and against quality opponents out of state to enhance their schedule for national consideration. Ten of Raleigh Egypts' opponents this year are from out of state and thus are eliminated from consideration in strength of schedule while other Tennessee teams only play teams from in-state. Ral-Egypt's schedule includes victories against the following teams and their current records: Mississippi; Olive Branch 14-1 Oxford 11-3 Horn Lake 11-5 Alabama; Madison Academy 13-3 Bob Jones 12-5 lost game by 3, only loss Hunts. Lee 9-4 Georgia; Westlake 8-2 Redan 7-2 Stephenson 6-4 Kentucky; Christian CO 7-3 The only games on Ral-Egypt's record that count in the ratings are the five victories vs Memphis teams. Ridgeway 13-3 White Station 11-4 Kirby 12-5 Wooddale 6-6 Overton 0-8 The strength rankings are obviously flawed in the case of Ral-Egypt and several other teams I suppose. It's fun to try to rank teams on various criteria, but so much is omitted from this poll that it presents such a skewed picture.
  14. There are a lot of posters on here from middle and east tennessee but very few from the Memphis area. Region 7AAA is so under posted it's pathetic. Come on folks lets get the posts on here for these teams. As usual, Raleigh Egypt and Craigmont look to be the favorites in District 14AAA thus far with both teams having only one loss. Liberty and Jackson CM are the favorites in 13AAA. Don't overlook Bolton, and Cordova has the talent to make a run. If things go as they are...one of the three: Raleigh Egypt, Craigmont, or Liberty won't make it out. District championship games will mean more this year than in the past cause two of these three will have to meet in the regional semi-final game. The substate for the regional champ and runner-up will be against Region 8AAA which could be: Ridgeway, White Station, Melrose, Southwind, Central, Germantown, Kirby, Hamilton, Wooddale...all of which have a chance to get to the region finals in 8AAA. Lots of exciting basketball!
  15. Raleigh Egypt has only one 6'5" in the starting lineup and is 11-1 and ranked #5 in the southeastern United States. Now that is stout!
  16. Raleigh Egypt was top twenty in Prep nation and in top twenty five USA Today in 2006-07.
  17. Raleigh Egypt defeated Christian County KY by a score of 87-53. The Pharaohs completely dominated the Colonels in every category, and 14 different Pharaohs scored.
  18. Raleigh Egypt has won this tournament 4 times and finished 2nd twice out of seven years.
  19. Maybe you didn't understand...those wins WERE on the road at Ridgeway and White Station! Don't believe you can get two bigger opponents than defending state champion and defending state runner-up?
  20. Okay guys...what do you say now? Ridgeway and White Station, back-to-back, on their floors, in front of packed houses, and beat both by double digits. No Props? More than just Brown and Hines. Anthony "AJ" Jones, Reggie Fondren, Jeremy Holmes, Rashad Harris, Joe Brady. Not household names just yet. Long season ahead with several strong out-of-town opponents will eventually tell the tale on this team but for right now looks pretty good!
  21. After beating State Champion Ridgeway Friday night on their home floor by a score of 76-65, Ral-Egypt defeats state runner-up White Station on their home floor by a score of 83-72 on Saturday night. Heckova way to start a season. For those doubters out there...Ral-Egypt is for real.
  22. Raleigh Egypt defeated Ridgeway at Ridgeway tonight by a score of 76-65. Big game and well played by both teams. Ral-Egypt takes on White Station tomorrow night at White Station.
  23. Legend How did the other scrimmages look to you on Saturday? Who was there and how did they look? Glad to know Arlington is still building. Thought they would be better this year.
  24. The Bartlett basketball program flourished under Hubie Smith a few years back but several factore led to that success. First, Bartlett was one of the top five schools in the state in enrollment, constantly over 2000 students. They have dropped to 1400 and some students are now attending Arlington and Bolton. Second, Hubie was an exceptional coach who grew up in a basketball home and was a great player himself. He knew X's and O's and could teach and motivate his players. He had them believing in themselves and many overachieved. His teams were always well disciplined and knew how to win. Third, Hubie ran summer camps and had huge numbers of young kids that grew up in his program. Fourth, The district and regional make-up was different then. Bartlett dominated the county schools but didn't schedule too many city schools. Fifth, Hubie's assistant was John Harrington who has gone on to a highly successful career at Briarcrest H.S. John was a great help to Hubie on the bench and in player development. The next coaches couldn't duplicate the magic that Hubie had brought to the program and took a few steps backward. Maybe they can recapture it with a good young class having a solid season and begin to rebuild on that.
