  1. 2 great team from Fentress Co. this season. Big crowd for a scrimmage!!! Brown looked good today...as usual. The young Clarkrange players looked great. A lot of fine tuning left to do before the season starts.
  2. Sorry, I did not mean anything negative by that..just that they reload every year...especially lately. I saw their middle school group last season..that was what I meant. They did have some new guys last year..what's negative about that?????
  3. I agree, but I stick with what I said earlier...sometimes the "unknown" is more dangerous than a mature talented team you know everything about. What we all do know is that their feeder program is excellent and they have some great athletes on their team.
  4. Sorry, point well taken. I should not have brought it up. I'd just appreciate it if people would quit doggin' coaches. I don't see what good it does.
  5. No, just one.... Thanks for the info bball mom!
  6. Who will start at Pickett? Any new faces? They lost a lot.... What a bout Jackson Co....they made alot of noise at the end of last year..Can they carry that over? Any new faces?
  7. I was really impressed with two things from Clay Co. last year. I thought they had excellent guard play..especially against Clarkrange, whom I thought would dominate them in this area. They have most of this group back. The second thing was the poise of Coach Smith. I thought coaching would be a weak area for them, but she was very mature for a rookie coach. I thought she had control over the team, and they developed into a better team thoughout the year.
  8. Phillips at Clarkrange will be a big lift this year for the Lady Buffaloes. She has Miss Basketball potential by her Sr. year. Now they'll have two big girls inside. They have a few other Freshmen that will see alot of playing time. Hanna Green is a great player(her sister is Jr.- Jessica Green). She is a good ball handler..very smart and mature for her age. It will be fun seeing her play with her sis..they should have great chemistry. Serena Snow(sister of former Lady Buff Michelle Snow) will also help on the block. She is also 6ft+, she has a much different style than Michelle did. She's still growing! Coach will make a great player out of her...she's done great this summer. Tori Lowe is another sharp rookie...I have always liked her grit. She has great work ethic..is extremely smart..and a good ball handler. I may be leaving someone out. We lost another Freshmen to Crossville, but this is still a good group...as good as we've ever had at CHS. Also, there is a great 8th grader at S. Fentress..Reed..who will come up next year. She is a post player that can play anywhere on the floor.
  9. Alot of times teams that you know nothing about can sneak up on you. Everything is different at Oz (As they seem to call it- which is cool). Who will coach them? I hear they will bring a big croud?? I saw some of their younger players come in last year and they looked pretty good. Clarkrange is taking this game very seriously..it's a big matchup to start the year...just like it was last year.
  10. Who are the top returners this season? top new faces? top matchups? Who is primed to take the district title?MVP? I hear Clay Co. again has some new faces??? Clay has to be the favorite. I will never belittle Pickett Co. They'll be in the mix. Clarkrange has some good looking players and a tough non-district schedule will help them. RBS lost Meador....can they survive? Jackson Co. will be very competetive in Single A. (All this trash about the coaches is crazy...so show some respect and keep a lid on it if you don't like someone's coaching style....if you could do better...then get your teaching certificate and apply. please don't turn this into a negative thread about guys who work hard for these kids)
  11. Alot of people say that this is gonna tell us a lot about how the season is gonna go, but I ain't never seen a Nov game dictate the remainder of the year. I could be wrong. This will be a new look Lady Bobcat team against a veteran Lady Buffalo squad...a March type atmosphere....and a packed house. What do you guys think about this one?
  12. Funny that you'd bring that up, but everyone has their problems... I don't think there is any major off court problems and if there were..they'lll work themselves out...i hate for anyone to get an impression that we have "major" problems..we don't. This is a mature group. They know how to take care of business and each other. I actually think they are so close..they have"family" like clashes. Should be a great year. Yeah Devil, you can stir them up all right..I just disagree that things are gonna be a cake walk. I do agree that the loss of Chatt Christian in the opposing sub-state region will make things easier. We have middle school teams on the plateau that could have beat Boyd last year. There may be some new teams or players that I don;t know about. Girls basketball is just different up here.
  13. What an active thread. Devil you really can get 'em going and I always enjoy hearing whats going on at RBS from the "swan"ie of 7A! Clarkrange's Chelsey Brown (last years freshman of the year)moved to Cumberland Co. She will be missed. She is a great player and should have a great future. Clarkrange is as loaded as ever despite this change in their line up. They're tall, they have great guard play, 4 seniors and alot of youth, they're very deep. They should be very good this season. Jackson Co is much the same. THESE TWO TEAMS MIRROR EACH OTHER. They're bigger than Clarkrange, but Clarkrange can handle the ball better I think. Jackson Co. has the pre-season edge because they beat us twice last year. (Man I hate saying that...... the truth hurts). Who is the new player that moved in to Jackson Co.....where is she from...I hear she will take Kelly's spot???? Here is what i would like to know..who are the top players from each team? and why might they be an all district selection? Dish it out I need the info.... I do not think Clarkrange and Jackson Co. will run away with this district. No one is saying much about Clay Co...and they'll be good this year. Watson is a leader and they have some great guards. RBS is much the same..they only lost one from last year, they'll be in the mix. Monterey will be decent...HS will probably struggle.
  14. Chumney's name has changed?? Should be great for distrcting scouters!! Did she get adopted?married? She is a great young lady from what I have seen on the floor. Her opponents love her..she has great sportsmanship. Where did she sign to play? I was hoping she might go to MTSU with Brown! This district is such a toss-up. The top four are very evenly matched. The #1 seed could go in to the tourney with as many as three losses?!?
  15. Be careful Devil...those of us who have had to play 8A in tournaments know how tough their teams can be..and the games will be in Watertown this year. I really think Watertown may contest Westmoreland. Westmoreland will be affected with the loss of Benson inside..she was a great player and appeared to be a great leader. Watertown continues to get better. (I enjoyed the article in the Tennessean on Waterown the other day...I hope they keep their school...Watertown is a great little city.) I agree that Thomas of Gordonsville may be the best in the district this year. Gordonsville is capable of beating anyone in the region. Is this the first year of bassketball for Merryl Hyde? Where are they located..etc? Who are the top players from each team in this district (potential first or second teamers)and why?
  16. Alot of people in Pickett Co. seem to be down on the bobcats..they think they'll have a bad year. Their young guys looked real tough last year and I think they will be a real contender. Clay Co. certainly appears to have the edge. They have almost everything back from last year, and they continue to attract tallent. RBS will hurt without Meador. Monterey is slowly getting back to par. Clarkrange will likely surprise some teams. Jackson Co. boys will greatly benefit from reclassification. I have no clue as to what is going on in 7AA. Anyone know? York should be pretty tough. Their fortunes will depend on how well their guards develop throughout the year. 7AA boys is always UNPREDICTABLE! Clarkrange's schedule is on their website..check it out Clarkrange Basketball

This Clarkrange and Jackson Co. thing will go on all year. They should have some close, tough ballgames for sure. I am anxious to see how JC adapts to Single A ball..it is different...I think they will have new challenges. What's the word out of Smith Co....they'll have an all star group this year...but everyone is being kinda quite about them. Who are the top players from each district this year? Potenial all conference? Name 'em..
  18. good to hear from a Ranger fan... Hey Unaka..will Unaka make any Middle Tennessee appearances this season? Can anyone in the East beat Oliver Springs? Is the departure of Todd Wright install a lot of hope for everyone? He did an excellent job, but they still have alot of tallent. I personally think they'll be challenged within their own district. Whats the latest out of Gleason, Trenton, and Dresden..etc? Will Westmoreland be tough again? They seem to reload each year. Who will reign in Chattanooga now that Chatt. Christian is AA? Alot of questions...huh? Too early for me to pick anyone for state...alot can happen!

What's the word out of Celina this pre-season? They still have the big girl inside (Watson?). They should be pretty good. Their guards played well last year...Turner, etc.
  20. what happened to Griffin at Roane? She seemed like a nice lady.

Clarkrange's schedule is posted on their website Clarkrange Basketball Looks pretty tough...out of district opponents include Cumberland Co., Oneida, White Co. and Knox Powell(at Crossville). A trip to Upperman and a holiday trip to Nissan country. Should be a interesting season.
  22. 4 Great seniors..alot of depth..talented freshmen. They'll miss the transfers...but they'll be tough this year...the last 49 seconds of last season should fuel them!
  23. Anyone got their schedules yet. I have seen Cumberland Co's on another thread. Are they playing the Mid South Tourney again this year? Uppermna, JC, and Cookeville did a great job with it last year.
  24. Pickett Co. had started a footbal team(the past 2 years I think), but i have not heard anything about it this year. Do they not have a team anymore?
  25. I agree that Smith Co. is the team to beat. I don't know anything about Westmoreland. York will be tough again this year. Jackson Co. has some pretty good athletes coming up, but they'll still struggle. Should be a great year. York plays at Bledsoe Co. regular season. They did not have much trouble with Sequatchie or Bledsoe last year. I hear that Boyd has a good program and there is a lot of tradition in Marion Co. My Region picks... 1. Smith Co. 2. York 3. Westmoreland 4. Upperman 5. Cannon Co. 6. Jackson Co.
