  1. Since BT is such a great place to play, that may play into the reason there is only one field in Morristown (I was not living here when that decision was made so I really do not know). The middle schools love playing at the high school field and the stands on both sides are very accomodating (look especially at the visitor's side -- most schools have postage stamp size visitor's stands, BT is huge by comparison to most schools). Hopefully, the council will pull the strings, get the turf and allow us to have the field we should have. If we are going to have only one, then it needs to be the best surface to take the amount of games that are played there. BTW -- during the MoWest vs KnoxWest game, the announcers said that BT was more like a small college field than a high school field due to the atmosphere in the stadium. All good seats on both sides with a great view of the action. Everyone in Morristown needs to push for the turf. If affects all of the football players (6th grade and up) in town and the boys' soccer teams.
  2. The way it works-- if West wins they will host no matter who wins the other games. If TH and East win, then TH will host. If TH and SS win then SS will host due to their number one seed in region 1.
  3. Here is the record and points break down: Region 1 Tennessee High 9-2 OR 59-52 PF 332 (30.2 PPG AVG) PA 122 (11.1 PPG AVG) Region 2 Morristown West 11-0 OR 56-61 PF 431 (39.2 PPG AVG) PA 106 (9.6 PPG AVG) AN UNNAMED WEB SITE PRDICTS THE SCORE TO BE: MOWEST 28 TH 17 Common Opponents Morristown West and Tennessee High Volunteer West 43 – 0 TH 35 – 13 Unicoi County West 41 – 0 TH 55 – 0 These teams are very evenly matched. The game will be decided by who makes the least mistakes. That being said I believe MoWest will make the least mistakes and win the game. The predicted score will be very close to the actual score at the end of the game. The Trojans know that they cannot overlook TH, nor will the team be overconfident. The team has played one game at a time all year and will continue to do so on Friday. There is only one opponent on their mind and it is TH.
  4. Here is the record and points break down: Region 1 Sullivan South 10-1 Opponents Record 56-55 Points For 323 (29.4 PPG AVG) Points Against 125 (11.4 PPG AVG) Region 2 Morristown East 8-3 OR 59-52 PF 325 (29.5 PPG AVG) PA 201 (18.3 PPG AVG) AN UNNAMED WEB SITE PREDICTS THE SCORE TO BE: SS 28 EAST 21 Common Opponents Morristown East and Sullivan South Greeneville East 28 – 23 SS 28 – 21 Daniel Boone East 28 – 7 SS 49 – 6 Johnson Co East 17 – 14 SS 14 – 10 That being said, the strength of East is their running game and speed. It is a yardage and clock eating offense. If SS is not able to get a stop or two they will lose this game (the clock will click away while they are on defense). On the other hand, the strength of SS is their passing game. This is potentially an offense that will make huge gains and score a ton of points extremely quickly, but normally does not use much clock. If East's past defense is as weak as some East fans have stated then the above predition will prove true. I believe SS will win, but since it is Morristown East, I am pulling for them.

  6. Here is Johnson Co's web site -- shows the last few years games: www.jchs.k12tn.net/jchsfootball/jchsfootballhistory.htm. Here is another one you might find interesting: http://www.mtnlakesfootball.com/
  7. There are no guarantees that West will even play Maryville. Much too early to talk about that matchup.
  8. Had it down on my notes as 9-1, but had a senior moment while typing.
  9. Here is the record and points break down of the playoff teams in both regions: Region 1 Sullivan South 9-1 teams they played 49-51 Points For 284 Points Against 119 Tennessee High 8-2 teams 53-46 PF 297 PA 109 Johnson Co 8-2 teams 52-48 PF 248 PA 129 Unicoi Co 4-6 teams 56-44 PF 158 PA 279 Region 2 MoWest 10-0 teams 46-54 PF 390 PA 106 East 7-3 teams 51-59 PF 308 PA 187 Volunteer 5-5 teams 46-54 PF 180 PA 245 Boone 7-3 teams 46-54 PF 229 PA 170 The teams in both regions look very close to me. The top teams in both regions should win the first round (should does not mean will, however). KnoxWest seems like the tougher team to me.
  10. Here is the record and points break down of the playoff teams in both regions: Region 1 Sullivan South 10-0 teams they played 49-51 Points For 284 Points Against 119 Tennessee High 8-2 teams 53-46 PF 297 PA 109 Johnson Co 8-2 teams 52-48 PF 248 PA 129 Unicoi Co 4-6 teams 56-44 PF 158 PA 279 Region 2 MoWest 10-0 teams 46-54 PF 390 PA 106 East 7-3 teams 51-59 PF 308 PA 187 Volunteer 5-5 teams 46-54 PF 180 PA 245 Boone 7-3 teams 46-54 PF 229 PA 170 The teams in both regions look very close to me. I do not see any more weakness in region 1 than region 2. The top teams in both regions should win the first round (should does not mean will, however).
  11. The past three years East has lost in the first round to a team "from that region". Don't be counting your chickens until they are hatched. East has a wonderful opportunity to win, but Johnson Co is not going to lay down. However, you need to show some respect to your opponent.
  12. Another web site predicts the score to be ME 26 JC 21. I feel it will be at least this close, if not closer.
  13. Thanks!! I appreciate the information.
  14. I really do not see Boone winning this one. Since they played Cocke County and won a close one they have not been the same team. I am not sure what has gotten in their head, but it has affected them since that game. I was certain there was no way they would loose to Volunteer and expected a shoot out versus East. If they can find a way to crank their offense up, then they have a chance, but they need to do what they started the season doing to be successful in this game. Since they are Region 2 I am pulling for them, but based on recent weeks do not expect them to pull it out.
  15. Do you have Morristown East's record for the same period? Or tell me where you went to compile the W/L records. Just wondering.
  16. If you are saying that would be the biggest upset you are correct (followed closely by Unicoi beating MoWest). If you are predicting either of those, then I would have to say, you are wrong. Unicoi has a much greater chance of beating MoWest then Branierd would ever have of beating Maryville (I am a MoWest fan, but have a ton of respect for Maryville). I do not see anyone beating Maryville this year -- too much of a machine in Blount County...firing on all cylinders...and not missing a beat. I do hope we get a chance to play Maryville, but there is too much football to even predict that at this time.
  17. There is no doubt that East is fast, but I do not know if Johnson Co has not played a fast team. Sullivan South and Tennessee High are both pretty fast historically, but I have not seen them this year. If Johnson Co plays sound football and the players on defense play their position and stay in their lanes they do have a chance to win. However, the East offense is full of misdirection and many options. Every play looks the same and the ball is very easy to loose (up in the stands), so I am sure it is even worse on the field. If the Johnson Co defense bites too early, East's speed will leave them in the dust (or should I say mud). On the other hand, if the Johnson Co defense plays their position and makes East have long third downs they have a chance. The points per game for each team is fairly close on both sides of the ball: East averages 30.8 ppg while giving up 18.7 ppg, Johnson Co averages 24.8 ppg while giving up 12.9 ppg. East strength is their running game and that will eat up too much clock if it is not stopped. I do not see Johnson Co getting enough stops. That being said, I believe it will be a close game with East getting the win.
  18. Mr. Wild, a personal friend of mine, is a dedicated booster of West. This is mostly due to the fact that he is an alumnus of West. He has been a part of the booster community at the school for a number of years, even before his children were at the school. The suggestion that our coaching staff can be bought for playing time is very upsetting to me and a new low even for an East fan. I hope that most of East has too much class to be part of your delusion, but I guess we will really never know the answer to that, will we? As for West, we appreciate the time and effort given by all of our Boosters and would never dream of singling one out of the bunch. We are a team from the field to the stands and have proven it between the hashes as a friend told me the other night. All I can say is good luck to East. Perhaps the saying one and done will not apply this year.
  19. The field is bad and mud is tough to play on, but a muddy field does not necessarily mean there will be more injuries. The players will be concentrating on their footing and will not be able to get set for the hard hit. The plastic may help some, but they should have covered the entire field and not just between the hashes. I guess the decision should have been to play last night instead of waiting for tonight (last night would have been a perfect night for football). I know that would have changed the game week, but it would have been better than playing tonight. The only positive is both teams have to put up with the field. Advantage no one. Good luck to both teams and hopefully no one will get hurt. For once I am glad West is playing away tonight (Cocke Co's field is said to be pristine, but with all this rain I doubt it).
  20. An unnamed rival website predicts the score to be ME 28 -- Boone 21.
  21. Using your logic, then our baseball team should win state the next two years (since we won it as 12 year olds). However, things change and players do not always develop as you think they will. There is no way to prove or disprove your point except on the field in the future. There is no doubt that there are many talented athletes at East and more on their way, but talent is not all there is to winning. Coach Woods and the coaching staff at West have alot of experience and are able to motivate our less talented players to win.
  22. I don't think anyone mentioned MV and no I do not think we can take MV, but I know East cannot either.
  23. The only thing we have to say is 45-24. That says it all.
  24. I bet everyone at Boone is hoping all the Canes think they are overrated.
  25. If East beats Boone and Volunteer beats Cherokee, Volunteer will be the 3rd place team since they beat Boone (both will have 4-3 records, but due to the head-to-head Volunteer will be ranked higher). If Boone beats East and Volunteer beats Cherokee, then Volunteer will be the 4th place team. No matter who wins the Boone/East game, if Cherokee wins they will be the 4th place team.
