Yes, it's me...my alter ego. Basically a chance to see what people really think. Without thinking they were talking to me. My response earlier was not an attempt to brag, however, an attempt to defend the fact that while there are some who don't think my dealing with the boys was handled well, we had a level of success with the way I was running things. I was not dismissed from the position. As a matter of fact, I had to practically beg to step down. I stepped down this year so I could obtain my masters degree and spend more time with my son who is a swimmer. (He is a junior this year and I have not gotten to see him swim. Same seasons). I still love this sport, and I wish the Bulldogs the best. All I am saying is that I am gone now, and if you didn't agree with what I did, then move on. But please don't put down what I did while coaching. The alter ego has been used for several years and was used mainly to fuel up my wrestlers to get them fired up and it worked. Congrats to all Rutherford County Wrestlers who qualified for the State Tournament this weekend. Congratulations especially to Oakland for their first region championship!! Coach Richey, you are doing a great job over there. Also Congratulations to Blackman, region 5 runner up. Coach Levi and Hamm, you guys are creating a gold mine over there. Way to go. From what I understand, this is the most guys Rutherford County has ever sent in wrestling. Oakland - 8 Smyrna - 6 Blackman - 6 Lavergne - 5 Riverdale - 4 Siegel - 3 I think that is the correct breakdown. Coach Gonyea

I can't honestly say I know who you are...but Smyrna shouldn't be taking an elitist snob attitude. We came from very poor roots in the sport a few years back when we were only wrestling Rutherford County teams and we were happy for every win we got. I am very happy that Coach Richie has taken such a strong interest in redevoloping the Oakland team. You, watch, in a couple more years, Oakland will be one of the teams in Rutherford County to beat. And correct me if I am wrong, but Oakland sent some guys to state last year and even medaled. How many did we send? We have nothing to be snobby about. Good Luck Oakland...Keep up your winning ways. Okay, I have been looking at a few of the schedules of teams competing this weekend. It looks like Oakland and Riverdale are competing both Thursday and Friday before the duals. Does this mean everyone will get 2lbs for Saturday. Also...Congrats to Adam Smotherman for being named 5A Mr. Football lineman of the year. He is an awesome heavyweight also. You are absolutely right. At 35 I am pushing the envelope of death... As far as Smyrna goes, don't think about us when you think about the top teams in the region. We'll be okay, but not the top. I still say Hendersonville and Mt. Juliet will take the top prize. But I do know enough about Lavergne, to know that they will at least challenge the top two. Lavergne is going to be good this year. Thanks for the vote of confidence. But don't count us in the mix right yet. We still have a long season to wrestle, and injuries are still possible. We sent no one to state last year, so this may be a pretty tough year.

That was Adam Dedmon. One of the three triplets I have. Brian and Pher though lost no matches. Adam was winning most of that match until one bad tilt put him towards his back(He was wrestling Heacock). Also, Adam had to have his whole right hand taped and his thumb isolated due to a cut thumb tip. That limited mobility really handicapped him, but he handled Heacock very well.

Kyle Frazier from Smyrna was wearing a red singlet. He went 3-0 on Saturday. Smyrna's Varsity did very well. We went 31-6. Three of the losses came from our brand new JV wrestler at 171 who filled that spot for our varsity wrestler who was wrapping up his football season. (I just looked at the results and I see two errors already. Josh Bradford only lost one match while Brian Dedmon lost none.) It was a fun day. Brad, you did a great job. Coach Gonyea

Kudos to Tullahoma, this was a well run pre-season tourney. All of our guys got at least 3 matches and we were out by 5:00. My family appreciated me being home before 7:00 on a tournament day. Let the season begin.
