  1. ihavenofriendz, please keep picking Lenoir City to lose. It seems to be helping them pull the upsets. LC wins 65- 57 in a good ball game.
  2. I suppose that it would be easy to confuse freikin with fn from the stands. I do apologize for the misunderstanding. He is a very intense coach and those little guys have a tendency to frustrate opposing coaches and players. I did see that Micah did not play tonight for the govs which does lead me to believe that he must be quite ill. I'm sure knowing what I know about his ability that he would have given anything to be out there helping his team. It was a good game and very entertaining to watch. Congrats to the Panthers on the big district win. I'm sure the govs will come back strong because from what I've seen Coach Baumann does a great job. Again, I do apologize for the misunderstanding and I retract my statement about the profanity. As for the runt comment...They are kind of small but they sure can play.
  3. When you print them and hand them to him, ask him about calling the LC boys runts and during one of his many tantrums in a time out how he can make a statement such as "they are this fn tall" as he held his hand up to his waist. I also would like to say that I think Micah Ballard is a great player and from what I have heard an even better person. If he was sick, he was sick and that would explain why last night LC had 3-4 players that to this observer were better. As you stated I am entitled to my own opinion. As for the varsity game tonight. Best of luck to both teams. It should be a solid matchup with either team being able to get the win.
  4. Sorry about the Baumann comment. I was under the impression that the freshmen coach was also named Baumann. I thought they were brothers. As for Ballard only playing 5-8 minutes that is not true. He played 5-8 minutes in the first quarter. No, he is not as good as Hood. Not even close really. Hood is averaging 7 pts, 7bds, and 3 blocks while shooting 55% from the floor in varsity games this year. The Powers kid took the ball away from him 3 times in the first half alone. I know Micah is a great player, but in my opinion, Powers is better, Hood is better, Moore is better and Park is as good or better. That's not even including the post named Titlow that scored 22 last night or the other post that is serving a 2 game suspension for getting into a scuffle with Catholic. Lenoir City freshmen basketball is for real this year and hopefully it will be the foundation for the future. I'm not saying that this group of freshmen will dominate this league because they are small, but they could be something really special if they continue working as hard as the coaches say they do.
  5. I don't doubt that Micah Ballard is good. I will say that based on what I saw, Lenoir City had at least 3 players that were as good if not better than him. Lenoir City, playing short handed beat William Blount tonight 76-52. They beat them in every aspect of the game. Tyler Hood, Tyler Thomas, and Caleb Mabry didn't even play. All of which are capable of starting. At times Lenoir City had three guards on the floor that are all smaller than 5'3 and they ran circles around the Govs. Coach Baumann really should be careful what he says about his opposition. I heard him make reference to how small the Panthers were on more than one occasion. Calling them "runts"...I'm glad Lenoir City has a coaching staff that treats their players and the opposition with respect. William Blount shouldn't feel bad though. That is the closest game Lenoir City has had this year. They have beaten Oak Ridge, Loudon, Catholic, Karns and Farragut by an average margin of 30 points per game. They are averaging around 80.
  6. Did all of Clintons players play against Lenoir City? Just wondering if they are all back?
  7. Lenoir City opens district play tonight at Sevier County...Anyone have any thoughts? I think Lenoir City and Sevier are evenly matched and this should be a great game.
  8. How can you say Bearden is a lock for 3rd? They have wins over Unaka, Morristown East and Red Bank. That wouldn't exactly be a strong trio of victories. They lost to Greeneville, and a weaker that usual Shelbyville team. I honestly could see Bearden finishing as low as 6th in this league. South Doyle, Sevier, William Blount, and Lenoir City are all capable of beating them.
  9. What is thuggish looking? Is it because the majority of their players are African American? That is an absurd statement. I know coach Rudesil from Bolivar, and he has some of the nicest young men you'll ever meet playing for him. Dexter Williams from Liberty is a great coach and from what I have seen from him is an even better person. Stop stereotyping athletes by their color or where they are from. East Tennessee mountain boy hillbillies are as thuggish as any players that I have ever seen but you don't see them being labeled. I hope at some point in my life time that people will stop looking at a particular culture with such negativity. One thing that is for sure...Ignorance has at least become the minority in society but it will always be there.
  10. I think one and two are a lock with Maryville having a slight edge over Farragut because Eldridge is alot better coach than Dodgen. As for the rest of the league...It is pretty much wide open. I think South Doyle, Bearden, William Blount, Sevier County, and Lenoir City will have some really competitive games and Heritage depending on how well they shoot the 3 could also knock off any of the teams not named Maryville or Farragut. It should be a wild year with 3-7 wide open.
  11. Anderson County's girls won't finish in the top three much less win their District. Loudon, Stones Memorial, and Kingston will all be better than AC. I won't argue with you about OS or OR though because they are both good. Clinton is probably a year or two away.
  12. Fulton has a freshmen guard that is really good. He starts for them and they beat Maryville at Maryville last night. I think he averaged 35 pts a game in middle school.
  13. I think it is Lenoir City because that is the district of all those games and Lenoir City is not listed.
  14. You would be hard pressed to find a Single A guard that is better than the Shultz kid from Oliver Springs. He can really play. I would say as far as posts go, McMasters would be the best.
  15. The game was moved to Wednesday night. Anyone have any details?
  16. Dylan Powers from Lenoir City scored 30 pts and connected on 8-11 3pt shots against Oak Ridge in his freshmen debut. This kid can really fill it up.
  17. As long as Brian Brown is at Dyersburg, Dyer County will continue to get players. He is a hotheaded jerk and he will always lose players. As for the new faces, Coach Froeden ran most of his talent off be being a little too strict. He got his point across though. I'm not saying that Butch was right either. I think Butch was too lax and Pete was too hard. Anyway good luck to the Choctaws.
  18. Allen Iverson, Lebron James, and Ben Wallace were all High School all state footballers. I guess we can just agree to disagree. I love football and I love basketball. I just think that each player has specialized skills in football, whereas with basketball each player other than the occasional center has to know how to do pretty much everything. No hard feelings here.
  19. The best and most highly skilled athletes in the world play basketball. The main thing that both have in common is that players win the games not plays. Any defense can stop a play, but very few can stop great players. That being said if you have to teach alot of plays then you aren't spending enough time teaching the kids how to play. Remember one thing, to remember where to go stand and who to block does not require skill, it is memorization. I said basketball took more skill, which requires more practice.
  20. Lenoir City has a group of freshmen lead by 6'5 Tyler Hood and sharp shooter Dylan Powers. They will be a team to deal with in the future.
  21. Let me go ahead and stir the pot. Any athlete with any kind of ability can suit up and play football. It requires less skill than any of the other major sports. A good athlete that is strong can dominate a football game. Baseball and Basketball on the other hand require much more skill. Football only has two or three positions that really require you to do anything besides lift weights and do agilities and those are the quarterbacks and wide receivers. There are 5 quarterbacks on the floor in basketball, all of which are required to read the defense, handle the ball, rebound, shoot, as well as being responsible for defending their man. Therefor it requires alot more time spent to be successful at it. What some of you are failing to realize also, is that basketball is a lot more fun to practice for the kids as well. Matter of fact most kids actually enjoy playing it year round, and for those that don't, take a break and go do something else. Baseball also requires more skill, therefor demanding more practice. So stop whining keep lifting and working on your quickness, quit trying to blame other programs because you are not successful. After all don't kids have the right to chose what they do and when. I know they do at our school.
  22. Heritage lost the only two scoring threats they had. South Doyle, Sevier, and LC all have most of their key guys back. I will say this much 4-8 is pretty much wide open. You can even throw Bearden in there if you want to and say 3-8 is wide open.
  23. 1. Maryville 2. Farragut 3. Bearden 4. South Doyle 5. Lenoir City 6. William Blount 7. Sevier County 8. Heritage What does everyone think?
  24. I doubt they will be better than anyone expects. Everyone knows they are loaded and probably the preseason favorite to win the region. There is no way they can do any better than what anyone expects. Everyone expects them to represent East Tennessee in Murfreesboro. You heard it here first. Remember that
