  1. I found this schedule on the Haywood High web site. Forgive me if the schedule has already been posted. Battle for the State
  2. Try this link. The Commercial Appeal If you look at the Prep Games of the Week video clips (on the right hand side of the page), you should find one of Mitchell and CBHS. It appears Mitchell wears a solid black helmet. I hope this helps.
  3. You might be able to get some idea of Haywood's helmet from this link. It is just a purple helmet with the player's number on the side. Haywood's Web Site (Photo Gallery)
  4. I hope they don't, but I believe that F-W might win this game because Haywood does have a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot. Also, Haywood's pass defense isn't the best. However, I'm tired of reading about the rain at Dyersburg. D'burg won, and that is all that matters. It's over! They are in the driver's seat. They control their own destiny. But...Believe it or not, it rained on Haywood that night as well, and if Haywood had not fumbled the ball on their own 9 yard line near the end of the 3rd quarter, the game could have very well ended 7 - 0 Haywood. The 9 yard drive following that fumble recovery was the only time the Trojans got into the end zone during regulation play.
  5. Here is a link to Haywood's 2007 schedule. Schedule
  6. I don't know much about this year's team, but does this help you any? http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...=73265321952016
  7. I found this schedule on Haywood's web site. http://www.haywood.k12.tn.us/hhs/battleofthestate.html
  8. I hope you aren't trying to be funny about northside beating McNairy Central because they will be the only ones so you need to calm down on that one home skillet!! It sounds like you are the one who needs to calm down!. I'm neutral. I'm not a Northside fan. I'm not a McNairy fan. I simply answered the question, is there anyone in AA who is going to beat them (McNairy)? If the question had asked, is there anyone, other than Northside, in AA who will beat them? I would not have replied. North Side is AAA, so they're still undefeated in AA. Check the TSSAA website and look at reclassification for 2005 - 2009. Be sure to check basketball. Nothside is in District 14 - AA (in basketball). Sorry to disappoint you, but the Lady Bobcats are not undefeated in AA.
  9. Is anyone in AA going to beat them? I believe Northside already has!
  10. I did say that UC would probably win, and I also said I doubted it would be by 3 or 4 touchdowns. I also said that UC and FA were evenly matched. You remember, both teams (not just FA) willing to quit 3 times this year. (See post #37) Did FA really quit for the 4th time this season, or did the Vikings give it their all until the end? 6 - 0, that is a blowout of epic proportions! Yes UC is good for a 1A team, but I am sure the Tornadoes were a little surprised that they didn't run all over this 1A team! I'm sorry if what I am about to say hurts your feelings, but it is just something people are talking about. The Tornadoes won't be playing for the 1A championship this year! Its just the level of 1A competition that the Tornadoes will now have to face. By the way, have you seen the JCS - McKenzie score. Just in case you haven't, I'll let it be a surprise! (I guarantee you, it was no surprise to the fans of Region 8 - 1A.) Do you think the Eagles still might be at least a 2 TD underdog next week? I don't!!!
  11. Old Hickory Academy (now known as USJ) was a member of the MPSA at one time, as were Tennessee Academy (Brownsville), Rosemark Academy, SBEC, and some others. Of course, Tennessee Academy is no longer in operation, and SBEC's orginal school complex was located in Tennessee. Rossville Christian Academy (located in the southwestern corner of Fayette County) is still a member of the MPSA. Some of the teams that Fayette played were Marshall Academy (Holly Springs), Magnolia Heights (Senatobia), Lee Academy (Clarksdale), Kirk Academy (Grenada), and others. Travel did become somewhat of a problem, and traveling time and cost was one of the main reasons that F.A. made the decision to join the TSSAA. Fayette Academy has been existence for 40 years, and has always been called Fayette Academy. Good luck to both teams tonight. Some links of possible interest: MPSA Fayette Academy
  12. Ditto for UC. It seems the Tornadoes and Vikings are more evenly matched than I thought!
  13. I think (at least I hope) it was a one man executive decision made by "backinthaoc."
  14. "I don't think anyone is underestimating JCS or Fayette Acd..." Go back and read some of the posts! I will admit that Region 7 is tougher overall than Region 8, but Region 7 is the strongest 1A region in the state! I don't believe you will find a lot of people outside of northwest Tennessee who would agree! However, since UC (the champion of what some consider to be the strongest 1A region in the state) has been unchallenged by 8 single A teams with a combined record of 35-49, let's give them the state championship trophy tonight. All kidding aside, Union City appears to be the strongest 1A team (in West Tennessee) but you never know what might happen on any Friday night. I can think of several region champions who might agree!
  15. UC will probably win, but I doubt it will be a 3 to 4 TD blow out. As for your other point, I don't agree with your logic concerning USJ and the strength of 2A and 1A football. I agree that 2A is obviously stronger, but is the 2005 Bruin team a reliable comparison? It is obvious that the Bruins are down this year. This was stated in another post several weeks ago, but it bares repeating. Even if USJ were still in 1A, they would not have finished any better than 3rd in the region. JCS defeated USJ 27-8 , while Fayette defeated the Bruins 41-13. I am not trying to compare scores. I'm simply pointing out that the Bruins would not have dominated 1A this year either. I know that UC and McKenzie have great teams, and they are quite capable of beating JCS, but don't underestimate the Eagles. Just like the Tornadoes and Rebels, the Eagles have a lot of talent, strength, and speed, and they too are extremely well coached. Good luck to all of the teams in the play offs!
