  1. Brooks Placed twice, this thread is about those that NEVER placed.
  2. hmm.....lemme get a good shot at all these Region 1-Crosby, maybe Bosken (best state tourney I've ever seen in 03) Region 2-Shannon Sayne, Nick Breeden Region 3--Really, too hard----Keller, Blackmon, Gibson, Josh West, Carlos Thompson, Shazzon Bradley (isn't this also where Baylor would be?) Region 4-Yost, Ward, McKnight (McCallie?) Region 5-Steve Craig, Bubba Miller, Sean Kim, Sweeton Region 6- Charles McTorry, Casey Brewster, (Ryan, MBA?) Region 7-McCarty, Nikazy Region 8- Markese Nelson, Michael Spencer, the Marables
  3. Billy Madison. Next one..... "three Chinamen playing Fan-Tan. somebody runs in and says ' the world's coming to an end'. The First Chinaman says, well, I'd best go to the mission and pray. the Second one says, I think I'll get a Bottle of mezcal and find a woman! the Third one says "I Shall Finish the Game." well, I shall finish the Game, Doc......I shall Finish the game."
  4. dunno the last one, but I probably should. New one-- "this Cannot be a team of Common Men. Common Men Go nowhere. AGAIN."
  5. Reservoir Dogs. Next----- "You want us to lose?" "we've been Losing. What I want....is for us to finish...Dead Last."
  6. This is from Friday, a good movie......but is that good for in here? Geasley, Pulp Fiction, maybe the most quotable movie of all time. new one "they can't do that to our pledges.....only WE can do that to our pledges!!!"
  7. Edit: I'll answer the other ones. the "starting defense" one is The Program, and The "two yewts" is My cousin Vinny. alright....I'll be the one that throws up the softball. Miss this, and you should really consider leaving your shoes on the mat. "a Lot of people Ain't Indians....."
  8. I'm gonna say.....Sudden Impact. I know it's a Dirty Harry flick, but I can't say which one. I've got a GREAT one, and BIG ups to whoever gets it. "How would you Beat him?" "With a Stick, while he slept!!! But on a Horse, with a Lance?.....That Man is Unbeatable."
  9. Most schools are gonna have about a dozen of these.....and Ronnie, you mention Joey Elmore without Wil Andrews, Joe Gaffney, Jamie Kirby, Brad Carraway or Jason "Chop" Gray? for Shame..... Cookeville's list-- Matt Prowse Joe Hill Nic "Paco" Martinez Matt Bates others.....Bobby Hale, adam Hays, David Raffety, James Hubbard.
  10. I feel the need to clear this up, if only for you. Chris did indeed have a previously seperated shoulder suffered in the weeks leading up to the Regional Tourney. This, coupled with the fact that he had a TOUGH match with Crossville's Ray Hood in the 4/5 Quarterfinal, is the exact reason that the Cookeville staff forfeited the Regional Semi (NOT the Final) to Rusty. Why risk further injury when the overall goal-Medaling at state- was still available? and, While Ms. Shea has never been one to stay Quiet at all times, she meant no harm and respected Rusty and the Blackmons more than they know. Rusty's advice to Chris after a match they had the year before was a BIG moment in his career, and everyone involved knew that. And the match? it was a Half-effort single leg by Shea turned into a Beautiful Cement Drop (cow-catcher, Chalice, call it what you want) by Blackmon in (You DID get this part right) 22 seconds.
  11. the most feared kids I've ever seen were..... Matt Keller- just pure meanness every time he shot a double. Josh West- the only guy that ever made me physically GIVE and lay back to avoid my sternum being broken as a result of a body scissor. Junior Hernandez- least physically imposing, but the only guy that ever made me bleed. Jonathan Simpson- with a lead, just EVIL. Markese was Very Feared, more so than McTorry because A) he beat McTorry, and he was SO fast. he never looked like he was trying, due to pure quickness. Not a good or popular name to be bringing up, but I remember Dee Parker being quite feared.
  12. anybody thought about the chance that this is just for the DUALS?!?!??!?!? c'mon, folks....just a look at that and you can see that there's more than a few teams missing....SMALL teams. I bet (and hope) that the individuals are pretty much the same. trust me, guys....it could be worse. you could be in Virginia, where EVERYBODY gets a state medal. the splits and parity here are pathetic. I am currently involved in VA's single A (smallest class) and the state FINALISTS here couldn't make it into the 3rd place match in TN. be thankful for what you have...and for where you are.
  13. didn't Whit Casey win D-2 at 103? and on that, his brother Jim belongs on that list as well.
  14. the finals I know of-- 103- Johnson (BC) v Reeder (Cooke) 112- Tinsley (BC) 119- Cordell (BC) 125- Creagan (BC) v Messimer (rhea) 130- West (BC) 135- Ensminger (BC) 140- Baker (BC) v Proctor (Cooke) 145- Spain (BC) 152- 160- Gibson (BC) 171- Blackmon (BC) 189- Cooper (BC) 215- Bailey (BC) v Lankford (Cooke) 275- Bates (Cooke) v Grady (BC) I could speculate on the rest, bus I don't know for sure....and I won't post it unless I've gotten it from a good source.
  15. do NOT confuse enthusiasm with lack of knowledge...Jonathan Simpson Definitely knows what he is doing. that last name isn't Simpson for Nothing!!
  16. without seeing the actual results and who had choice (who had to go to the table first), my only idea is that maybe Henry thought Logsdon would bump Quinn and everyone after him up a class. then, the 160 is a double forfeit and there is still a chance (mathematically) to win.
  17. that's exactly what I meant.....they got Beat by the PA team, so I'd say that THEY were able to score more than 12 on them. and of COURSE it's too early--that's why I did it.
  18. well, I almost jinxed Bradley a couple years ago with a Microphone and a Brain lapse (those that know me will love that joke), so I figure I won't do it this time either. Is this Bradley Team the best that's ever been in TN? no one in the state has put up more than 12 (maybe even 6?) points on them. They could have possibly 8 or more in the State Finals....with maybe 12 medals. I've never seen a team that good in TN, and am looking forward to seeing this BC squad on my trip to Chattanooga in February. comment (read: ARGUE) away......
  19. How many times are we gonna beat this Dead Horse? we basically all agree that it's not good for them to wrestle the guys, and that there should be a seperate female division. Cookeville, who put female wrestling on the map in TN, will not have a girl wrestle on their HS team this year; Varsity, Freshman, or JV. That should tell you something. there IS a very good one coming next year, but for now, it's a dead issue.
  20. Wanna know why Dyersburg hasn't (and Won't for a LONG time, I'm willing to bet) Won the big one...........Ever? Simple. Kids in Dyersburg Like to Party. Like Nothing else on the Planet. Trust me, I should know. I did MORE than my share. the mentality among kids in Dburg is "there's entirely too much fun to be had while I'm in High School....Sports are nice, they get me noticed and invited to more parties, but I'm not willing to put Heart and SOUL into it" The Families are Great, the Boosters are Great, the administration is adequate, the Facilities are (minus a tornado setback) top-notch. but until the KIDS themselves put the time and effort into winning, the only way you see the Trojans Playing after Thanksgiving is to go watch Basketball.
  21. my prayers are with them...the Birds are some of the strongest, nicest and Best people I've ever known.
  22. when we talk about competing with Football, we have to know our competition and what we're up against. in Tennessee (maybe more than anywhere but Texas) kids grow up wanting to play Football. thus, alot of kids don't figure out till late in the game that they're NOT going to play for UT...and that they're more suited for Wrestling. I think it takes youth programs, and Lots of them. I also beleive that the Drastic Rise in youth programs over the past few years (think Cookeville and Murfreesboro) will start to Gradually pay dividends over the next Decade or so.
  23. AMAZING article; the Tennesseean should seriously watch its back. For, if the rest of the staff and writing is as good as this article, it's already putting the Tennesseean to absolute Shame. Local (or even statewide) Newspapers should realize that they're Not ESPN; National sports are well represented and well taken care of. It's the Big-Hearted Local athletes like wrestlers that are the best stories, when one gets off their lazy Journalistic Tail and digs a bit to Write a Decent story. I hope you hear this, Herald-Citizen; it's especially for YOU.
  24. Marlon Barnes--Millington (FB) Bryant Cherry--JCM (FB) Jason Steed--JCM (Cross Country)
  25. DIxie Challenge is AAU....thus it is almost assuredly Modified Folkstyle for the Upper level kids. Modified is pretty fun...freestyle without all the goofy extra points. still have to secure your takedowns, still get back points the same, but not as much Riding or stalling out on bottom.
