  1. Saint and Clint are both out along with 3 other starters Cap. We're contemplating a forfeit.
  2. Straight from the horse's mouth, CS plays tonight. Not sure if DS will get any touches or not though. One thing is for sure, DS will be fun for you guys to watch over the next 3 years.
  3. I really like both these RB's in this game. I think they'll both be running on Saturdays in the future. Maybe at different levels, but a good education none the less.
  4. I'm a little leery of that whole situation. However, he probably will be a fine player. Where and for how long is the question. Maybe someone can expand on an appropriate thread. Sounds like you are implying he is considering transferring to DB. I understand Volman has the inside scoop on this one...unless you are even closer. Can you elaborate jhilts? Don't intend to hijack this thread, I was just asking Jack about the freshman game that he mentioned earlier. As for the Weaver kid, I don't think jhilts was implying a transfer at all Comp. Correct me if I'm wrong jhilts, but I'd guess he was referring to personality issues as well as his position. You see, JW is an "outsider". He didn't earn his stripes through the system of either middle school. The whole family is a bit different. The situation is a bit easier seeing as how he came in as a freshman rather than a soph-senior though. I think it will work itself out. Some toes are being stepped on I'm sure, but the kid is a player no doubt. Some have a hard time of relinquishing the title of "middle school stud". They will learn or else. I say give the kid a shot and if he's better, then so be it. I think he's being given a shot and is earning his stripes. He must be impressing others as well or Jack wouldn't have asked about him?? IMHO, he's the best of the freshmen crop. And we have a good freshman crop.
  5. Yes ............and who is the #10 for South? Jake Weaver. Volman if I'm not mistaken didn't he start for the jv the other night? He's got pretty good size & form just didnt have muchtime to throw. SS JV overall had good size He plays RB on the freshman team but did play some QB for the JV. I don't think he started at QB in the JV game though. He's getting some practice time with the varsity. He's a big strong kid. Gonna be a good one for us.
  6. Jack, did Devaun play against our freshmen last week? Yes ............and who is the #10 for South? Jake Weaver.
  7. Jack, did Devaun play against our freshmen last week?
  8. I keep hearing all of this about how in 04’ you lost to the Vikings 52-7 (which is a total embarrassment to start off with), and then came back to “give the Vikings all they wanted”. The first words that come to my mind is…. B--- S---!!! Tell me this… if you were THS, how do you get up again for a team that you DRAGGED all game long for 52 (FIFTY TWO) points and held to just one TD despite playing EVERY BODY on your bench. You simple caught the Vikings sleeping in the playoff game. Reading more into it is simply wishful thinking. And to Stacey bringing all of this succes to the Sullivan South program I’ll give him this… he was one of the first to bring an EFFECTIVE spread offence to this area (the first being the East coach in 04’), and he brought change and excitement to the South program. But make no mistake the mull (figure of speech) he road in on has the initials CP! CP got injured in 05’ but that was still his team. So that would make it three years… the first year he kindled the fire, the second year he led the charge, and the third he put them on his shoulders and ran. Last year … you had a very good, well rounded football team no dispute. This year would be the year for the COACH to shine and …. well…. I was at the DB game and I’ll leave it at that. Speaking of "shiot", I remember the '04 playoff game well. I remember the Viking faithful were almost as confident as the South fans have been the last few years. I remember talking it up with them and GUARANTEEING that we'd give them a game the second time. They didn't want to believe it. I tried to get one of them to give me the Rebs and 40 points. I "settled" for 20. Remember TShelley? Then I remember another guarantee. They didn't want to hear that Maryville would kill them.
  9. Here I go again, going against my word of posting, but hey, some asked for it right? Anyway, funny post Batman. Comp is one of the most intelligent people I know. I always get a chuckle when he lays one of those puzzles down on the screen. I can just see these people's faces trying to interpret. Some don't even bother I'm sure because they simply can't. But, there are always methods to his madness and I enjoy every minute of it. Jack trys the same things and does a good job. But, each are on a different end of the spectrum. Most on here can relate to Jack. Like I said before, I appreciate most all the D-B faithful for their acts of kindness this year. Wow, has it been a long year! And, as bad as I hate to say it, it was almost therapeutic reading all the trash that some dished out to us over the past week. We never want to lose. NEVER. But, it almost made things normal again. Almost........
  10. Sorry, I had to step in here. Farragut would probably dominate Knox West too huh?
  11. I know I said I wouldn't post again, so please forgive me. This will be my last. Congrats to D-B, you still own us. But Cap, you know how this works. We own you. Now, if you'll just beat D-B, everything will be fine. One last note.........whoever blamed the band for the D-B win??!! the band??
  12. VolMan - Thanks. Sometimes we all get lucky I guess. It certainly does help not having the influence of being a parent or being die-hard fan. I agree with (some) of comp's comments. I confess I am confused on the black train thing. But, I detect a desire there for all of NET to rise to the consistent competiveness and success level as other areas of the state. I'm with you on that one. I'd love to see a couple of NET teams in the championship game every year. Maybe a 5A and a 3A this year (you know who you are). By the way Volman, just wondering since CP was brought up with Cap and comp, which Rebs are getting looks for athletics at the next level? comp? On the DB side, I gotta believe Chris will have opportunities, although I think I would try him at LB in college. Both Phillips and Garvin should play at the next level.
  13. Pudding, you get the "Best Post of the Thread" award. everything you just said is true. Some of it painfully so.
  14. Couldn’t agree with you more...and I was thinking the same thing at the very beginning of the season!! But the way our OC has used the play book based on our opponents strengths and/or weaknesses… not just Shepard, but at least two more seniors all have the potential to sign mid-major to D1!! Harmon has silenced all speculation and has a legitimate shot if he can get the looks at this point. And Talman's size and speed alone will get him looks if he has the opportunity to shine a little. Sending a player D1, and having him not only play but graduate will be a BIG feather in Stacy’s hat as far as I’m concerned. Wouldn’t that have been a thriller… Tebow against Phillips in what would have been (IMO) a thriller had Curt gone to the Vols. Had the current coach been in place at UT, I think we would have seen CP in the orange and white… what you think? No Cap, IMO, Kiffin wouldn't even look twice at Curt. Not his style. Curt made the correct choice both from a football and academic point.
  15. Great post Ticket to Ride...I think we need to get the running game going...thats not been there so far..besides St.Claire, and he want be available friday night by the way. With St.Claire out that takes away our running from the QB position..I know Heath had two long runs against Central but...get real..a middle school player could run on them. Our running backs are going to have to step up..We don't have a Taylor Fletcher at Rb this year..well we might but!!!!thats another story. I think DB can beat us on our special team play alone. If it comes down to special team play...well DB wins.I say Derrick will return a kickoff for a TD maybe two if we kick to him.And Seabolt will be rotating with Roop at QB.Seabolt is a great athlete that can cause us some problems.Look for DB to pass alot and from what I hear look for some tricks, at this point Graham has nothing to lose and he will pull all of his tricks out of his hat. I hope that I'm wrong but I think this game is going to be alot closer than some South people can swallow. I hope we put up 60 points...but I just don't have a good feeling with St. Claire being out.PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG REBELS!!!!!! Roll Rebel Nation!!!!!! This post concerns me rrn. I hope you aren't regretting the decision that you guys made. Patience is a virtue.
  16. When I saw the last name in the paper I wondered if it was you. I hope you are doing okay. Sure you can sit on our side. Easier access with the crutches. Get well man.
  17. I'm not Comp, but IMO, West would beat Boone by a couple of td's.
  18. The team that played Knox West the first 3 quarters has not been on the field since. Literally, it will never be on the field again. Will our team be able to get back the fire that we played those first 3 quarters with again? I'm not sure to tell you the truth. There have been glimpses. How can we as parents, coaches and friends expect it from these young men if we're not even sure how to act/feel ourselves? Spear, you don't know nor do I hope you ever know. Comp is correct. Not a knock on Boone because they have a very fine team. But they didn't see the team that Knox West did. Knox West is for real. Ask Farragut.
  19. Indian fans that have seen the freshmen play, was Volman correct on your freshman class? Especially the Cook kid? What do you think Art? You guys might struggle a little this year, but I think you'll be in good shape in a year or so.
  20. Quincy, Comp was just poking fun at you. He is good people. Comp will give and take with the best of them. No harm intended. Trust me, GC has his respect. Looking forward to the fun tonight. Everyone be safe and let's pray for a good game, good atmosphere and no injuries.
  21. I'd like to take a second to respond to the St. Clair issues brought up in this thread. Robert actually wanted Aaron to go to D-B. They live in the South school zone and Aaron went to elementary school there. When it was time for him to start middle school, Robert talked Aaron into going to Sevier for a few days to see if he'd like it. Aaron, like most any kid that age, decided he'd rather stay with his friends at Colonial Heights. Robert, like most good parents would, decided to let him stay at Colonial Heights. Robert loves D-B and actually attended D-B games rather than South games up until a few years ago. He would never guide a kid to not attend D-B. You can question his coaching abilities all you want. But, Robert is a good man, teacher and parent. As for the rest of the thread, I think a lot of people have valid points as to the state of your program. Waco included. But, those of you who think South fans are fueling this fire, think again. REAL South fans have bigger fish to fry. And if you THINK you are a South fan, but you are spending the majoritiy your time on this message board trying to stir up trouble, get REAL. Have a good day.
  22. It's been a tough week to say the least. I'm so proud of these young men. The support from the surrounding communities has been unreal. I used to eat, sleep, and breathe football. Funny how things can change in an instant. I'm beginning to get the answers to all the why's now. It's all about Perspective. Football is a game for sure. But, it can be a powerful tool in molding young men. In molding a community for that matter. God Bless you all.
