  1. BatmanDB, As a fan of DB how long can you be happy with winning regular season games, only to get put out quickly in the playoffs year after year. DB hasn't won a state championship since 1964. So Clark doesn't even have a state championship on his resume to keep him floating like Fulmer had with the national championship at UT. Maybe if he would spend more time in the field house planning and studying film instead of running on Eastman Road he might get the job done.
  2. So we have arrived at halfway point of this season in Big 8 football. Some teams are playing great football(Sullivan South, Daniel Boone, and Tennessee High), then some are hoping for a better showing next season. So out of the schools that are having a subpar season, which coach do you think is in the most trouble of losing his job or being forced to make the choice of stepping down. Graham Clark @ Dobyns Bennett (1-4 record with some tough games ahead) Kent Green @ David Crockett (2-2 record with some big games ahead) Scott Nelson @ Sullivan Central (0-4 record) Scott Rider @ Volunteer (0-5 record) The next one may not even be in trouble with a good showing the rest of the season and a possible playoff game ahead Scott Smith @ Science Hill(2-3) What are your thoughts? With it being the first year of the new Big 8 conference, does every coach get a free pass?
  3. In the Big 8 Jamboree, TN High didn't show their hand at all. They played safe and I can respect that. If Shepard is in tonight for the Vikings it will be total domination from the opening whistle. Either way the Vikings come out with the Win! Vikings 35 East 13
  4. I am sure it has been a tough week for the Rebels, and Greeneville brings in a really talented football team. I think South will show what they are made of tonight, and win this game for Jake. And when South wins, everyone in the Big 8 better watch out because they will be on a mission to make this season one to remember for many years to come. Defense stands tall tonight and holds Greeneville in check, Greeneville gets a late Td, but it will be no where near enough for the Devils. South 42 Greeneville 7
  5. Friday has come and time for the Falcons to defend the Nest. Last week is the past, and the Falcons are looking to the future, if they win tonight the season could turn out pretty good. A loss tonight means it will be a long, make that very long season for the Falcons. I think the Falcons will come out throwing jabs to North with the long ball scoring early, then the upper cut blow coming late by the Falcons running game finishing off North as the final buzzer sounds. Falcons 13 North 12
  6. Game day and Clinton is coming into the most intimidating stadium in the Tri-Cities good ole J. Fred Johnson. The field is built for speed which is what I hear the Indians train for. The Tribe run straight at Clinton and throw the ball around a little bit, but find the endzone again and again. Tribe 35 Clinton 17
  7. Volunteer will have a tough task against Elizabethton. The coaching match up between Uncle and Newphew should be pretty good. Both teams have good QB's and RB's so it should come down to line play on both sides of the ball that will lead to the W. Of Course I will be pulling for the Falcons since they are a Big 8 team.
  8. If DB can come out of this game with a win, they should feel very good about the season. If the Tribe happens to lose the game, they will use it as a good starting point to try and build a team that can make it to the top of the Big 8 by the end of the season. Good luck Indians!
  9. Well well a jamboree night has come and gone, here is what I saw. It seems like the Crockett and Boone quarter was the longest of the night, I guess because there were no impact players on either team. South is good on both sides of the ball, they could use a little better running game. Who cares if they played their starters the entire 12 mins. They need to be prepared and playing a normal scrimmage doesn't get them too ready for the season. Garvin and Phillips are the real deal LB duo, I would hate to be a QB or RB looking across the lines and seeing them, they are going to make a big impact in the Big 8 this season. I wish DB would have left their starters in a little longer, especially since Sensabaugh didn't do anything with his two carries(2 carries, no yards) He should have been able to take it to the house against Volunteer's defense but he got stuffed. If Sensabaugh has a good season he will have to do it all himself as the offensive line got blown up. Could DB be get stunned by Science Hill and not make the playoffs? For Volunteer I was expecting to see something good as I had heard Cradic got better, but what did I see the first time he gets flushed out of the pocket an INT just like last season. As for Rogers I feel bad that he also has no blocking just like Sensabaugh has none, he has to make plays happen to gain any yardage. What impressed me is he got hit really hard along the Indians sideline and popped right up and was back in the next series. Science Hill looked great on offense, Central was a nice surprise on a long pass that I feel was the best play of the entire Jamboree. I can't wait to see some of the big games this season in the Big 8, every friday night I will try to make my way out to a different stadium to see some of the great action.
