  1. Winning 14 out of 30 games each year is not being competitive, but at least it is a little better than baseball, and football. Softball and volleyball is still the best in the valley.
  2. Sequatchie County 35 Temple 12
  3. York Institute 30 Bledsoe County 12 Bledsoe cannot win until they replace the coaching staff, the school system is satisfied just to have a sports program, not a competitive program. Same for baseball, and basketball.
  4. This game will not even be close. Whitwell will not be able to cover the pass. Sequatchie is stronger, more physical and too deep. By the 2nd quarter, this one is over!!! Sequatchie 42-6.
  5. BnL, was there any other team last night that impressed you besides your own team?
  6. BnL - you have to realize that Boyd is the new kid coming into the district. There are still ALOT of people that do not like private schools participating with public schools. Just like a new student coming to a classroom for the first day, what Boyd did in the past means absolutely nothing. You will have to prove yourself to this district. And you may do that before the season ends, but you didn't prove it in the jamboree. Boyd looked very much like an average team. Whether you play football in practice, scrimmage, playday, jamboree, or regular season, you ALWAYS play hard to win. If Boyd only played their starters for one series, then why show up at all? Fans did not pay 5 dollars to watch everyones second stringers. I was there, I had a program, and Boyd's starters DID play more than one series. A couple of starters came out on certain plays but it was not their entire second team playing, except during the second quarter against whitwell.
  7. Well, I enjoyed sharing opinions with you, I still hope for the best for bledsoe athletics, see you later!!!!!!!!
  8. I agree with you, the school really dropped the ball on that one and that goes back to the committment of the administration. As far as boy's basketball is concerned, they have had the talent but still not playing any better than .500, right?
  9. READ MY EARLIER POST!! I will type this real slow so you can read it. I said the girls programs were good, the mention of the feeder program was directed at the rec teams not the middle school, and if the middle school is turning out these great teams what is happening to them at the high school? You are the one that started this thread trashing your own school, i happen to agree with what you are saying and then you get argumentative with me?
  10. all of them, but baseball is the biggest disappointment. There is no quality feeder program for this school. The outside leagues are all about coaches who just worry about picking the best kids and see how many runs they can score.
  11. They are not playing those teams this year and they are still losing. Even if you get 1 or 2 private schools in your district that still has nothing to do with losing 15- 20 games a year.
  12. The talent is there for all of those programs. But the coaching is not ,except maybe for the girls basketball, volleyball, and softball. What makes these programs more successful than the boy's? Coaching. coaching, and more coaching. The boy's programs are not as dedicated to off season or inseason work. The coaches do try, but they are not the caliber that can raise a program from mediocre to contenders. There are alot more high schools in the state that have only half the students that atttend school at Bledsoe, but these programs are consistent winners 3 out of every four years. How can that be? Answer: Being satisfied with what you are and where your program is at and not willing to change it. As long as we keep our home grown coaches and keep it in the family nothing will ever change, and I would really hate to see that continue to happen.
  13. Oh, I am very sorry. I forgot that beating a couple of valley teams makes them a powerhouse. The only descent programs are softball and volleyball. These two sports have been able to compete with all the district teams and as a matter of fact they have won their district a couple of times. This is the point I was trying to make, it is not acceptable to be content with playing .500 ball every year.
  14. No, the basketball teams have not beaten every valley neither. Even if they had, that is really something to brag about: Go 10-15 every year but at least we beat those other 3 valley teams, WOW what an accomplishment!!!
  15. You are correct, you do not know what is going on, this is not about the players. This is about a school that is satisfied with just having a team and if they are able to beat the other valley teams then they are satisfied with having a GREAT season. This is true with all of their sports not just baseball.
  16. As long as you have an administration that is satisfied with an average or below average program, in any sport, the results will always be the same. When they finally decide enough is enough, and bring in some quality coaching, (and this includes basketball) the programs will come around.
  17. You are not bursting my bubble. I know you can play for five years if the school you attend includes 8th graders in the same building as the high school. The question that was asked at the beginning of the thread was can you leave a private school and play for 4 more years at a public school. The answer is NO, you must play for the same school.

    How Far

There seems to be more than one question on this thread. I also believe that coaches push pitchers and other players beyond their limits on occasions and there should be limits on the amount of innings pitched in one day. But as far as pushing players to be their best and requiring players to devote their time and energy to their sport i disagree with. It may be just high school to some of you, but as a player and a coach it is more than a high school sport. For some coaches it is the difference in a paycheck, for players it is the difference in a college scholarship. If you just want to play for the fun, without all the work and sacrifice then play outside league ball with your neighborhood teams.
  19. You are correct, as long as he stays where he is then he can play till his senior year.
  20. 1) First, 8th grade is bound by high school elgibility requirements. 2) Second, he would have 3 years of elgibility remaining whether he plays 9th , 10th, and 11th grades or 10th , 11th, and 12th grade. 3) You cannot play 5 years of high school varsity athletics in any sport. 4) This is exactly why parents need to be sure of rules when they take students out of the public school system and then for whatever reason want to put them back into public schools. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
  21. I am sorry, you are mistaken, the coach can have no contact period.
  22. You are exactly right. Until the player officially enrolls into the new school the coach cannot have any contact with the player or their family. Once the player enrolls the coach contacts the former coach of the player and asks information about playing time and the last date when the player actually played in a game or a practice. TSSAA calls it an athletic record but it is not an actual piece of paper that follows a player around like a school record. If the player transferring is not allowed to play, according to TSSAA rules, then the player must wait 12 months to the day from the last game or practice they participated in. Hope this helps.
