  1. So how will the region bracket look with 1. Milan 2. Lexington 3. Camden and 4. Mckenzie in 11aa?....Camden and Lexington can beat each other on any given nite and Mckenzie is truly suffering this year, Milan looks like the most likely contender from 11aa with a shot at region....but stranger things have happened!
  2. I know what you're saying Antwan but I've seen her throw over the winter and she's the real deal....She was clocked 61-62 consistently with some higher as I understand it....she's very impressive and looks effortless as she throws....you will hear her name this season guaranteed. She didn't get much time last year being a freshman with a very capable senior and junior pitching staff, but will be a major player this season.
  3. A pitcher to watch from the west this year is Leah Hensley from Camden....she has great location and movement and her fastball is consistently timed in the low to mid 60's....and the best part is she's only a sophomore! thumb
  4. Lionpride have you been to the Martin camp?....I was impressed last year especially with the hitting portion of the camp....they have good facilities and good leaders.
  5. They get to play in the tourney without the transfer star that helped them get there....then they will have to prove just how good (or not so good ) a coach they really are.
  6. I too think Camden will hang with Lexington and Milan this year!....Our biggest question could be at catcher.....from what I hear in the month of March its going to be "scout city" in Camden and I'm am so glad....we have some really talented atheletes and I'm glad the next level is realizing that too....I heard last nite that Zollicoffer and Guarjardo have gotten offers from Bethel and will sign on sometime next week to play football....Markham also has had some good offers but from what I hear is waiting to see what the month of March brings to him Good luck Lions can't wait for the season to begin!
  7. How do you think Lexington will be this year?....I know they lost Wood and Stanfill but how does their offensive talent and pitching measure up this year....Camdencentral 04 how do you think Camden will do this year??....Just wanted to hear another opinion....thanks thumb
  8. I agree...the future looks bright for our Lady Lions! thumb
  9. Thanks for the info everyone....Camden returns their aces this year although one may not be pitching this tourney because he's recovering from a hand injury he got during football season...we look to improve on last year's season playing in the tough district/region with Lexington and AA state champ Milan. Defensively we are very sound and should be able to produce some consistent offense...the bottom of the pitching rotation could be the only main concern but I hear we have some decent young talent that could step up and make an impact this season...good luck to everyone and we'll see ya the 18th!
  10. Such ignorance....Who is giving anyone false hopes???...They won their conference period end of story.....and I didn't say that the state placed them in the conference they are in....they are in that conference with somewhat local teams I'm sure because of budget constraints....BTW why do you care anyway???...I'm sure that Milan plays teams locally just like Camden does....so what does that prove?....no one has ever blamed the girls b-ball coach that I'm aware of because Camden has usually always had a decent girls team. You don't hear anyone saying anything about why they can't win in high school....I think its great that they won their conference and we as a community expect these girls to be successful in whatever thay decide to do....and if that means high school b-ball then I imagine we'll all be there to cheer them on like we always have and always will. Once again congrats to our girls on a great season....GO LIONS!
  11. Give me a break!...they play teams in the conference they are placed in...I don't hear anyone accusing the coach of anything ...no one but you anyway....go back and play in your own conference thread loser!.....Congrats again ladies on an awesome season!
  12. The Lady Lions took it to the Lady War Eagles of Lakewood last nite 37-26 to become River Conference champs....Cooper had a good scoring nite and defensively the ladies were on it!!....Congratulations to Coach Grant and to all on a great season! GO LIONS!
  13. The Camden Lions baseball team will be traveling across the state to participate in Roane Co.'s tourney March 18-21...if anyone has any info on some of the teams (Harriman, Oliver Springs, Kingston Rockwood and ?) we will be facing it would be appreciated....Oliver Springs is then scheduled to travel to Camden later in the week to face the Lions at home and we look forward to having them!
  14. I agree!....Clayton is fun to watch and he's quick...It would be hard to get a step on him...and another one that is really coming on is Tyrone as PG....I really like him in that role...sometimes I think he's too unselfish and dishes it out too much when he should just go in for the shot....should be interesting next year. The only thing I wonder about for next year is who is going to be our shooter??....anybody impressive coming along?
  15. Farmer came on as a starter after Chandler was sidelined with an injury....replacing a player with a like player in that case...Farmer is also the BEST defensive player Camden has hands down. As far as not playing French....it really wouldn't make much sense...his arm length and rebounding not to mention his jumpers and three point threat automatically keep him on the floor....Guajardo is trading time out with Des in situations where playing the "small" lineup is needed ie...needing the three or not needing a big man under the basket. When Josh is on he's on but that is also true of French....Farmer is faster than Guarjardo and also causes the majority of the turn-overs during the game...All three of these players have their strengths and weaknesses and I think Coach does a fairly good job of rotating everyone in and out depending on the situation. It would be hard to justify replacing anyone because they all have a job they do and do well and they compliment each other nicely.
  16. I think that was a typo and should be 6'9"....
  17. From what I understand LC was called for the T because they ran through the middle of Waverly's warm ups....but then the refs made up for that call the rest of the night at Waverly's expense. Not to take away from LC's victory but I heard the refs were pretty terrible. Bad refs or not Waverly is going to have to get their heads in the right place before districts to avoid an unexpected upset. Good luck to both teams in their respective districts and on to the region.
  18. How utterly tactless...USJ will have a tough season next year no doubt but no, not everyone in west tn loved that they lost...USJ had a great season and deserved the recognition they've gotten....sounds like you're a sore loser with a bad case of sour grapes to me!...Grow Up

    2A Gold Ball

oh really???...and who would that be then?...Maryville??...Gerry have you seen H=towns defense recently???... so what's the basis of your opinion?...this mustang defense could give Maryville a run for its money cause they have tightened up and they are the real deal.
  20. I saw it too and you could tell the announcers wanted to say something bad about it but didn't...and all on a play that didn't even count because of an illegal procedure call...too many lineman have banged-up knees and fractured legs because of chop blocking....should be outlawed IMO.
  21. Congrats to Milan on an outstanding post-season....to come in 6-4 and then play the kind of ball you have shows true heart and fine leadership from what I understand is a great group of seniors...Good Luck to all of you in the future...to Huntingdon you showed why you won the ball last year and why you'll be bringing it back again to the west this year!!...alcoa seems to think that they are all that and a bag of chips....lets show them what west tn ball is all about!!!....Good Luck Mustangs!

    2A Gold Ball

The worst thing alcoa can do at this point is underestimate their opponent ...West tn plays a different type of ball and for anyone to compare the alcoa-lipscomb score with the milan-huntingdon score would be foolish in the extreme...I believe lipscomb slaughtered alcoa last year and then huntingdon did the same to lipscomb to take home the ball...remember it can and probably will happen again, it'll just be alcoa's turn this time...the tornado's have NOT seen a defense this good this year and they have NOT had to defend backs like weathers and donald....do I think this will be a good game??...ABSOLUTELY....but alcoa need not think that they will come out and score points at will or that lindsey will have a big game cause it ain't gonna happen...both teams need to know what they have to do to win and that's to realize that you don't make it this far without being the BEST team for the job....so don't think huntingdon skated through to this point because I would love to see some east teams come play west tn ball for a weekend...it would be enlightning for some of you....Good Luck to both teams and I can't wait to see this one!
  23. I dunno...I couldn't see them for all the Camden Fans...
  24. We learned from the master and its just not been the same this week without your trash thrown in...We miss you!!...NOT
