  1. Actually my opinion (along with yours) never did matter. I simply have insight into coaching circles that does allow me some fact based conjecture. Coach Fitzgerald did win, although, did he have more winning seasons than losing? I dont know. 2 state Champ trophies does carry water however, even though both of those teams were absolutely loaded with D1, even NFL talent. Nevertheless, win he did. That is until he lost his D-co-ordinator who used to be the head coach at Lane college. I have also noticed that anyone you personally know, you believe to be a great coach, no matter the actual truth. Good luck to Coach Brunnetti. Hope he does well.
  2. You are correct. I was wrong. However, my mistake was believing that surely Metro had a little bit better stock to pick from. None apparently wanted to give PC the ole college try. Good luck to Coach Brunnetti. He needs to hire extremely well.
  3. Fact. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
  4. That is your mistake. Only knowing names, but not abilities.
  5. As you can see, I noticed my mistake. I hope you do yours........buddy
  6. Brunetti will not get the job. Who he worked with or for makes no difference. Not gonna happen. But, I do understand your............motives
  7. True, but most of those have way to much BAGGAGE for SB to take a chance on again.
  8. Not so sure its incompetence as much as they have not any QUALIFIED and CAPABLE candidates that have applied. Maurice is a bit of a tough act to follow. Not so much the wins, more on long the lines of his input into the community, churchs...etc. Wrong hire here could result in the same scenario next year. Lord know Metro has made plenty of bad hires in the past.............might be searching for the right fit. When a good fit has not applied (and they havnt) probably better off going and finding him as opposed to hiring someone who would likely fall on their face.
  9. O'Conner to Giles Johnson will leave, but not to Pearl Cohn. How do you say it Catfishhunter ?????? Book it.
  10. Gone indeed. But with no where to go! Never....never....to Pearl Cohn.
  11. Players commit to their teams and teammates. Coaches commit to teaching the game to the players, much like an English teacher commits to teaching English to his or her students. Administrator and School Systems commit to nothing. Therefore, coaches least of all are shown no commitment. What has happened is that on the HS level, administrations because of pressure from society (i.e. parents) feel as though they must put a winning football team on the field. I suppose this idea of a poor season being reason enough to fire a coach filters down from the NFL, NCAA, etc.... Their is on huge difference however: Professional and College coaches have guaranteed contracts for a set number of years. NO SUCH CONTRACTS EXIST IN HIGH SCHOOL COACHING. HS coaches have no recourse, no severence pay, no legal standing, nothing. Their jobs are totally up to administration which in many cases means out of control board members, influential parents, past coaches, etc... It was not always like this. There was a time that your coach, was your coach, through thick and thin. That is not the case any longer. Now, Joe Schmoe (the local garbage man) is a member of the school board. Ole Joe once played middle school football, just before he dropped out of school to pursue his job in sanitation enginneering. Joe's son, Elroy, didnt get to play much last year on the HS team and Joe is not real happy about it. "That darn Coach just plays the doctors and lawyers sons", Joe proclaims to anyone who will listen. And, guess what, Joe has now made it his lifes work to play politics and get that coach fired. Which of course he probably can do, since their are not contractual obligations by the school or system to guarantee the coach his job. I realize that this, at present, is not the case in Pulaski. But, that is the case in HS football as a whole in this day and time and that is why coaches often seize any oppurtunity to better thier situation.
  12. Two early names in the Pulaski search. Ron Crawford, David Oconnell
  13. One thing is for sure, Tim Johnson, will not get the Pearl Cohn job!!! Although, as often as he moves, maybe he will after all! Seriously, lots of political pressure being put on the higher ups in the Metro royalty by those in favor of WJ. Problem is, Metro royalty has the absolute proof needed to show why he might not be the best choice. And the plot thickens........
  14. And it only gets uglier from there.
  15. Since it is obvious that you disagree, I guess only time will tell. It always does. Lets just make sure that we are both man enough to admit who was correct on this one, without the inmature babbling please.
  16. Please dont result to petty name calling as you ususally do, with me. You are not on my level. I never said I knew who it was going to be, I simply stated who it is not going to be. I would venture a guess that there are many qualified asst. coaches in Metro that would want a crack at the job, and many time metro hires from within. WJ has no, 0, nada, credibility in metro or any middle tennessee coaching circles. Simply posting a good record, in itself, is not good enough to be hired. Marshall County has found that out over the past few years.
  17. MF has absolutely no imput into who gets this job. He may recommend, he may politic, but ultimately, no imput. Short of someone parting the red sea, WJ will never have a head job in Metro again. He will ATTEMPT to stay where he is. Look for an asst. at another prominent metro school to land the PC job.
  18. Or it could mean that WJ has found out that he has no shot at either the Antioch or PC job after his last hasty getaway from Metro. (Which is actually what if does mean) Its called saving face.
  19. BB, KP, JP, all good coaches. Not sure if BB fits the bill for BGA just yet. KP, as good as they come both on the coaching front and as a person. I have also heard that the Randolph School has worn thin on him. He is much to young to not get back in the game. Possible KP, JP reunion at BGA? That would be quite interesting indeed! By the way, SS is just that, a sick, sick man.
  20. Actually I dont remember if he made the playoffs or not, but I do know that he never had a winning record, almost bankrupted the entire athletic program, and was ran out of town on a rail. Again, not guess work here. FACTS Ask anyone in the know about the Shotgun5wide era at GB HS.
  21. If you are refering to JP then you are correct, although one of the reasons he has not been looked at seriously for public school jobs is his lack of certification in any teaching disicipline. BGA however could be a nice fit for JP. As far as the Green Lantern is concerned. OLD NEWS. Your 15 minutes of mouthy fame are over. I am not a coach but am privey to the circle of coaches in the middle Tn area. You have made your own bed with your big mouth, now lie in it!!
  22. Careful what you wish for.... Not a coach here, just an insider. One who knows the circles of your profession. One who knows a little more than you care to share. One who knows your public school coaching record. One who knows.
  23. Interesting how things have worked out for Coach Smith. From the Penthouse to the Outhouse. One might wonder what would happen to the many other private school gurus if they decided to make the move to the public sector. They might indeed find the going a bit tougher. Nevertheless, as they say, it could not have happened to a nicer guy. Maybe....work harder?
