From 1987 until 2009, Huntets Lane played good football and were well respected throughout the tenures of Jerry Pigue and Richard Campbell. HL fell off the cliff after Campbell left. Hillwopd had success under Jerry Link. Glencliff had some good seasons under Jim Wilson. Whites Creek was a power under Richard Coure. Pearl Cohn never won more than 2 games until Maurice Fitzgerald took over. The point is, the right coach at a school makes all the difference. The most recent example is Cane Ridge and Eddie Woods. The most consistent programs over long periods of time are Overton, Maplewood, and more recently Pearl Cohn and Hillsboro.

Give the new principals at Antioch and Hillwood a chance. If they make football a priority, perhaps they will improve.

Hillwood and Antioch can both be successful. Both have good zones that are being raided. Hillwood by private schools and Antioch by Cane Ridge. The new staffs at these two schools must give families a reason to send their sons there. Hunters Lane has other problems that a coach will not fix.

Williams is the only football coach in Overton's history with a losing record. He inherited an 11-1 team with a ton of talent returning. Huge drop off ever since. Time for a change.

If it has been stopped that is an individual principals decision. Everybody gets PE credit weight training substitutes for that.

They should make Mose Phillips an offer he can't refuse. This would hurt Cane Ridge and steer talent to Antioch. Allow him to bring at least 3 assistants with him that he chooses. Give him a gravy teaching schedule. Have weight training throughout the day with a strength coach he recommends.

Gallatin has some big advantages over most other programs. 1 tradition of excellence going back for decades, following the greatness established by Coaches Barron, Short, Lassiter 2 great community support 3 tough kids willing to work and be dedicated to the program 4 there is a pipeline of players from youth leagues to middle school to GHS 5 there is an expectation to win and there is no reason not to I played against and coached against Gallatin and have immense respect for them. I am somewhat jealous that I never was part of a program with such tradition. I hope they return to prominence. HS football in middle TN is better with GHS competing for a gold ball.
