  1. Great job by the Greene Devils in this series. In the first game they got several hits and they came in ready and swinging the bats well. East did not play really good defense and that helped Greeneville score a few runs as well. In the second game Greeneville came in flat and East was the team ready to play and put runs up early and went on to a 7-2 win. In the final game of the series, Nick Greene and Jordan Greenway both pitched excellent games. Greene was relieved by Bullington who pitched well also. Greenway's pitching line was 7 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs, 0 earned runs, 9 K's, 0 BB. East had 3 hits and Greeneville 5. As for the stupid stuff about who is the ace and who might give up a home run on a 0-2 pitch well looking at the pitching stats Ryan Fillers has the lowest ERA from a starter at 1.05 so does that make him the ace? He may be but who really cares who the ace is? I feel that all these guys as everyone has their moments and can be very effective. Looking at the fielding stats we have 37 errors in ten games played 3.7 per game and that is more reason of concern as far as I see it. And as always these thoughts are just my opinion.
  2. Maybe prediction is not her strong suit...............better be careful in Vegas! Thats Las Vegas, not the mighty G-Vegas! Big win last night for the Devils against East. East threw the ball around quite a bit and made some mistakes but Greeneville hit the ball really well against Collins. Last season they had like three hits on him. Either way they will take the win because they needed one badly.
  3. The first two games of the Jefferson County-Greeneville series were really good ballgames with either team having a chance to win the games, those are the games you need to win to be a contender, Jefferson County did that and have started the season well. Last night the game was kind of dull and I felt that Greeneville never really got into the game, maybe the loss the night before took a lot out of them but the excitement wasn't there and their play kind of showed that. The season is young and there are some good things that they can take out of the series but I guess the bottom line is that winning is a major factor in confidence and enthusiasm. Keep working hard Devils!
  4. Yeah not to mention the help that he gave us in the press box with the music last night. DZ I appreciate the help. You gonna be at the makeup game tonight?
  5. Jefferson County - Greeneville game was a really good game. Greeneville made a few costly mistakes that really hurt. Had Jeff County on the ropes but give Jeff credit, they took advantage of the mistakes and got the win. Tough loss for the Devils. Hey DZ is there a link or something to your story on the game? 2-1 loss for Cocke County. Did Hartsell pitch for Cocke County and who pitched for Cherokee?
  6. This is just plain BAD! Does TSSAA ask anyone about any of this stuff or do they just do it because they can. The best way to keep a child out of trouble is to keep them busy. All kids are not going to be model citizens by themselves some need some help. And sure they may say that they can do more with their families but I for one have to work all day........yeah even in the summer, so I can't just do things with them all the time. I have a question though: Now read the rule about the 50%, to me it does not mean anything in the summer. It says prior to the season beginning and during the school year. Participation during the school year........... Is that just wishful thinking on my part or am I just looking at the rule wrong? How do you guys interept it?
  7. How the heck did Greeneville get dragged into this? I do not read where anything was said from anyone from Greeneville. I don't think we had a right to say anything about either one because from where I stand I don't think Greeneville was playing last night. So leave them out of your smart aleck posts!
  8. PT, you would probably have to fight to get Eual's seat. He was kinda rude to the Cherokee radio people when they were there earlier in the year, so if he says something mean forgive him, he is thinking of ways to get more quotes from Crumbley. LOL
  9. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiifffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff is a mighty big word!
  10. DZ just be careful about calling those girls SHHHHHHHH "Freshman" !! You know the best thing to come out of Alabama don't you???? I-59 North
  11. Great game last night, Wiggins you carried the load all season but when we needed support not much came your way. Wes Woods (5) is usually a reliable shooter and last night he had 1 point. Tremaine Gash (2) has carried a big part of the load and last night he had 6 points. We also had a starter out last night who is our best defender and our biggest hustler on the court. Anderson who is usually in foul trouble by halftime did a good job of not trying to swat every shot and played big last night for Greeneville. That being said, great job by Dobyns Bennett last night to pull it out. I felt that although Coty S did not score but 1 point he was beating his man and forcing wiggins to come out allowing the dish down low. Thrope did a good job taking care of the ball and played good defense. Good luck to DB. I will root for the NET teams as far as they can go. Maroon & Grey................seems to reason that if you have forty kids tryout for a team that you are gonna have a better 13 players than if 13 kids try out for a team. Does that make any sense to you or are you really that thick headed???????????? In my opinion if these two teams were to play 10 times it might be 5 to 5 because they put on a good show last night and it came down to the last possession and DB did a great job of hitting a shot when they did so Greeneville had no time left to do anything. That is what high school basketball is all about.
  12. Can Greeneville win the region tourney? Sure but I think it will take two more really good games on their part. Can Greeneville go to the state tourney? Sure but that would take another good game on their part. Would Greeneville be 30-2 if they played in the Big 9? No personally I don't think so but they don't. Did Science Hill wear Greeneville out? Yes they did badly, however that was one game and that does not mean that it would happen the next time they might meet. I made the statement last year after the region that Science Hill and DB would be the teams to beat for the next few years because of the youth on their teams. Greeneville has really suprised a lot of people this season and have played some really good basketball. I look forward to the game tonight if both teams play well it should be a heck of a battle.
  13. Hey DZ just remember Barb is not a freshman!
  14. Guaranteed??? Wow I know Walker had a good game against West having his career high with 24 but how in the world would anyone say that was a guarantee? Do you bet on horses too?
  15. Maybe just maybe he did not want to take Steve Wilhoit's seat???? Or how about this one he can not see the action well enough from the upper level of the stadium???? Any other good excuses come to mind?????? And maybe he is busy going to the bathroom or getting something to eat between games or at halftime of the boys game and can not find Stacia??? I think the deadline is 11 at the sun, they have an early delivery time on Saturdays, my paper is usually delivered between five and six!
  16. This is a bad thing that happened. Why did it happen? Only the person responsible really knows. I do know it is unfortunate that it happened and I do know that they have some very very good kids on the South Greene team. I do know they love to win and they compete very hard. Some things have been said about the girls and believe it or not they might be from South Greene but they can read and they dont deserve to be put down any further. I don't know why that happened but it was bad and I disagree with it 100%. I also don't think putting Coach Ricker down is very nice either. However since it has been done and it is over why does everyone who has been posting on the subject just put all their energy into praying for Marissa to improve and get well. From what I understand she has a long road to recovery and I am sure that she, her parents and her friends would all appreciate the thoughts and prayers that could be given to her.
  17. In my opinion the polls are just something to talk about. However after watching CC at the first of the season to now................I might rate them the #1 most improved team in the state. I really think they have come together well and are playing good at the right time. Their coach has done a good job with them. My opinion is that Deans absolutely deserved the player of the year whether she is a cheerleader, vocal leader or whatever you mean by her not being able to rally them. I think she leads by example and she really plays hard every night. It has been fun reading quotes and barbs and insults from everyone this season. Congrats to Greeneville for the district championship and I hope that District 2 plays well in the region.
  18. I don't disagree with you PT I was just stating an observation which a few people were thinking the other night. If I were in her shoes I probably would have turned it over or just wanted to get rid of it. I in no way was knocking her because she played a heck of a game. Well DZ guess thats how it has to be then, just keep wearing it. But you might need to have everyone you know buy something because they do have a very big payroll to meet now. LOL You guys be careful going to the games and good luck to all our district teams next week in the regionals.
  19. If Greeneville was to go to the dance and If DZ goes to cover the Greeneville team the only thing that we would ask is that he lose the "A" cap while he is covering them............................LOL On a more serious note, hats off to Cocke County for playing a very good game Friday night. It was very entertaining and if they continue to play that well they might do well in the region. Buda played a fantastic game. I wonder what everyone else thinks about the end of the game when she got the ball and was driving down court? I felt she should have taken the ball to the hole and she would have either gotten fouled or hit the shot but she decided to pull up, maybe part of being a freshman and if she were more experienced she would have gone to the hole. just curious about if anyone else thought about it. Seemed Greeneville had problems stopping her off the dribble all night.
  20. I do not think that it was very fair to Greeneville either, I am sure Coach Duncan would have liked to have seen a little bit of a challenge instead of not playing the starters at all in the second half. I figure Coach Duncan scheduled this game to help him get ready for the District but at least the younger players got some playing time.
  21. Okay here is my input on this. I feel that Galyon last year probably had a better team than Greeneville. I feel that this season Galyon has been really hurt badly by injuries. I think that Galyon had an excellent game plan against Greeneville in their first meeting and had a chance of winning. I also think that Greeneville shot the ball very poorly and the packed in zone defense worked like a charm. Cocke County did the same thing but Greeneville was hitting some of the shots that would not fall against West. I think the three ladies have made their share of mistakes and some of the things I might try could have results that were not good as well. But you can not argue with success and they are having a very successful year. And I don't think anyone has meant it to be a comment about them being female. Heck last time I checked a female coach had more victories than anyone in college basketball. And PT I agree sometimes a coach just has the other teams number and it is tough to get over that hump. It took the Bulls a while to get over the Pistons as well as the ones you have listed.
  22. First and foremost Morristown West should be the next thing on their mind since they play there tonight. But in my opinion they have got to make it out of the region, through Sectionals against a Knoxville team before they even begin to worry about a West Tennessee team. The way they are playing right now I don't see it happening. No excuses for the Science Hill game, they wanted it more than Greeneville did and proved it. But this is not the time of year to start not playing well.
  23. That is the reason that I asked about location of Regionals. I have heard different reports and was unsure myself. Kind of confusing though. I knew that the regionals were at Hal Henard last year and I did not think they would be at the same place again.
  24. Yep big game, yep it was from NBA range, yep he nailed it and it was a start to an awesome night. BUT yep he was yelling at the Greeneville bench and crowd, directly at them. I have never doubted his game and I don't know about all this class crap as you called it but as I said when he goes to Georgetown I hope he represents East Tennessee with class. I would hate to hear Billy Packer say that "Boy that was uncalled for" or something just after announcing that he is from Johnson City, Tennessee.
