  1. Typical Soddy Daisy whining. Sounds like all of the maturity is on the western end of the state. Loads of talent at SD, enough for 2 teams the last several years, but no state championships to show for it. Hmmm- wonder why? Do the blues cheat them in every game? No- Coach Kirk can't intimidate them away from home.
  2. Did SBA put a whipping on Soddy Daisy last weekend? Either way SBA has to be the odds-on favorite for D-II this year. Isn't SBA's pitcher the kid that's going to Stetson? If so, the next 3 years and 6+ games should be fun to watch while Vercoe and she compete against each other. By the way, saw SBA's assistant coach at Miss State's tournament last month. Nice guy as well as sportsman.
  3. The DII favorite has to be St. Benedict this year. Father Ryan will be very good as will GPS. Their hitters will have to carry them. Baylor will have 1 very strong pitcher this year. What about the other middle TN teams?
  4. Laura Davies- Senior @ Baylor. She has technical catching skills as well as an arm that are the equal of anyone in the state.
  5. Will Coach Nelson survive the parents' and the booster club's attacks on her? Parents- be careful about what you wish for because you might just get it. If the administration doesn't retain her it will be a shame. Why is it that the same people, parents and kids, who caused the problems at the middle school 4 and 5 years ago are still causing problems today? It is well-known who you are. If Coach goes it won't be Lamar Lasley who gets the job. What are you going to do when the outsider who gets hired has the support (for a change) of school administration; he or she doesn't have the same high opinion of the All-Americans who apparently aren't getting much interest from D-I programs; and he or she tells you to shutup or pack up? I can't wait to see it. Congratulations to the parents who have hung in there and supported Coach Nelson. As for the rest of you who have spread lies, rumors and innuendos about both her and certain of her supporters- your actions and your prejudices will have an effect on several players and the sponsor of the Eagles 18's. To coin another phrase, what goes around comes around. LOL
  6. Baylor versus Knox Catholic 5/6/05- 4 went not just out but way out. At least 4-5 more hit the fences.
  7. Everybody needs to stop picking on juniors, seniors, 1st basemen and 3rd basemen. Personally, I think Coach Lasley is a spy. He's tipping off the Soddsy coach! The deck is stacked!
  8. This was a well-run tournament despite tough conditions. Thanks to everyone involved.
  9. Father Ryan will definitely be in the mix with a good team. Is their head coach back on the field yet?
  10. SBA and Baylor- that was last year. Baylor had a freshman pitcher and a junior pitcher so the average was 2 sophomores. SBA will be tough to beat this year and so will Baylor if they get there. Hope for a rematch. Baylor has 7 hitters with 1 or more homeruns in just 19 games so far.
  11. Best ever at Ooteywah- has to be one of the Tucker sisters Best 3 ever at Ooteywah- 3 Tucker sisters
  12. Ya gotta love softball in Chattanooga. It's soooo serious. Soddy has beaten Baylor about 6 times in a row going back to 2003's game at Baylor. Why did CoachKirk call AD Clark at Baylor rather than Coach Smith to cancel? Because he didn't have his #1 ready to throw? Why wouldn't he schedule a make-up when Kelli Smith called him back? Baylor girls- take it as a compliment. Which girls do we think will look back on their high school softball careers with more pleasure- Baylor (or any other school) or Soddy? If I was a parent of one of those 19-20 kids at Soddsy I'd be mad. He had more than enough kids to play. He just didn't have all of the right ones. Too cold to play the final in Cookeville? If I were at Baylor I'd never schedule a regular season game with him again.
