  1. Jeff Co. (the program) has too much class to chicken out. If the game doesn't happen, it'll be for REAL reasons on one side or the other. But ... fingers crossed for good health for all.
  2. The Sullivan County Health Department was apparently involved. They have the legal authority to shut the game, football program, and the whole school down if they deemed there was risk. THEY did the tracking down, not DB non-health field professionals. They do the quaranteening. It would be on THEM. So this talk of it looking bad for DB is just that - talk. Guaranteed- the health dept gave the green light.
  3. From WCYB - update: "True says based on the information they have, they don't anticipate an impact on Friday's football game"
  4. Hot news on WCYB. Someone associated with DB football has tested positive. Don't know yet if it will stop the game from happening. They are chasing contact information right now. https://wcyb.com/news/local/individual-associated-with-dobyns-bennett-football-program-tests-positive-for-covid-19
  5. Just curious. Did it rain in OR at all last night?
  6. Define "Top 10". My definition is - the 10 teams that have the best shot at going all the way. So please, just leave Dobyns Bennett out. There is a zero chance that they will make the finals, much less win it.
  7. Congratulations to the Cyclones and everyone at Betsy. You and your coach are a class act. So glad to see the support you got from community. Next year!
  8. Whale, eye sea thut Murvul hast too thrauds goeun.
  9. Feeling honest. Are you feeling honest, or biased? The difference was stunning from my perspective in the stands. But hey, my memory could be flawed. I have no dog in this hunt. Would actually rather the Rebels win.
  10. My thoughts, as little as they really are worth. I was surprised Friday night with the Rebels when they played Dobyns Bennett. I have seen the Rebels play 3 prior times but not in the last couple of years. Based on those prior games I thought that they were an amazing team. I equated them to a "machine" in action on the DB vs Maryville thread and basically asked the question, how do you beat a machine? This Rebel team is not what I remember. They are not a machine. They were just not as disciplined as the teams from a few years ago were, IMO. Now don't get me wrong. They are an excellent team with really good players and coaches. But they are definitely beatable by any of the higher ranked middle Tennessee teams. So I'll go out on a limb here. I think Oakland will beat this Maryville team on their home turf. That assumes that all is as it appears based on comments from seemingly knowledgeable fans over in the middle of the state.
  11. Well I tried. Stood right in front of them, just before pre-game show, in a DB jacket and cap and asked for StarsNBars or RebelWoman. Everbody looked like I was stupid. Of course that was before I knew they were on the 50. Probably was stupid standing in Rebel country with DB gear on. Now I understand tho. Waco was ALL they wanted to see. I'm sorry Stars. Shouldn't have been so mean to the thread creator.
  12. Yep, good luck Rebs. Hope your game improves going forward. See you next year.
  13. DB had a night from heii. Team B that I mentioned earlier. Complete meltdown. Should have never happened.
  14. Are ya'll here? Look'n for a likely group
  15. Journalists. We all should know not to listen to anything they have to say. This will not be a showdown. Or not my definition of one.
  16. STARS ole man, hope to meet you folks Friday. Not sure if I can find you tho. I'll just ask around. May have a former Indian with me that played against your Rebels about 10 years ago.
  17. Only parking permits allowed within 2500 ft of the stadium. Ain't that what UR say'n there Blaizer?
  18. The upper deck is not what its cracked up to be. I tried it one time and was given tickets once. You just feel too far from the game. I prefer the lower seats. We had reserved seats for about 10 years on the 40 about half way up on the score board end. They were great. The official statement this morning from the police chief is that there was a heavy police presence Wednesday morning due to the note. Then there was a dryer fire in one of the Vocational buildings that caused an evacuation from that building only. But the alarms panicked the students and their family and social media went crazy with lies. There was no shooter. Only a rumor in social media that someone saw 2 people with guns on the other side of Center street. Nothing to any of that. I hate Facebook for the lies that are rampant there. There will be a heavy police presence the rest of the week and guaranteed at the game. ADVICE to the Maryville folks from me. Go online and see what the stadium rules are about what you can carry in. NO large pocket books, back packs etc. Use clear bags if you carry anything bulky in. Read the rules and make entry easy. There is plenty to eat and drink inside. Visitor side has concessions. RAIN: according to WCYB News 5 there should be zero rain Friday evening. Rain ends late Friday afternoon and will not start back until about 6am Saturday. Temperatures in the 50s will make this a great night for football. I hope that all sticks. Regarding why visitor seating is weird. There is a baseball diamond on the right end of the field that is turf. It blends into the football field. The bleachers are not designed to sit on the turf so they end before they intrude on the baseball turf.
  19. Right now, weather apps are calling for 0 to 20% chance of rain between 7 and 10pm. Nope its true. Heavy rain ends about 5pm. Home crowds are normally real good, especially playoffs. The lower deck is normally packed plus full end zones. Rain will definitely impact it. Upper deck is so expensive that half full is good. Maybe 1/3 off normal with rain. Lots of grandmas go to games. They just won't risk pneumonia in the rain this late in the season.
  20. Yeah, the first playoff game for DB was posted on the T and on the streaming provider like that as if it would be streamed in video. But it never happened and was taken down right before the game. So unless you know something more, don't bet your evening on it.
  21. On a "lighter" side, today's reality: https://kingsportpdblog.com/2019/11/20/kpd-e-news-release-k-p-d-on-dobyns-bennett-campus-for-security-purposes/
  22. My expectations for Friday is that other than Alcoa, DB will be tougher than anyone else Maryville has played. But only if the A team shows up. Not the rainy night B team that showed up vs Science Hill. And I am concerned about that. Maybe the Indians learned from that experience. If A team arrives I think the Indians will score TDs 2-3 times and will somewhat limit Maryville's offense, especially early. DB has good depth so this will be a 4 quarter, hard fought game. Kickoffs will be into the end zone and they will not miss an extra point. Kicking team is great. I expect 1 or 2 FGs because Maryville will deny TDs and DBs very good kicking team will score. So I expect the final score will be in the area of 25 pts for DB and 40 pts for Maryville. If the B team shows up, 55-7. But next year will be a barn burner.
  23. My fro gets in my eyes. Can't see 5 feet in front of me.
