  1. Don't know the answer to that but maybe he is riding the balance board and playing the pac man video game! Just kidding. Congratulations to Mr. Patrick Simpson for a good showing and placing second. I saw where he beat the stud from Ohio by the name of Jaggers. Wasn't Jaggers a senior national champ? Sommers you said you wrestled Patrick Simpson at the Army Camp this year. Do you still have limbs left on you? The guy must be an animal!
  2. Thanks Hamm, I think fiskhorn is one tough kid and I appreciate you keeping all of us up to date on everything.
  3. Hamm, To bad Blackman isn't wrestling in this match. I sure would love to see him get it on! I do not think Yost will stay with Ward. I do think the match will be close in score because of Wards style. Delk is a veteran in a pretty tough room and I would favor him. I don't think Sioredas has a chance with Hendricks (not even close). Davis might have the best chance of a win outside of 133 Keefe and Pitts. One question? Do you think Mocco will hit a footsweep or will he try out a newly learned John Smith low level single????? Good luck to the Mocs. We are pulling for you.
  4. I feel someones blood pressure rising!!!!!!!!
  5. Rabbitt, welcome back this year. I didn't know if you would come back since James graduated. But glad to see you back anyway. I believe if you compare Bradley, SD and the Franklin teams I think you would have to come to the conclusion that without a doubt Franklin has the horses and may I say MANY HORSES to run with this year. I am glad to hear you still love your SD team. I look for a good tournament this year.
  6. Rigger101 I agree with what you say about the comments from snobhatter. So what! If you respond to him he will continue. If you ignore him or any other negative comments, they will get tired and quit. We all have a choice. Either take the high road or the low road. In either case remember to have fun. thumb
  7. This is an interesting subject. I can't believe that anyone takes this so serious. Coach G, I think you do a fine job with your team. However, I am a little down on the fact that knowing you have stepped into the gutter with snobhatter. I will suggest to all of you wrestlers, parents, coaches, and even fans that if what they say on here bothers you that much you probably need to stop visiting this site. You must take all of the criticism on here with a grain of salt and a pinch of pepper. Life is to good to get caught up in all this googly woogly stuff!!!!! Have a great year.
  8. I will make my comment on this. Stovepipe you have created a good thread. Good work! Is wrestling that much different than other sports? Can you see a football coach running his practices with parents hanging on the fence watching and heaven forbid making comments during practices. I think most college athletic practices are closed to the public and this is for a good reason. Can you see your local high school basketball coaches open the gym for all the parents to come in to watch practice? Come on parents, do you go sit in on your sons classes during school when you want to watch what you son is learning. Oh! Gee son that was a great answer to the chemistry problem!!!! I am being a bit sarcastic here but trying to make a point. I have made a point to not sit in on my sons practices because I want him to he him. Not wrestle for me. Then again, it all comes back to what kind of a relationship the father and son have. Do you trust your son to do his best when you are not watching? Or do you think he preforms better while you watch his every move? I prefer to let my son grow up on his own in the practice room and on the mat. However, I will be there to help guide him if he needs me. Sorry for rambling on.
  9. Stovepipe, Hot air is good sometimes. Especially when you need to clear the room. Your comments are just what this board needs. All in good humor. Keep up the good work!
  10. Good topic, I think you do an injustice to Bauke to put him in this list. Maybe if the topic was Most Potential In Div II he would be on the list. After watching him last year I was impressed but at the same time he was way out of his league with the big boys Manson and Dunning. So from that, I wouldn't list him as one of the top kids. Manson has had a good career in high school but has failed to claim the big prize because of kid named Dunning who actually owned Manson at the state last year. I think some kids who deserve the recognition would be Cleveland, Marable and Dunning. These three are the class of the Division II.
  11. hey sanders what weight will you be wrestling this year? I look forward to you having a good year.
  12. Concerned and Baffled, Coach can you tell us who made the decision to not allow the Morris kid help you out with wrestling. Are you telling us that your football coaches are worried about the Morris kid recruiting the kids from your school to go over to the school system he teaches in? Dang, that stinks. I think you guys should more concerned about losing guys to McCallie and Baylor than to some other county school system. Has this been a problem in the past? Hope you can work things out with the Morris kid.
  13. I will add the Markovich kid from Page to the most feared list of wrestlers. He was nasty! If he couldn't beat you he would mame you. I believe he went onto wrestle at Missouri. Does anyone know if he is still on the team? He probably was a good college wrestler. Where you been Stovepipe? Need some help with the where abouts of this kid.
  14. IJTX, thanks for your response. Maybe the Cumberland coach can go to the four major areas of our state and put on a clinic so our kids can get to know them better and even spike some interest in there program.
  15. Thanks for letting us know who is sending out information about their program. Is this the program in Kentucky or the one in Lebanon TN? I am glad they are sending out information about their school. Next time you see that coach you might want to suggest that he go visit some high schools and he might even shake the hands of the high school coaches. I even have a great thought! He might even put on a clinic for the area wrestlers so he can get to know the wrestlers and the coaches. It is funny, the coach from West Point puts on a clinic in Nashville, and I don't remember the coach from Cumberland University ever doing such a thing. You might want to suggest to the Cumberland coach to be more active with the Tenn wrestlers through personal contact and not just the pony express.
  16. Glad to know that Nick Marable is interested in the Naval Academy. He must be pretty smart. The Academies are some of the hardest schools to get into. Missouri isn't a bad choice either.
  17. This is quite puzzling! What college are you talking about? Are you telling me that our coaches are getting information about college wrestling opportunities and they are not passing the information along to our kids? Please advise us at to what college coach you have talked to.
  18. I wanted to start a thread so we can list the most exciting and best wrestling matches you ever seen. Of course give the name of the wrestlers and if you can remember maybe the year. Let the good times roll!
  19. Hey Hamm do you know the match-ups for the challenge matches? If so, who is wrestling who and at what weights. Also, on another board I saw that Michael Marable is at UTC. I didn't know that and upon looking at their website I didn't see his name listed on the roster. Can you confirm that he is there? Thanks
  20. I remember a kid from Memphis who use to wear tire chains around his neck while he walked around the gym. It was an intimidating thing to watch him walk to his corner and leave his chains in the corner with his coach. I was just glad that he never had to go get those chains to settle a dispute on the mat.
  21. Mtnrasslin I agree with you on the question about how MBA could be ranked ahead of Ryan. MBA is not in the same league with Ryan much less CBHS. I am curious Notredame788. Are you a MBA student trying to promote your team?
  22. Sommers, Didn't I see you roll around with Phillip Simpson at the camp. Dude, I thought you were over the hill until I saw you hold you own on the mat. I am impressed! I did notice you were trying to ride legs on him and it was impossible to keep them in much less stay on top of him. I read on a message board for college wrestling that he is considered to be one of the best mat wrestlers in country. You make my day seeing you still try to compete with these guys.
  23. Stovepipe, You are killing me dude!
  24. BKPress, What kind of connection do you have with the Army Coaches? What ever it is, I hope you keep bringing them to Nashville. I have had my son at this camp the past two years and it provides some of the best technique I have ever seen. I am surprised that more coaches from the area don't show up and learn. I saw stuff at this years camp that I think will help my son. Thanks for bringing the Army coaches again.
  25. Great to have you back Stovepipe. This is a great way to get the year started with the funniest awards from last year. I have a category also. The best and most accurate towel tapper -- I would like to give it to Irishdad's team on Franklin Road but I don't think they use one.
