  1. Hey Cub......QUIT SHOUTING........take off your caps lock
  2. Elizabethton 4x800 team wins state by 15 seconds. Back to back state titles for the McDaniel brothers, Henson and Jaynes. Second place for Nave in shot put. Cyclones finish sixth as a team with only five participants. Good job.
  3. Im just a fan giving an opinion. Coach Hardin has alot to work with next year and I expect he will know what he needs to do go get to the next level.
  4. invasion: that begs the question................did he trash talk you in spanish or english or some other language? He was barking spanish last night usually after making a play.
  5. The LC keeper, Garcia was the best Ive seen at this level. Very very intense. It was amusing to hear him hollering in Spanish. I know he speaks good english. Nice quotes from him in the JC paper today. LC has a great program, and I think they were a little surprised at the level of the cyclone play. Cyclones had more chances in the second half. The yellow card on Garcia gave them a golden chance against a substitute goalie, but the shot was wide. I have no idea how the kid from CAK could score five goals on Garcia. That kid must be something else. Good luck LC. Good season cyclones.
  6. LC won on free kicks. Game and four OT periods was scoreless. LC won free kicks 3-1. Hard fought game on both sides. Cyclones seemed to have more chances to score but couldnt quite seal the deal. LC had an outstanding goalie, who couldnt, or I should say didnt speak a word of English.
  7. LC may win, but I dont see them scoring three goals. Cyclones have not given up more than one goal to any A/AA team this year. They did give up four to a couple AAA teams. Ben Carey is an outstanding goalie.
  8. Cyclones like the underdog role. I say Cyclones 2 Lenoir City 1. Cyclones have no superstars but have no weak links either. Gough, Wilson, and Fair will all get their shots on goal. Carey will defend the home goal with honor.
  9. Cyclones in a low scoring affair.
  10. According to today's JC Press the start time saturday is at 5 pm. Cyclones won last night on a 30 yard free kick by Gough with seven minutes to go. Very physical match last night against Pigeon Forge with yellow cards on both in the last ten minutes. LC will be tough but I think this team can win and join both tennis teams and some track people at the Fling.
  11. Cyclones are being overlooked by the pundits here. No mention of any Region One teams having a chance at state. A win tommorrow gives cyclones a sectional game at home.
  12. DD99, perhaps I should have been more specific in what I meant. I was comparing them as pitchers. In the opinion of most objective observers, Musick is a better pitcher than Robinson. Robinson is better able to play other positions in the field and is a better hitter. She along with Hubbard should provide good senior leadership. I dont doubt the talent thats still on betsy's team. Its deep and young. If they work hard in the off-season, they should have a chance to get to state.
  13. Nightmare, what are you talking about? Musick lives in the city and chose to go out of her "zone" to Unaka. She no doubt would have helped the cyclones big time. Robinson is a good pitcher, but Musick is better. Heaton went to Unaka too, and Im not sure which zone she would fall in but she went all three years to city junior high. Keys sure doesnt live in the Daniel Boone zone. And Mason was a seventh grader in 2003, the season harry was talking about. Next year there will be no excuse for the cyclones not to knock Unicoi off its throne. The basketball team has done it, and the talent is there for the softball team to do it. The left side of the infield better step up their play or younger players will take their spots.
  14. Cyclone season ends in 8-7 extra inning loss to Johnson County. As has been the problem most of the season, errors, 8 of them, did them in. All but maybe one were infield errors. Four errors in the first inning alone, led to four runs. To their credit, the cyclones battled back to within one, at 4-3 in the fifth. Three more Johnson County runs reestablished their lead at 7-3, the the cyclones stormed back with four runs in the seventh to tie the game. Smith got Johnson Co out in the seventh and Elizabethton put two on to open the 8th, but, with the heart of the order up, made three outs to end the threat. Errors did them in in the bottom of the inning with consecutive errors at second base to open the inning and then a walk to load the bases. A single then ended the game. Robinson and Smith both pitched well enough to win. The cyclone hitting came around toward the end of the season, but the error bug never quite went away. Infield errors were killers all season long. They only lose one senior and should be a force next year if they work on their fielding!!
  15. Sounds like back to back wins against Kingsport have given the cyclones some much needed momentum to end the regular season on a run. Also sounds like Central is heading in the opposite direction. One game at a time. Unicoi in the District semi's won't happen unless you take care of business friday at home. The season starts now. Keep up it going. Good job this past week.
  16. SBfever: Sorry if I offended you by calling it as I see it. The kids know when they play well and when they dont. I dare say that your phony phrase is more offensive to them than the hard truth. The cyclones have talent, they just havent played up to their capabilities this year, and havent gotten many breaks. They are still a young team and hopefully will turn it around.
  17. SBfever: How in the world can you say a 11-0 game with an eight run first inning was a "good game", unless of course you are a Unicoi fan. Cyclones have to be disappointed. Devils blasted starter Robinson for eight runs in the first inning. Two home runs in the inning. Are they Cyclones just going to mail the rest of the season in? Game against Volunteer today weather permitting may give a clue.
  18. Johnson County beat Elizabethton in 10 innings last night. Cyclones fought from behind to tie the game but couldnt pull it out. Looks like fourth place in the conference now and in Unicoi's bracket in District. Win tommorrow against Unicoi could give team much needed boost.
  19. Edgar is out for the rest of this season. Stress fracture in her arm.
  20. Home loss to Volunteer this week 5-3. Coach Hardin quoted as saying there will be line-up changes if things do not change quickly. Timely hits are not coming. Untimely errors and baserunning mistakes are. The thing is they are coming from multiyear starters. Pitching has been solid. Keys is missed more than most thought. She has been pitching real well for Boone. Still time to turn it around, but so far this bunch has underachieved big time.
  21. Depends on how recruiting season goes! thumb
  22. coachh17, if you think that bad luck is the cause of the EHS girls current woes, then you are out to lunch. didnt get to see yesterdays game, but I talked to someone that did and they said it was the same ole same ole as the south greene game. minimal effort and intensity, again. at least the boys play hard. talent means nothing if they dont give effort and play together as a team. Have some Pride cyclones!!
  23. Rebels beat EHS easily today 50-29. Game was never close. EHS team acted like they didnt want to be playing basketball. Point guard, #21 got her lunch ate today by South Greene. I bet she had 8 turnovers. I thought Redd was the point guard?? South Greene shot layups all night on fast breaks. No effort. No intensity. No leadership. What are the cyclone coaches thinking? This is not the same team I watched a few weeks ago.
  24. lady cyclones beat sullivan central tonight 47-39. central led by one at the half but the cyclones came back and took a nine point lead into the fourth quarter and held on to the win. neither team shot very well, and game was real physical. good conference win on the road.
